That's such an accurate take. I am an actor, and for long runs (theatre with multiple shows each night) we basically stop rehearsing full out after we are ready because it starts making our reactions appear contrived if we get too familiar with each other and the material. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for Kit to keep doing the same bloody 2 lines(I don't want it! She's muh queen!) for a whole season.

People are so heartless in the comments not realizing that he became the face of the biggest tv show on HBO. When before he had to share it with people who had more experience and more name recognition and then suddenly he was pushed to the front. Of course he felt some imposter syndrome and had low self esteem, and then also dealing with personal issues.

@@fatalshore5068 he did recently say he'll finish the book series as quickly as possible, which does give me a little bit of hope that a dream of spring will come along, as soon after Winds of Winter hits the shelves, but I definitely think the characters we love will die.

When people tell you to feel grateful because you're rich and famous now. And you just wanted to do a good job and make people happy.

Kit portrayed Jon Snow, Who is literally the MJ of Television Characters. The absolute Goat protagonist. Well earned love and adoration of the fans. People watching live remember, that by the time Jon became the forefront of the show, you realized all at once “oh my god, Jon is my favorite character.” But it’d been building that credibility for years

I love this! Jon chapters have always fascinated me with all the layers of symbolism and lore, hidden in plain sight as an offhand mention of blue flowers growing from a crack in the ice. GoT really ruined part of the appeal of Jon for me for a bit, his character is so plain in the end. While in the books he is being prepared for greatness and self sacrifice. I'm thinking maybe Dani and Jon will need to sacrifice their humanity to safe humankind in the end. Ofcourse, humans will not bother to care as they are too busy playing politics around the iron throne. And the people who do see the importance of it, will eventually forget about this sacrifice. Meaning the story of ice and fire will be just that: a story to tell by the fire. A lore to thrill the listeners and to keep boredom away. Full circle to how aSoIaF treats the legend of the Prince that was Promised in the current story told by Martin.

Kit Harrington did fairly well as Jon snow the script was just trash

Their reasons are not close to being similar. Emilia was left without cover after doing a nude scene for several minutes until Jason Mamoa said something about it. She constantly had to expose herself to cameras because D&D needed nude scenes every episode for some depraved reason. Kit is complaining about doing his job. And he was mediocre at doing it. Peoples mental health should not be compared for better or worse, but Emlilias position was undeniably worse.

​@@Potentate_he's actually not complaining about his job, he's complaining about the fear of losing his job, which is very much a serious thing, I'm not down playing Amelia's experiences but the fact that people are so venomous towards him because of his mediocre job, when in reality it was the scripts fault, not his, is rather pathetic and disgusting. I don't know, fear of losing your job, your entire livelihood, and quiet arguably your family, is very much on par with what she went through.

@@sindelscat9336 Agreed, though from at least this videos info, he was not concerned about losing his job but was concerned about what people thought of his performance. Which is understandable, but you cannot blame the scripts alone, especially in seasons 5-6. He was a mediocre actor put in the spotlight that he did not think he deserved, that would affect anyone. But I reinforce my point, Kit did not suffer close to as much as Emilia. She did have a brain hemorrhage in season 1 which she could have died from and was pretty much made a pr*stitute, which is very derogatory and gross but true. Another actor, the one who played Septa Unella was actually tortured on set and called it the worst day of her life. There are more also, such as Sansa’s actor. I believe Maisille Williams had some issues as well but I’m unsure as to what they were. Tommen and Margaerys actors were also lied to about their ages in the books and were pretty much coerced into doing a $ex scene. So almost every actor suffered in some form or another on set. And it was because they were child actors or pushed beyond what any normal director would ask of them. But what Kit needed therapy for, was his job. Acting.

@@Potentate_ but if you actually read into the interviews, what he was talking about was his fear of losing his job, and also he wasn't a mediocre actor, because the scripts from season 5 onward were hilariously bad, in fact he's worked on other projects before, if you watch them you'd know he can act. Using her brain hemorrhage as a justification to why her experience is worse, when that was something that happened out of the blue and no one knew about it until it popped up, doesn't count as an experience that happened with her acting. Also an s worker, is someone who does the deed for the money she was acting, meaning what she did wasn't that at all, I agree what she went through was horrible and I can't imagine what that must have felt like, but to down play what he went through his pretty insensitive. I also felt for the other actors as well, everyone in this show was screwed over, the fact that they decided to put most of the pressure on him in the later seasons was very unfair especially when they put him in a position, to where he could have lost his entire career because of this role. The fact that people have to call him a baby for that is just disgusting, because of this was a woman, you know full well people would not have this reaction.

No one is immune from self doubt. Not even one of the most recognizable stars on the planet at the time. Take care of yourselves. Talk to people. Connecting is not weakness.

People gravitated towards Jon because he was a very well written character. He's the underdog and hero that you root for. Kit did a fantastic job playing the character.

Well yea, Kit read the books. He knew how game of thrones was structured as a story. Having one character be such an obvious protagonist in an ensemble cast when its not supposed to be is a strange feeling, especially when you are aware that your character should not be as prominent as they are.

Smh Some of you in the comments are probably why Kit felt the way he did during that time period.

I do feel sorry for Kit Harrington. Like many of the actors he kinda came of age on the show, so It can’t have been easy to be part of an ensemble cast only to then have all the focus thrown squarely on you and having to act increasingly awful scenes or leaps in characterisation. I’m glad he got help. More people need to feel like they ca. talk about their struggles

And that is the attitude of a humble star. So sorry he had so much mental health issues through it. But the alternative would have been getting all of it in his head and becoming a cocky Hollywood douche. He kept the real Kit Harrington in.

Reading the books and watching the show it did seem kinda like Daenerys and Jon were the main characters or maybe just Jon. They are Ice and Fire. The song is about them. Jon could also be ice and fire if he is a Targaryen raised in the North with Stark blood. I don’t believe for a second he’ll stay dead.

he had the weight of an entire show that had been good falling down on him when they ran out of material for the books. he was directed a certain way that readers hated and blamed for being a bad actor. imagine coming in to work every day, the whole world watching, and being told you’re doing a bad job. yes, it’s not like he’s starving, but people are allowed to have hard times even if they are easier than other situations
