Yeah, the Rat Pack stormed Vegas. But don't forget that Louis Prima's band was there first, drawing big crowds. With Keely Smith, Sam Butera, and a great band, they took Vegas by storm. Maybe they weren't hip enough as the years passed, but they did lay the groundwork for the Rat Pack to take over. Give them a little credit please.

No, I didn't know. But it does make sense. I grew up watching the rat pack. Now I know why Joey Bishup disappeared. 🤔

The rat-pack was probably the coolest guys ever. Ocean's 11, Matt Helm, Tony Rome, these are great rat pack movies from the 60's

Lauren Bacall didn't give the name RatPack to Sinatra. It was the name of a group of Bogart's friends including Gary Copper. Sinatra borrowed the name.

Interesting video, nicely done. Thanks. That's really too bad about Joey Bishop. Didn't know all this. I always thought he was a funny comedian with his droll low-key style & definitely an intrinsic part of the Rat Pack. Too bad they couldn't patch it up. If you want to see him in a non-Rat Pack movie look for his bit as a car salesman in Johnny Cool, which starred Henry Silva as a hitman. Silva of course was also in Oceans 11.

I knew that he was dumped, but I didn’t know why. Bossing around the chairman of the board…. He survived the incident, but it was a shame he didn’t let go of it…..

Never found Bishop funny or clever. More of an icon than talent.

Bishop was the last of them to pass away

They must have made up after Robin and the Seven Hoods (made in 1963-64) as clip at 3:09 show Joey, Frank & Dean with Joey hosting the Tonight Show for Johnny Carson October 5, 1965.

Bishop always had a dry comedy style, never cared for it.

To each his own, I guess. The dry style was what I actually liked. For me, it worked a treat on his sitcom for his alter ego, Joey Barnes.

Joey Bishop was one of the funniest comedians I ever heard! So talented. I knew he’d been ostracized for some reason but never knew why. Sinatra was a real jerk to ruin Joey like that.

Humphrey bogart invented the rat pack WAYYYYY before Sinatra . Right after bogart death is when he usurped the name and took over the group as well as sleeping with Lauren Bacall while bogart was alive and slowly dying

Joey Bishop did not drink .This did not sit too with the Chairman.

Oh well Frank was the chairman of the board ❤❤ if you cross him your out. But I liked frank I liked his singing and demeanor you are what you are. They’re all gone now.

Excellent video and factually correct. Just a couple points, though. First, that beautiful young lady at 6:00 with Frank is Frank's daughter Nancy, not a girlfriend! Second, when the Rat Pack was being formed, another reason that Frank thought Joey would be a great addition to the team was that Joey was an outstanding comedy writer. Although the Rat Pack Show seemed like spontaneous, improvised clowning around, everything was actually carefully choreographed. And in the beginning, Joey penned most of the skits and comedy lines in the Act.

Humphrey Bogart died in January 1957, so.............

I think the so called rat pack got along well together and liked each other too they had their fun. They entertained us and now it’s over Joey bishop didn’t seem to be into the partying but I don’t know for sure. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Joey Bishop: the Pete Best of the Rat Pack. Sinatra, Martin, and Davis were undeniably talented, but I don’t think either Bishop or Lawford were. And I never understood what the big deal was about the group as a whole anyway. I guess you had to be from that generation.

Happy belated birthday Frank Sinatra (12th of December) He has the same birthday as me, just a different year!

Joey Bishop was a very talented man. I have to say that if I were Frank Sinatra, I don't think I would not appreciate Joey making demands on me to say the least. Also, Joey's bitterness ultimately hurt him most of all. I once heard it said that bitterness is like taking poison hoping the other person dies. How truly sad😢

Here is the difficulty with the alleged ouster. I've studied the Rat Pack for many years-got it from my father. It was only after Bishop's death that this story about the private jet and more money came out. Problem for me is that everyone claims to have heard it for 50 years. I don't think so.

Look ppl leave Joey bishop alone his dead let him rest in PEACE. NOBODY KNOWS HIM OR WHO HE WAS. NOW DAYS. GIVE HIM A BREAK.

Humphrey Bogart was the originator of the Rat Pack, not Sinatra. Sinatra hung out with Bogie and adopted the name after died in 1957. Bacall came up with the name while observing her husband’s group. I’m hoping the details of the rest of this narrative are correct but one wonders.

Peter Lawford better known as JFK's brother-in-law? Statement like this make laugh. He had been an MGM star since the 1940s. JFK was still in college when Lawford was already a star.

Bishop had a quick wit .. that’s what was funny about him . He could quickly come up with unscripted lines that were straight from his wit. Those comments were usually hilarious. If you ever watch one of the few taped rat pack shows that bishop was involved with ; he was very funny . Dean of course was hilarious , but JB threw out a few off the cuff zingers! Witted and at times the straight man . The least talented was Lawford .
