There was also Frank Sinatra and how he helped Sammy Davis because there were many hotels that would not allow Sammy Davis Junior to stay there because he was black in fact many of them didn't even want him eating in their public restaurants. Sinatra was relentless and tireless in his demand that every entertainer was treated equally he is insistence on fair treatment mirrored his on stage acceptance of Sammy Davis Junior. Sinatra told Ebony magazine in 1958 "a friend to me has no race, no class and belongs to no minority. My friendships are formed out of affection, mutual respect, and a feeling of having something in common. These are eternal values that cannot be classified ". So without Frank Sinatra it might've been much longer before black entertainers like Sammy Davis might have been able to eat perform and stay at many of the places in Vegas.

And don’t forget, Sammy had a wife who was white and a lot of people didn’t like that. He had many threats made on his life because of it. There was at times many places that would not allow him and his wife to be seen together . The KKK made threats on him as well.

Frank was the best singer of them all in my opinion, just listen to his Capitol and Reprise recordings. But they were all of course superb singers and entertainers. I got to see Frank live in Stockholm, Sweden in 1990 and I will always remember that concert for sure. It´s hard to describe how he held us all in his hand and dominated the concert hall completely. Talk about charisma, voice and talent even at 74 (he turned 75 later that year)! And I might add Frank JR was the conductor and leader of the orchestra.

@Mike Flair Doubtful. Michael was too young to have seen much - if any - of Sammy's performances. Plus, remember that Michael didn't get to have a childhood, as he was forced to rehearse practically every waking hour of the day. Sammy was great, and so funny. I miss seeing those guys. But Michael - in my opinion - was a musical/dancing genius. I'm not sure we'll ever see a natural talent like that again in our lifetimes. A tragic, regrettable loss.

I think Frank was the best singer, Dean Martin the best actor, Sammy Davis the best all-around performer. Frank helped Sammy in Vegas break the color barrier by convincing the casino owners that the only color they needed to focus on was GREEN, and Sammy would help that along. Frank made sure Sammy never had to enter the casinos through the back entrance as well, threatening to never perform there unless they treated Sammy with all due respect. Frank was the most imitated singer. Look at two guys who copped Sinatra's style. Harry Connick Jr. and Michael Buble' and made a fortune out of it.

Also Frank Sinatra also made Palm Springs a destination. Perhaps Frank Sinatra is the greatest entertainer along with Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. In the 20th Century. Their legacy is set and no one hasn’t been closed to what they’ve achieved. Thanks Rat Pack RIH. Also to Peter Lawford for his contribution RIH, Joey Bishop RIH

Sammy Davis was married to white Swedish actress May Britt from 1960 to 1968). They had several children together. Which all happened before the claim being made here of him being 'suicidal' about an affair with white actress Kim Novak. In fact, I call a big time 'fact check' on your version of these particular events. Your piece here however does mention that Sammy later did marry a Black woman, which is true (his widow, show dancer 'Altovise'), but, that also happened much later after his initial interracial marriage to May Britt. I seriously doubt if Sammy Davis, Jr back in his heyday had any issues keeping the intimate company of many women, women of various types, and races. 😎

He married Loray White on January 10, 1958. She was 23 and had a six year old child. They never lived together and they divorced April 23, 1959. He paid her 10 thousand and a new Cadillac, when the marriage was annulled. The mob kidnapped him and told him marry a black woman or we remove the other eye or we break your leg. Miss White was his first wife out of fear for his life. Altovise was his third wife.

Love 'em Both, but I feel that Frank had a better voice overall. Bing's voice was Great as well, just not as strong I guess. Also don't think Bing had the range that Frank did.

I’ve traveled all around the world but the greens you get from the hills, mountains and fields are mind blowing. You’ve not seen green until you’ve been 2 the emerald isles 🇮🇪❤️

Bing had a better singing voice than Sinatra and for that matter, so did Dean Martin.
