I make myself bento boxes and make all the people at work jealous. The funny thing is, it's usually made with leftovers, so assembling it takes very little effort. The only real difference is that it looks more presentable in a bento instead of just piled up in a bowl.

I love how Jimmy cracked a joke while also mocking the 'asian women stereotyping'. We really should mind our words and expresssions, Not all Japanese women make Bento , like he said, it is out of caring and love, regardless of where you are from. Kudos to that! LOVE the ending! That's exactly how it should be. I made bentos for my kids three times a week while they were in preschool. I didn't do the super-cutesy stuff except for the Weiner octopus. I loved making those things, although with my knife skills, I often made a character called Fivey, the Weiner Octopus, who had three sea snakes as friends . . . .

But for real, he shouldve just asked her upfront if she'd be willing to make him a bento box. She probably wouldnt have done it every day, but she mightve done it from time to time to make him feel loved and special. Instead they ended up in an argument because he was scared to communicate.

Not all Japanese women make bento box every day nowadays. A lot of choice for lunch now.. people simply buy lunch. Depends on person. My mum did because my secondary school didn’t provide school dinner and I didn’t like to buy sandwiches from school Kiosks every day. 😅Generally the bento box is simple - last night’s some leftovers and boiled rice and egg rolls.. Recent instagram and KZread they make fancy bento boxes for presentation.

The Japanese culture is 100% the husband's pay is given to the wives and he gets the lunch and coffee money like ten dollars. Many of the younger generation of men are refusing marriage due to this practice. This applies even to the big bosses.

The average allowance for their husbands is $200 ($150-$350) by month. Japanese husbands literally don’t have enough money for buying lunch everyday. Wives take care of all the finance situation.

One where they either choose to or have to work to make a living? Not that hard to figure out. We also live very differently, which is yet another reason. I can buy a 20 room house with loads of land for less than half of what I'd buy an apartment for as long as I'm willing to live in a smaller place a bit outside of the city, yet people want to live in cities. So that's why. It's also part of why birth rates have been going down.
