I couldn't agree more, stalking carp is far more challenging and rewarding than catching trout.

Hell no it’s not, try stalking 10-15 brown trout in the Monaro.. ive been fly fishing since I was kid and fly fishing for carp was easy it was good practice for catching one Australia’s hardest trout area.

Mate you should see some of the carp my missus has pulled out of the lagoon at Richmond on a handline.

they work well for flathead

Swamp trout are the most fun.

Few years back I was working in bellavista and saw those pond and creeks are stacked with big carps. I tried a few times and all lures worked perfectly. Then I got kicked out by security and demanding me to put the fish back. I told them it was illegal to put them back but they don't listen.

it actually depends on what the council, that covers that area, has stated. Unless Im wrong, Parra river fresh is under PArra city council trust,. and I was informed that I could only catch release fish from fresh part, so any carp that got hooked , had to go back

Completely disagree mate, carp fight good don’t get me wrong but they still have nothing on Atlantic salmon or eucy rainbow trout, lb for pound trout fight way harder I’d say carp around the 3-5lb do fight harder then trout yeah but all the carp and trout I’ve caught over 10lb trout put them to absolute shame especially with the acrobatics and the ability to take down to baking and what not where carp will just run. Once you brake down all the factors trout by far take the cake.

yeah you have me there, just the other day I hooked up and lost a rainbow trout about 3 or 4 pounds and it was a challenge to good for me, I have no experience with trophy trout or salmon and you are rite, I can only imagine a trout the size of these carp would be amazing.
