Because plenty of accessories still use MicroUSB like wireless chargers, powerbanks, rechargeable fans, lights etc, and it is still cheaper to make them compared to USB-C.

Yep expensive but only additional $0.70 cents per unit. Don't know why that is hard for them. I mean as they produce more units, that 0.70 cents is gonna add up to millions, but come on! The wide compatibility of Type C is so worth it.

Every single USB Drive I used comes with a USB-A port. there are several devices old and new that use MicroUSB. I think USB-C should be restricted to phones and USB drives because I don't really see the point in replacing microUSB ports when it just works. Remember that on the other end of microUSB is still type-A jack

So the truth is that usb C is only faster for data because micro USB Android also have rapid charge if you have the right charger like duracell. Most Android manufacturer put out $100 economy Android with nice camera, cpu, display and generally better than the other Android at equal cost but thier are limits to ensure you explore the $1000+ Android of the same brand. Common limitations are micro USB,not enough memory+no sd card as internal memory only portable.no chrome cast, no wireless charging. Basically to not get screwed you need generic economy Android like media tech or Blu which still have micro USB but less of the other limit's. Micro USB is just a life style choice for generic Android because plenty of economy earbuds have usb c so it's definitely not a cost issue.

Micro USB was never revolutionary, other than just a smaller version of Mini USB, which in turn was just a smaller version of USB A. It basically just did data transfer and battery charging, at a low voltage too. The innovative connector, although proprietary, was the 30-pin Dock Connector. That could do data, charge, audio, video, iPod controls, album artwork. The real innovator was the even better replacement to the 30-pin, Lightning, which could do everything the 30-pin Dock Connector could do, but had digital audio and video, and was much smaller and could be connected from either side. USB-C now does that, and finally we can have a true universal connector, although not all cables are created equal. Thunderbolt 3 uses the same physical connector as USB-C but takes it to a whole 'nother level with superior data transfer speeds than USB 3.2. No worries though, USB 4 is coming and will essentially become Thunderbolt 3.

Micro USB is smaller, cheaper, it is sturdier and it is WAY easier to repair. You can DIY solder a new female socket on any PCB. Try that with USB-C. Most microcontroller boards still come out with Micro. It's not going away ever. As you can still buy FireWire connectors and cables in 2021.
