    The thing about her being assigned to parking duty first, it actually makes sense: imagine what happens if a newbie gets thrown into the worst duties first without having the on-the-ground experience and the precinct doesn't really know what you can do. It's actually a way of keeping her safe and seeing just how determined she is to stay.

    I think Judy was upset cuz there were missing mammal cases that DIDN'T have officers to work on (like otterton - nobody was working on his case, and Judy was available). Yet Bogo didn't give her any job. Even if she is a rookie, she was assigned to THE zootopia police department. Not bunnyburrow's police department. And she's valedictorian. She definitely can try to 'take' a case, even if she may be a newbie - when there's not enough officers to go on cases.

    Yeah, it's a densely populated urban area, with lots of nooks and crannies to learn about. Parking duty gives her ample opportunity to explore and learn details about the layout of the city, and get a feel for people that usually go to each area and what they do there, and not just memorise stale data from a map. I think the only thing that actually soured the moment for me is that they (apparently) didn't assign her to an (even if small and shared) office. Her apartment is not exactly a safe place to work with police data and documents. I'm gonna assume that is background info that they felt that didn't need screen-time though.

There were so many people who tried to take their toddlers to see this movie and of course they had to leave early because the kids would start crying from the jumpscares. So I actually would warn people that had small kids about that possibility. It's really not a movie for little kids. The main story plot would go over most of their heads and the scares and seriousness would just overall make it not enjoyable for them. So I recommended 5< years should be the ones that saw it. I'll just copy-paste what I wrote under another Zootopia reaction: I know exactly how Nick feels. For some of us immigrants, no matter how good, peaceful and trustworthy you try to be, society will keep using you as a scapegoat and keep blaming you for crimes of your "ancestors" aka "people you have no real connection to". It will be made clear to you that no matter what you do in life, society will try to screw you over at every turn on systemic level, it will never be easier. Being nice and polite just doesn't work against discrimination based on fearmongering against you. So you have to become assertive, blunt and be able to physically stand your ground. Make it clear that attacking you with fists or words will be met with equally effective counter attack. But you have to be very very careful to not become cruel, immoral and bitter in the process. That's the hard part. Learn from crimes "your people" committed but don't let anyone bully you to get the illusion of justice. And no, this movie doesn't apply only to issue of racism but to any fear-based xenophobia. I'm white but race had nothing to do with what happened to ma and many others like me. Don't just think of America because these issues apply worldwide.

    I wouldn't use the word scapegoat because for alot of countries immigrants especially illegal ones really hurt the infrastructure of countries. Then those immigrants don't try to learn the native culture or language, just do what they want inveribly just take benefits or jobs by cash which can't be taxed invariably start to make up alot of the local crime. So inevitably the native population start to growa fear and hatred that is based on past experiences. I have personally seen this in my own country, in my local area before I was born it was a thriving town and place to go at the weekend to shop and go out. But now in my twenties the town has become run down and the large population of Romanians came in taking up alot of housing which inveritably was given to them not brought but dont even take care of their housing just chucking their garbage on the public paths etc, alot of them are on benefits or do cash jobs. Hang around town in large groups in the betting shops etc refuse to use speak the native language and use that as a excuse if they get in trouble and a general bad attitude. Alot of the local crime is from them. To the point that walking at night around those areas or in general is unsafe for most especially girls. They harass school girls and try to make advances on them and groom them, walking into girls changing rooms at gyms and shops but say they dont understand the signs. So now I would say I have a hatred of Romanian people I know not all are like that but it's got to the point that when I see one I instinctively hold my belongings tighter and distrust/ give them a wide birth

    Zootopia is the name of the movie in American releases. Zootropolis is the title used on foreign releases in certain countries and areas like Britain. The voice actors for the news reporters (and occasionally the species of animal) changes between each release version as well.

    did you know that the orginally had nick as the protagnost and judy as the sidekick but switched it around cause to nick the city was broken from the beggining and following the story through the eyes of a cynic would degrade the message and the city itself with judy being more optomisitic and starry eyed the story and the themes made more sense thats what they said anyway so what do you think good decision

    It’s interesting how you kept bringing up Nick being a con man to eventually being a cop. Zootopia+ is on its way and it would be really interesting to get an episode delving deep into that. Maybe when the other officers find out they might kick him off the team and maybe put his partnership with Judy into question. Or maybe and episode where Nick was framed for something and thrown in jail and Judy has to risk her job to prove his innocence.

    I really love this movie. It was fun watching you stereotype each of the characters throughout the movie. But that is all part of it as everyone does this and the movie obviously pushes us to do that. Discrimination and bullies are all around us and is difficult to know one from another. We can't always assume who the true bully is in any situation without knowing all the details. Otherwise, we can become a bully ourselves very quickly.

    Nice analysis. I love how you usually spot the plot twists before they happen! Although I did think you could be a bit more broad minded about a nice family guy having an interest in yoga, even if it involves nudity! Species-wise, I notice that someone else has already pointed out that Nick's partner in crime is a fennec, which accounts for his being much smaller and cuter than a red fox, even when fully grown. Mr Big is a shrew. Shrews generally, and the Etruscan Shrew in particular, vie with the Bumblebee Bat for the title of World's Smallest Mammal. Regarding names, no, I'm pretty sure Mr. Big is not a reference to "the next Donald Trump" (Samantha's description of him when he first appears) from Sex and the City. Names like Mr. Big , The Big Guy, The Big Boss and variants thereon have been used for scary characters in crime dramas far longer than that! I could name the mysterious villain of The Saint in New York, the "great negro criminal" from Live and Let Die, a British sitcom from 1977 about a small-time thief with delusions of grandeur, a WWE wrestler from the 1980s- although he dressed as a cop, not a crook- and various others. Miss Bellwether's name is an interesting one. Strictly, a wether is a castrated male sheep, the bell-wether being the lead sheep of a flock and having a bell around its neck that the shepherd can hear. Ms B. is clearly a ewe, but she does wear a bell pendant. The "danger" sheep with the huge coiling horns is clearly not a wether either, any sheep that full of testosterone is an intact ram for sure!

    Zootropolis is just the European title of the film because a zoo in Europe apparently had claim to the name soo Disney had to change the name, its the same film though if a character says "Zootopia" it's changed to "Zootropolis" and any wording shown on the film is also changed.

  • @ianz9916
    @ianz99162 жыл бұрын

    It's quite fun watching Zootropolis and finding the places where Disney missed changing the name from Zootopia like on the car number plates. It was changed in Europe because Disney failed to do their research and Zootopia was already registered as a trademark. Of course that's not the story that Disney came out with but it's not really plausible that they would redo all the animation and marketing to make the name more palatable to UK audiences.

    Nick is pretty much one of the situations where he is the perfect fit for being a police due to his past criminal activities. 1) He knows almost everyone from the criminal world, even a common thief that sells pirated CDs like the weasel. 2) Friends with even government officials/workers like Flash. He pretty much skipped queue and went straight to Flash. If Judy had to queue, it would probably take her longer to run the plates. The sloths obviously don't care if the others have to wait. 3) Being someone who used to be criminal, he even knows how they think and operate, as shown when he predicted the route of the wolves kidnappers when they kidnapped the jaguar. 4) He is cunning and smart and extremely quick witted, already being a millionaire at a young age, although it was attributed to fraud and shady business practices. His resourcefulness, knowledge and personal connections combined will make one heck of a detective who have access almost to anywhere and anyone.

    When you think of it, Disney have twice made self-mocking in this movie and Frozen. Here it's Bogo saying "This is not a cartoon musical where you sing a little song and all your insipid dreams will come true." and in Frozen Elsa say to Anna "You can't marrying a guy that you just have met.". Both have happened in Disney movies of the past, mostly in Princess movies such as Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty (especially those).
