I appreciate your research.I would like to add that when swami Vivekananda landed in Madras port after his Chicago meeting he adressed The public from Icehouse and so it is called Vivekananda House.

Small correct Tudor "infact" was not the eureka guy it was Tudor's brother who jokingly over a drink asked why cant we just transport these ices to west indies and thats how he [Tudor] started the business. Also you failed to mention that the ice house was a house for young brahmins widow who lost their husbands during the child marriage it was run by "Sister Subulakshmi" a very prominent women in madras history. It became Vivekandar Illam only post Independence i guess during the 1960s.
