why mikkos didnt pull vills is beyond my comprehension
only a few minutes in and the trade house looks to fast castle which is arguably an alternate Rus power play (other is long imperial with siege).
I think downfall actually did a 200 iq deception move. He goes golden gate and bought his stone for the tc which meant the enemy would have seen no mining camp on the stone and no stone gathered… and as a result think that he is only on 1 tc. Big brain moves

130 to like 30 vils... rams didnt win game.. mikkos judgement did... he cleaned most of the army but never pulled vills.. he should know hes done a ton of eco damage to the rus player all he had to do was pull vils to repair/take out rams and he wins

You are Completely right. He could have lost 60 villagers doing what you described and still it would have been the right move
