The "singing culture" is normal here in the Philippines and as you've seen many ordinary people are so good at singing that's why we Filipinos have really high standard when it comes to our local singers. The use of autotune or lip syncing is a big NO here that's why artists always perform live, just like what sb19 always do.

Must be a spontaneous radical mutation event because I assure you that my generation back to my parents don't have that gene in our genome. Maybe it's the daily practice if singing Bayang Magiliw that drove the mutation event 😝🤣🤣🤣

Spot on comment… Filipinos can be critical towards their own artists. I believe that was one of the reasons why our MAHALIMA aka SB19 got lots of criticism and had lack of support during their debut. Filipinos tend to be more critical towards our own. But thank goodness SB19 and other PPop artists are tenacious and are willing to do the hard work to make their mark!

Here in the Philippines you don't have to be a professional singer or having a voice lesson with professional singing coach to have that good and amazing voice, all you have to do is to be a FILIPINO 😁 This amazing voices that you reacted are very common here that we heard almost everyday in neighborhood, in the street, in malls and everywhere. Proud to be a FILIPINO here 🎉

I guess we compensate for the things that we lack or what we have less in life, singing has become an outlet for most of us and is considered a form of recreation but has become a passion later on, thus a Filipino party is never complete without an enormous amount of food, booze and karaoke. Thanks PT your videos bring us joy, every time🥰✌️🙏💜💜💜

The karaoke machine was invented by a Filipino, although karaoke was started in Japan, the karaoke machine allowed anyone to be able to sing. In the Philippines, at any gathering, parties or just in the neighborhood, singing and merriment is part of the culture, singing with a karaoke machine is common place. Yes, there are a lot of regular citizens who can carry a tune and the standard in the Philippines is quite high. If you want to be an artist and singer, you must have the voice chops, singing live with your own vocals.. Thank you Purple Twins for always supporting Filipino artist, it’s people and music. Can I please ask for your names? 💜💜

Music is an integral part of Filipino life. We sing everyday. I'm not a professional singer but I can assure you I can belt songs like there is no tomorrow hahaha. We sing in church, in school and at home. All celebrations won't happen without music, usually karaoke. Part of the basic education school curriculum MAPE which stands for Music, Art and Physical Education (P.E. can either be sports or dance). Music to us isn't just about skill. It's our way of expressing our emotions, whether that is happiness or grief. This explains why you will seldom see a Filipino singing without passion. Another training ground for most of us are the singing competitions that happen in every corner of the country. Most of our popular talents are products of years and years of joining several singing competitions on radio and TV.

Even growing up overseas singing and music seem to be an integral part of growing up in the Filipino culture. Family gatherings usually have karaoke, a kid playing the piano or other instrument, and maybe an uncle who plays the guitar while people sing along. If you are interested, you might want to give a listen to Daryl Ong. He has a very R&B style of singing. He sometimes sings with Bugoy Drilon, and Michael Pangalinan who you have both reacted to before. They go by Budakhel and have a very Boyz to Men vibe about them. Also, both Josh Cullen and Justin from SB19 have some recent solo songs.

There are lots of great singers in the Philippines, but the local entertainment industry really needs to work on how to package and market them to the international community. On top of that, the industry is mainly dominated by a few large networks that only focus on their own signed talents, limiting the exposure of other great artists.

Filipinos don't usually give a standing ovation during a singing contest, no matter how good the artist is. If a Filipino audience does give a standing ovation, it means you are truly exceptional and have met the Filipino standard of excellence. This is an observation I've made about Filipino audiences.
