Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In part one of this two-part episode of Friends Green Porsche Prep Book, we take a look at two generation 2 Porsche 997s that we've taken into stock, demonstrating our pre-sales preparation process. In part two, we discuss why the convertible variant is less popular than the coupe.

Can’t see the link to pt2 Luke🤷
I'm not a convertible fan period, however , I have owned my 06' 997 convertible for a year now and love it.

I'm of the same opinion, and I own an '07 997 Cabrio! Funny how that works...

I never thought I’m gonna have convertible Porsche. I even told people before not to buy it. I have for sometime 2005 997 Carrera S convertible, and I love it.
What a shocker from the garage that did the work, they clearly emptied out the coolant into a bucket, reused it and topped up with water. Bunch of cowboys. Great work by you to spot it all, looks like you are building more outbuildings, an update on plans would be interesting 👍🏻
I bought my 997 from Luke and there is no doubt it was prepared really well and has since lived up to expectations. I love watching these videos not just to validate my own decision to buy from FGP :-)

Can’t wait for the day I do too!
Always super interesting Luke! Keep up the great work. I can see why folks in the UK would want to deal with your outfit when it comes time to buy or service a Porsche 911. Greetings from Canada!
FGP going from strength to strength - that inspection is a valuable asset for potential new owners.
28 mins and we still don't find out your reasoning for not selling cabs. Scandalous 😅 Those wheels immediately looked better, I wish people would stop with the black wheels now.
Super video Luke. Your diligence and integrity makes me so glad I bought my 996 from you. The thoroughness of your inspection is first class. Can't wait to watch the elusive part 2!
Excellent vid, great information. Certainly tells a story on the cars !
Really interesting and transparent again, thanks.
I would definitely buy my next porsche from these guys. Great video
Water or moisture can boil giving spongy brake pedal or actual brake failure.
I really like your channel, and the content you post, thanks! I'm currently looking for a 997.1 base Carrera. Would you recommend the Tiptronic or a manual? Is the Tiptronic reliable?
Standing! Behind you! Great videos by the way! 🤣
Glad to know my Targa is in good hands Luke
Great video again - can’t see the link to pt2?
Hahaha love how your mind changed as soon as you got the roof down. That's exactly what a convertible is about...
I love that gray coupe! It's so sleek looking. You are so thorough with your inspections. Anyone buying one of these from you should be confident they are getting a solid car. So Olie is a burrito conoseur? I used to eat a lot of them here but I made myself change my diet a few months ago and lost 35+ pounds.
Great informative video 👌
Great vid. Where’s part 2?! 😁
I wish we had a good honest Porsche mechanic in florida you guys are the bomb ! Cheers
Does FGP have a US counterpart or anything similar that you recommend I check out?
Link for pt2 not in the description.
Excellent video! I have a 2008 Carrera S coupe and l enjoyed watching your explanation of the faults found on your inspection. I am looking forward to Part II. I was aware of the common mechanical faults but your explanation and visual description was outstanding. Thank you for your honesty.
Quick question - what issues have you seen spring up when the exhaust starts to leak (post-cat) from rusted/missing flange nuts? I’m currently working on fixing a small leak in the same exact spot (just got my entire exhaust system removed after days of fighting with rusty nuts and bolts) but I have been getting a catalyst efficiency error (code P0431, 997.2 C2) and I’m wondering if the leak could be causing the catalytic converter to lose heat, triggering that error. Seems far fetched but who knows. The honeycomb inside both cats looks virtually perfect so I don’t think my issue is with a bad catalytic converter. For good measure, I am also just replacing all 4 O2 sensors since I could very well have a bad O2 sensor. Galled up the threads upon removal of one of the O2 sensors the other day though 😡, so I bought a thread chaser which will hopefully allow me to salvage the threads 🤞

Also, fantastic vid. I loved seeing your process of inspecting and getting these cars ready for sale. Super methodical. If I were in the market for a new 997 and lived in the UK, I would 100% look to you guys first. And speaking as someone who has experience with photography, your imagery is great and it’s super smart to maintain a consistent look across the different cars you sell for that immediate brand recognition and cleaner website look.
I have a 2012 997.2 C4S Cabriolet & it's PERFECT for me. That's the point! It's what you like not what someone else likes. Besides, I live in sunny Southern California where Cabs are the norm. You can here your engine sound much better which, among other things, makes for a more exhilarating experience.

Exactly!
part 2? I assume "Convertible Less Popular Than The Coupe" is in there?
Great video. It could be the workshop's fault or it could be the owner trying to save money as he wants to sell the car?
Interesting video but you seem to have covered everything but what the title of the video states.
do you have TACO BELL in england?....asking for a friend and 997.1 owner from germany.....so he would not have to go for a 7 hours flight anymore ....in case....
The Early 997.2s are the best imho they used slightly cheaper materials in the later cars Bose is not worth having
What's the name of the cowboy garage ?? Really should be public info ...

@@danrook5757 that's not true. you can expect pouring rain during the winter in Southern California. perhaps 15 to 20 rainy days each year.
long story short: it looks like cayman from side. End of story ...
The black car looks great now it’s been de-ethnic spec’d.
And this is why I would never buy a 2nd-hand Porsche from anything other than a trusted specialist.
They weren’t torqued
