Why is Table mountain in Cape Town FLAT?! [S5 - Eps. 28]

In this episode, Savannah gets some well needed work done, ánd I am exploring the gorgeous Cape Town a bit more. I ride around the colourful neighbourhood of Bo Kaap and attempt to get to the top of Table Mountain. Even though it's unfortunately too windy to get to the top, I will explain to you why this mountain is flat!

I am originally from South Africa 🇿🇦, living in the USA 🇺🇸 for last 20+ years riding a Harley. Watching Noraly ride through South Africa make me so homesick and allowing me to look back and re-fall-in-love with the unique beauty of this Amazing part of the world. Noraly, thank you for all the trips down memory lane and for everything you do to promote riding, positivity, endurance and most of all South Africa.

Hi Noraly, I went to Cape Town in 1970, I was 21 and with my new wife on our way home to Australia from Germany, we were on a ship as in those days flying was far to expensive … anyway we went from Canary Islands down to Cape Town, I knew about Table Mountain & wanted to see it from the top. As soon as the ship docked we were off & got on the first cable car of the day ( they were just big metal boxes I remember ) when we got to the top we were reprimanded for travelling up with some of the staff ( who were black, we had never experienced apartheid before. ). After only maybe half an hour the cloud dropped but we got some photos, no one else got to see the view that day because of the cloud ! On our way back into town we saw the massive black / white division that was in South Africa in those days ….. I really want to go back and see S.A. & Cape Town again …. From your video it looks amazing …. Thanks for showing places in such detail and un-biased perspective …… your travels are an eye opener ….. cheers from Australia ( p.s. I bought my first motorbike in 40 years after watching Itchy Boots for so long & yes it is a RE Himalayan …..

i like when they let you film in the garage to see what's done to the bike. i'm just watching this in 2023 and went to look up this shop, sadly i saw on their facebook page that Davis was in a big motorcycle accident end of 2022 which he still has to recover from.... 🙏😢

Next time you stop behind a pickup, or as you know by know a:Bakkie in SA, and it says Isuzu on the back, her name is :Suzi, one of the pet names we have for our vehicles. Kind regards, South Africa

Savanah is happy and so are we, Noraly. Now we know you are safer than usual. I know the Dutch history you shared is negative for that period, but it teaches us as we all grow and worth sharing, lest we forget. Just like the two wars in Europe. Too bad about no access to Table Mountain. Nice ride up to the main entrance though, and beautiful view on the way back. Love your constant on the fly adjustments of your plan where your positive attitude doesn't "paint you into a corner". Once again thanks for the geology lesson on the formation Table Mountain, opening our eyes to "what we DON'T see" and widening our understanding. Appreciate you taking us past Camp's Bay. Take care and ride safe. 🖖🏽🤟🏽

Hi Noraly, I enjoyed your explanation of Table Mountain. That makes sense. We say the same thing in radiology, sometimes it is what you don’t see is the significant finding. I’ll be there in Cape Town in several weeks, your travels are awesome to watch. Buen viaje mi amiga.

The little 250 Honda has done you proud Noraly! I am surprised to see how well the bike handles anything you demand of it. The maintenance after all these recent travels has been very minor it seems, consisting mainly of some upgrades, minor damage repairs and existing minor faults which may be expected with a second-hand purchase.

Very informative talk on Table Mountain. Thank you Noraly. Signal Hill is above Bo Kaap, then you get Lion's Head, Table Mountain and then Devil's Peak, the area where the fire was. Love watching your channel.

Glad you had a ride around our neighbourhood and enjoyed the sights we normally take for granted. Pity about not going up the mountain but yes, you will have to return to do it another time. Safe travels...

Thanks for sharing your experience at Table Mountain. Had the rare chance to visit that place about 14 years ago. The cable car ride going up Table Mountain gave a very beautiful view of the whole area. Ok But nothing compares with the view from the top. The landscape, seascape and mountain ranges all around you .... simply breathtaking! Wow!
