Would have been nice if you showed the power wattage for the GPU while gaming. I saw it maxed out at 100% usage. According to the specs on Intel, it says "60W - 80W TGP". It feels like the performance I get from my Iris integrated graphics. How does the laptop determine to use the integrated vs discrete GPU?

What GPU driver version was used in testing?

There is also a model with an A730M

I bought an X15 from newegg myself a couple of months ago (12th Gen I7, A550m, 32GB, 1TB for $700). Basically it's a bare bones laptop kit that the seller did minimal and outdated setup. Not ready out-of-the-box and had to reinstall/update everything from the BIOS to the drivers and OS. Now it purrs like a kitten...very powerful for the money, so I'm pleased. I was more concerned with stuff like CPU, RAM, and DPC latency...the graphic performance was just a bonus. The X15 had better specs than anything else in that price range. Using it mainly for content creation, with only some occasional gaming. Not a gamer really, but I have stuff collected from sales like the Star Wars games (Battlefronts, Fallen Order, Squadrons), Guardians of the Galaxy, the Batman Arkhams, racing games, etc. plus some console emulation. This laptop has handled everything I've thrown at it so far. No branding or logos whatsoever so I like to tell people it was made in Wakanda.

I've heard that this chasis has heating issues and really short battery life. Also the performance seems to be between an rtx 3050 and 3060 (closer to 3050 I think

AV1 encoder quality on these Arc gpus is actually pretty good so I guess dedicated streaming machine could be one of the use cases? Sure, rtx 4050 also has AV1 encoders but these Arc laptops are still at least couple of hundred of $/€ cheaper if thats all that you need so it might not be a bad deal at all. I stream couple of sports events every year and having AV1 available would be pretty great tbh

i didn’t know ASUS acquired NUC, learned that from this video. now that i know that, im honestly kinda surprised we haven’t seen an official ASUS ROG NUC thing. unless that does exist, if it does im obviously none the wiser lmao

I kind of like the bundle that this laptop represents, although it is a little unbalanced. The 8gb of VRAM along with a beefy CPU at 700 dollars is a killer value, although it is hamstrung by drivers, cooling (hitting over 90 degrees whilst below 50% utilization) and just 16gb of RAM. The RAM you can fix though, and drivers do get better over time. If only they had gone with an i7-12650h and cut the price by another 20$, but thats just me being nitpicky. Overall, good job and nice find!

I bought this laptop on Newegg and I had to return it. I didn’t want to return, but unfortunately, it had a lot of bugs. I think was due to bad drivers from Intel, this laptop manufacturer. Mine was i7 12th, 32ram, gpu a730m 12gb. It is a beast. Super fast… Now let’s talk the problems. First off, battery life is terrible. I think it didn’t last 30 minutes. I did everything, updated all the drivers, installed OS again from scratch and no success. The fans get very loud in idle sometimes. One time I left it charging on my bed, and if I didn’t come back too see my bed could be in fire. It was sooo hot that I could smell burnt plastic. And the main problem for me when you closed the lid it won’t go to sleep mode… after all this is a very solid construct laptop, excellent trackpad, speakers, keyboard and screen. But with very bad drivers.

I did have my one since half year now and be happy after modding it with a lot of cooling pads. In the Bios i am Able to allow the OS Energy Plans also. No Problems with anything, Linux and Arc with Games runs also Good. I hope my one stay for a long time.^^

For context, I just bought a 1996 honda civic for $650. I wonder which one you would rather have.

The nuc laptops are excellent. I have never ever had an issue with one. Better than a razr or Asus. Never ever had a hardware or driver issue because it is just so good.

Finally a gaming laptop that isn’t the same ryzen cpu + nivida gpu

Unfortunately it only makes sense recently to go with Intel, and not with this model. Intel has refused to have a decent mobile CPU and integrated GPU for generations and now they finally have the Core Ultra series. Unfortunately it looks like this one might use one of the categorically dismissible CPUs from the ~8th to 14th gens that are all low end trash for mobile use.

How would this stack up to a 3050/4vram -11400/16ddr4 laptop?

For $100 more you can get the A730M version and get 30%-50% better gaming performance which is still a great price and the A730M beats the 2050M pretty handily in newer titles and 3d benchmarks. .

Hope the battery life isn't abysmal. Seems like their mobile CPUs are pretty purposefully wretched.

damn that is a good looking laptop, the keyboard is a bit too crammed for my liking (I don't really care much about inbuilt speakers) but everything else looks good for the price.

Anyone remember the OverPowered gaming laptops from Walmart a few years ago? Same price, same results will happen, it will die on you.

ngl for integrated graphic even my rtx 3050ti laptop has higher frame rate than this, but for the look how stealth is it. its good enough, just hoping it get a730m instead a530m

"Only about 30-40fps" - Wow, I'm happy if I'm in the high 20s on games, and consider hitting a consistent 30+ a win where I can focus on image quality. Guess that stems from me not being made of money so I'm still clunking along with a GTX 970.

Have the x15 with i7 a730m. Play bf1 ultra settings with Arc graphics drivers. Get +110fps in bf1 at 1080p with 144hz on the laptop.

So nice. I modded my one with a lot of cooling pads and disabled E-Cores for better and stable FPS in Shooter. Can play everything i want on high and ultra with 50 FPS and not that much GPU Power Limited on 75 Watt CPU 45 Watt. Perfekt Laptop also for Work with.

I get 140fps on my 2050 without performance mode, that one ain't good at all

the only genuinely i like on this laptop is stealth, it has no branding and in turn it looked good.. other than that , gpu is disappointing.. should've gone with higher tier like 7xx one..

this would prob be really good with Valorant since the CPU is so good.

You guys should start overclocking these laptop GPUs sometimes, instead of just out of the box performance. The I was able to get 10%-15% FPS increase overclocking and undervolting my 12700H 3050Ti laptop.

Oh you would not expect what that chips can do. ;-) I have 6x DG2 becouse a joke for the price. i got modern power for everything i can imagine with it... Bandwith in specs do a lot too. Quality of image on the screen is insane,.. Change my mind....

The only thing good about Intel is its grip on the laptop market (mostly because of supply). Even the latest 165U (14th Gen Ultra 7) is a potato by AMD and Apple standards. It's exciting to see what Qualcomm has in store with Snapdragon X Elite
