Wow that family pic at 9:36, It is crazy how much rita looks like her mom and Hogan looks just like his dad. Also got a good giggle at 2:56, reminded me of my pops... It's a skill to let one rip and carry on a conversation with a strait face haha 😆. Glad to see you and your family are well buckin!

Was it Rita that was at bunyan? I believe thats who we met in the Ripsaw tent right after talking to you. What a great young woman, she was so nice to us, complete strangers and to have a conversation with me and my girlfriend, you are great people. Thank you buckin, for lending me some of your time that morning, and for everything else, your family is as much to blame as you my friend, without them behind you, a guy couldnt make it happen.

Buckin! I’m that Seth, lol. Thank you for the reply! I may have gotten spoiled by the 500i I get to run at work and got a little ambitious with my 400.. lol! Never thought an email would’ve resulted in a video! Thank you so much for your presence and for passing along your knowledge to those of us who are still a little green.. thanks again!

Seth, don't give up the 400, I have many big saws and my 400 with West coast Dawgs, bark box, and 25 inch Sugi hara bar will cut just as fast as any of them. The 500i is definitely more powerful, buy not by much in my opinion, keep using it and try different chains, mine likes the Oregon EXL, as long as I don't file the rakers too low.

@@tonymiles3106 I couldn't agree more, sorry Buckin but your way off on this advice bud, you keep calling the 400 a small saw, it's 67cc man lol, the 572 is only 3 more cc's! If you're running it right that 400 should have no problem whats so ever cutting big maple at all! We all can't be givin a 500i ha! and a 400 is cheaper, lighter and almost as good if you are running it right! You got this Seth with what you have, check your chain sharpness and raker heights and if you have to, go to a less aggressive chain depending on the length of bar your using, also try cutting half the log and switch sides to work through the rest, you may have to switch sides a few times.

I don't believe BBR said what size bar you were using on the 36" Maple. If you are running a longer bar then the 400 came with? I would suggest maybe trying a skip tooth chain also. They are an awesome chainsaw but every saw has its limits and sweet spots!

Tell Ms Rita belated Happy Birthday. It's good to spend time with family and especially when the two of you can work together like you and your son do at times. I've been using my dad's old MS 390 for a while now and you answered my question in my mind about the "Dawgs". I've been sharpening my chainsaw chains like I've learned from you and have noticed that ya don't take a hard bite because it'll stall out. Thanks for the information Buckin Billy Ray. God bless from Northeast Alabama

I have the Stihl400C and absolutely love it. But I also have a MS260 and MS 660. The 400C is a great saw for running a 20 inch bar. I'm from New Zealand and our fuel is 3 times the price of your fuel in the US. So there are big savings here from running a smaller saw in smaller wood. It's horses for courses.

We feel the pinch... Smaller wood smaller saw Went from years of plug in electric saws (close to houses and power) to now a battery Stihl, she's a skinny little weakling like me. Have an old 025 with 18" bar for my backup muscle. I buy the premixed fuel in a can because i don't run the gas saw very often.🌲♻️🍀

Happy birthday to Rita! Buckin, I have learned that smaller saws have many limitations. I think that your answer to the email was great. Another reason why the saw may be stopping in the cut is that it is getting pinched. I have a small saw that automatically stops when it senses the slightest pinch

Have a Stihl MS 400 and i am very lucky with it. I think that there is a chainsaw for every area of application. For me the 500 was to heavy, i think that the 261 or 550Xp would have been enough for me, but i decided to go a little bit stronger, which is mor than enough for me. The 400 is between the 362 and 462. It revs very quickly and the torque is good, i will take a few tanks to break in. I use a 16" and 25 inch (good enough to stand up and buck) on it. In my little forest the trees do not go over 25inch diameter. And i lke the sound of the chainsaw.....

Auto exposure,is a feature found in cameras and imaging devices that automatically adjusts the exposure settings (such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO sensitivity) to achieve optimal brightness and contrast in a photograph or video. This ensures that the image is neither too dark nor too bright, but rather properly exposed. Or a good picture.

2 Minutes into the video, and I remember the first car my dad bought. It was a Mercedes-Benz 170 V from the late 40s, and it was his working car. Had a leaky radiator for a few weeks because he couldn't afford to fix it, and he took that car everywhere. We went on family trips on the weekend and stop at little creeks along the roadside to refill the radiator a few times. Ah yes, the good old days 🙃 I loved that car

I work for Stihl and they have actually been putting the wrong sprocket on the 400 c. They have been putting the 7 in when the saw needs an 8

The 7 should give it more torque...An 8 would make his current issues even worse!

The 400 is a great saw I would never put more than a 20 inch bar on it in hardwood country. You can probably run a 28 up there in Canada where the softwood is not here in Hardwood country.

I still wouldn’t run over a 24-25”er on it. Both “sizes” take 84 drivers for the chain.

When i wood aggressively push my little 025 with 16" bar into some thick hardwood it bog down, quickly pulling it out wood keep it from stalling. Now i have 18" with a sharper chain and a mindset being at peace and not in a hurry. Staying as safe as possible by moving cautiously because once your over 60 accidents are easier. ⏳💡👣🪓

Ah, I feel like the 400c is similar to the 262XP Husqvarna which is my all time favorite saw. But then again I have 20+ saws… Have a great day!

The lighter weight magnesium piston makes the 400 rev fast and is what gives it a little better power to weight ratio. But, the lighter weight piston also causes the 400 to bog if you push on it too hard.

cameras come equipped with an "Auto Exposure" function that will automatically calculate the exposure value and control the aperture value and shutter speed for you.

@BuckinBillyRaySmith actually I'd leave it on. You were moving. You had the bright gray sky and dark for ground where you were. The camera is just trying to compensate for the different exposures as you were walking. If it was on a tripod it would be stationary and wouldn't have to compensate for the different lighting.

It does make sense that if the camera is stationary THAT feature will perform better. ✅

A higher ISO setting makes the sensor more sensitive to light, allowing for brighter images to be captured in low-light conditions. However, increasing the ISO sensitivity also introduces more digital noise or graininess into the image. Conversely, a lower ISO setting reduces sensitivity to light, resulting in darker images but with less noise. Photographers adjust the ISO setting based on the lighting conditions and the desired balance between image brightness and noise.
