my best frogbit tank is an overstocked 10g with an aqueon clip on led light and a glass folding lid. they just go nuts in there, but if there's other floating plants in there they start to suffer, so I have to de-duckweed it before it starts crowding it out by getting between the leaves and then on top of the leaves. I think the big thing is no competition and a high bio load

Frogbit I seen does best in little to no flow. It hates moving around and getting its leaves wet lol. I have it going well in one tank with a small sponge and the frogbit on the opposite side. Also it doesn't like ferts, not in my water. It also doesn't like high light, it seems to burn the leaves.

I have an outside Rubbermaid 100 gl tub and I have to get rid of the frogbit every couple of weeks… I think it just needs a lot of light!

Lol I'm still struggling with anubias, sprite and wisteria but had success with frogbit right from beginning. They even thrive along with duckweed and pothos in the same tank. I think the key to it is high bioload and low flow. **Just watched your video and I think it's because of competition. Try doing Frogbits-only tank.

Yep. Seems to only grow in my tank with a sponge filter. All other tanks have a HOB and sponge they are also get holes, Yellow and die.

I notice with my tanks which have deep sand the nitrates took 8 months to build up enough to grow duckweed. Maybe the water lettuce and duckweed is using up the nutrients quicker than the frogbit can?

Soooo crowded Probably you should try a new small tank with the Frogbit but place it in front of natural light

I just uploaded a video to tik tok of a tank that’s overgrown with Frogbit and Red Root Floater. I’ve had success with it growing in softer water and under a aquaworx light.

My honest advice, is make sure it’s in a low flow tank and is the only plant in an established tank…just to start it up. I say established because I find it does best in tanks that are only getting water changes once every 2 weeks. Once the plant gets acclimated and starts sprouting, you can keep that tank as your propagation tank and move it to any of the others very easily.

I would keep what tanks you have and not get any more. You could start breeding and selling fish but that's more time consuming.

I had success with frogbit in a low flow tank and with a large bioload to provide tons of nutrients. The porch area would cool with like maybe a coldwater pond and plants to make it a green space
