Thanks to Thurman for info. One OK hazard not mentioned was earthquakes, the damage they cause, and whether it is covered by typical homeowner's policies or requires a rider, or is even available for coverage.

Is there an area or county in OK at more risk then others for extreme weather damage, that will have higher insurance rates?

Hot water heaters going can cause major damage especially if you live in an apartment. I lost 75% of my belongings when a 75gal tank went in the apartment above mine during the day when everyone was at work.

You know of an upstairs apartment with a 75 gallon water heater? How many people have seen a residential tank that large? It also was installed improperly if it flooded anything unless it exploded or the water lines failed instead of the tank.

@@arnoldjohnson3317 I lived in Boston when this happened and I don’t doubt it was installed incorrectly. The water heater serviced 3 apartments that were 2 bed/2 bath units. My point is that people often forget that it needs to be checked regularly to ensure there are no leaks. It is one of those out of sight, out of mind things.
