When it comes to works of charity... It's not about just giving your 20 dollars to a mission or food shelf, but rather also looking for the needs around you and meeting the ones you can. We as a people have been failing in this area. Amassing things for ourselves rather than helping those with real needs. Even asking at your church if anyone is out of work and struggling and maybe helping them to find work or giving them yard work or buying them food or paying a utility bill to help them get through. That's how it was in the first century church, that's how it should be now.

@@davidbalicki3567 Luther broke the unity of the Church. It is a mess to have so many so called Christian groups fighting with each other. They can't agree on basically anything. That causes great confusion to people outside Christianity who want to enter the Church of Christ.

I don't trust anyone who will not admit there is a crisis in the Catholic Church too.

Whose not admitting that? In fact ALL who volunteer in the Church are required to take a Saftey class before volunteering. The Safety Class goes into the crises in the church. In fact when this crises came out and all was said and done statistically the amount of abuse in the Church was about 1%. Also found was the Church had no more abuse than school teachers, coaches, camps ECT. Also every Diosease here in USA has a button on their website to report any child abuse through the Church. You can even post anonymously.

@YAJUN YUAN Every thing seems to be upside down just like in our societies throughout the world today. Read any of the Catholic news. A good way to start is the Lifesite News. There are also many others. Don't watch the leftist Catholic news as they are as FAKE as the news of most TV channels. They are pro-abortion and pro- everything that is wrong with our society today. I'm surprised you don't know. I ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes wide so you may be able to be involved in movements that are trying to help the Church. But do not panic as Jesus is running His Church and in time, he'll make the necessary corrections. Just pray, hope and don't worry as Padre Pio advises us to do. God bless you my brother in Christ.

he does it primarily for the money. if he had any real conviction, he'd be hated by the modernists who have control of the Church. i met him 12 months ago. wasn't impressed. while i do recommend getting this work in "Understand the Scriptures (Didache Series)", i wouldn't necessarily call him holy.

So glad I found this video. Can't wait to read Fr. MURRAY book, Calming the Storm. God bless him.

@YAJUN YUAN There is no "theological crisis"in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. The 2,000 + year old Church of Christ has a magisterium that can not be changed by anyone including the Popes. The issues today are simple and can be corrected by a Pope. Let us pray that Jesus will intervene to correct those issues. He may be testing us.

@@mariobros7205 The scandals are one aspect. We have to be aware also of the watering-down in the teaching of the Faith which really took off following the end of the Second Vatican Council. We also have to take into account less formal forms of worship as we see in the "New Mass" which distorts the relationship between God and us. Pray and do penance while we await the coming of the Lord! Oremus!

Many of us, who had a more ethnic upbringing, have been canceled by our children, who have been programmed by the culture to simply dismiss anyone who expresses themselves passionately. We are losing our sense of righteous passion and the attending work and accomplishment ethic. Sad and frightening. It is killing our country. The drive the immigrants brought over here built this country. I realize the elite have done their best to kill us off by war, abortion and pestilence, but some remnant of us are still here. Keep beating the drum, sir! You are heard.

We, I say we, as a society, have told God we don't Him. Is it any surprise He has left us to our own devices? Of course, my views don't apply to everyone, but as a long-time sinner who has only recently returned to the Church after a very long absence I have learned this much, He is here and waiting for us to wise up. God wants us to come home. He's left the light on. The enemy is out there as well though, but he is a much more demanding master from whom you receive nothing no matter how much you give him. It took me a long time to realize that simple truth. And I deeply regret it.

Why would your god encourage suffering just so you can learn grace. How stupid is that. You only suffer if you create sin. It's called karma. Law of cause and effect. If you believe that suffering is normal if you haven't done anything wrong then you are definitely brainwashed. Grace is a natural trait that some people possess and it doesn't come from suffering. You are in a cult. 😀👎

Consider the fire of Notre Dame. Beautiful irreplaceable artwork was lost. Yet Our Blessed Lord in the Most Holy Eucharist, the altar, the holy relics, and the stained glass gazed upon inspiring so many Saints and Doctors of the Church survived. And the church was in need of repair and failing to raise the recources for the cost. Since then, though there are problems, Notre Dame continues to have a course forewards where before only uncertainty was. Remember the image of the Cross shining amidst the smoke and ashes. God is still in control, the storm obeys Him and He knows what He is about. Trust Him.

Notre Dame burned. We do not want to know by whom. Now, it will be rebuilt the same externally and totally transformed internally, by the Progressive Elite. Is this not a perfect metaphor or am I missing something?

The Jewish people were in exile for 4 centuries but God still won out. We may not see the end, but God knows what He is about. Our ways are not His ways nor our thoughts His thoughtss. All that opposed God is doomed to death and failure. Trust Him.

I think that's unfair. Scott Hahn is a man worth listening to always. I've learned so much about scripture from him. He has an amazing grasp on what is happening in the Church atm. Having said that, I would like to have heard more from Fr Gerard. He has a passionate love for the Church and for Truth

Simple answer, “Free Will”

We need reverence and tradition in the liturgy. We can continue to ignore that fact/reality if we like. People leave because they don’t believe in the real presence. It’s that simple.

Church leadership is in a mess to tell people to stay faithful to God and push bad leadership aside. So, heresy leadership encourage laity to stand with faithful priests, SSPX, cloister religious nuns ... to fight such evil and cling to Jesus Christ forever for his love is greatest through the Holy Spirit in the church.

That is awesome.... I do feel like I'm tired and need a nap for a while ;;))

I tuned in to hear Father talk about his new book. Maybe he will get that chance next time.

"Have a proper understanding of who the Lord is, pray to Him and then imitate Him." That's good advice. I'm working up to number three.

On Easter Sunday Jesus rose from the dead and spent 40 more days o, earth preparing His Apostles and disciples to spread the Gospel and lead and build His Holy Church on earth. Many will offer reparation and repentance to receive this gift of Jesus to the Father for us. They can go to Heaven for an eternity of Peace Joy and Love with God.The Father Son and Holy Spirit and all the angels and saints. Hopefully including you.

Perhaps the crisis is like other past crises, which will inform a better understanding of what "being Church" means. We would get a better, more fundamental self understanding, and so come closer to God.

I like the subject. As a truck driver. We want thinks more direct. I hear this in a different way. Father and Dr. Hahn are being living a caring. Criss in the church is always. Look at how Our Lord makes just about anything. It’s his recipe and it’s his history. When you are with Jesus, than don’t be afraid. He isn’t asleep. He is testing and teaching at the same time. See if you got, what it takes. Crisis because if we are with him, we are going to be okay. But if you aren’t, you will pay some day on your own faults. He isn’t letting or wants us to go through this. We do it to our selves with sin! This is why his name, means Savior. Salvador!! I don’t like Sal, in Spanish it is salt. But which salt. You see good or bad? You would have to say goodsal or badsal. That doesn’t work. Xavier or Savior? Think about it. God has the hole recipe, and it is a secret. Divine Mistry. What Scott says about Germany may be the overarching effect of a sorely tempted churchman in the figure of Luther which led to great hatred for the mother church. I watched the documentary based on your recommendation. Had high hopes. I was born in Germany, a protestant minister, a massive fan of Luther and devoted to protestant reformation teachings. I became Catholic. Confirmed Dec 22, 2020. Luther is a heretic. Is guilty of playing a role in causing so much strife and horror in the last 500 years. Some food for your thought... Msgr. F Ocariz has just wrote a masterpiece. In a few paragraphs to his flock he shows the way by leading everyone into unity and love for the Church. A seemingly surprising reaction to the adversity his institution is suffering.

Uplifting to listen to this discussion with Scott Hahn and Fr Murray, I need to focus on God’s plan again and disregard the ongoing revelations that are attempting to destroy our church.

Earthly things always seem in disarray. Cling to Jesus, Holy Mother Church and our Holy Father and things will work out.

God allows Man to exercise his Free Will, and the Church is run by men. It's that simple. God will raise up good men to right the ship in God's Time. In the meantime it really hurts to witness those in positions of power and authority burn and defile our Blessed Church.

Many clerics, those who sought radical change, who are now old, cannot admit the falsity of their vision. They are content with a church that is hardly more than an logo with religious trimmings. As if they could ever have the respect of those who see all that as mere theatre.

Ancipital The leader of you Church does not hate you. I don't know why His Holiness Pope Francis is trying to cancel the Latin Mass. That will never happen. Jesus loves you, don't worry if a bishop dislike you, even the Bishop of Rome. God bless you.

When they give the society grief, pushback hard that they fought for the faith in the courts and in public without shame or hesitation. In the Los Angles archdiocese, there were some TLM and Eastern rites open and serving the faithful, gomez was AWOL , but still demanding money.

I did and will continue to do so , 2. what are you going to do about it ? , I will admit he is a son of something , are you in this archdiocese , do you know of what you speak or is this obsequies commentary a reflex ?. That he coddles and encourages the excreta roger mahoney , and jimmy martin at the LA REC ( Los Angeles Religious Education Conference) among other venues , their presentations and their very presence make decent people turn away in fury and disgust , the insults to traditional Catholic teaching is an outrage that gomez accepts. Are you aware of the " assessments" he imposed in 2020 , could this be because of the state easing of the statute of limitations on child abuse i.e. a mahony tax ?!. During the pandemic what did gomez do to rally the faithful ? did he allow adoration or do anything to be the good shepherd he was called to be ? , he did not , asking for money , oh yes , he kept that up . He more then deserves the opprobrium and more for his failures as a man and priest , he is a shame to this archdiocese, and the church.

I've rarely heard such hubris. God never sleeps to us but is available to us whenever we ask with faith. The Roman church is NOT in the hand of the Lord; it is in the hand of humans, and has for many of the past 2000 years been about as far from God as you can get. God is not "making the church go through" anything; wicked and proud men and women, who are NOT doing God's will, are those who are making the church go through things. Keep God's commandment to love Him and one another, and stop collecting material wealth, and the church will perhaps start doing God's will once more.

Jesus is certainly waiting for Catholics to wake from the deep apostasy sleep! O Jesus, help us to liberate the mass of the ages and crush those destroying the Church! May our merciful Lord grant us Holy Bishops again, as we make reparation in sorrow for our sins and the sins of the hiearchy! Purify its clergy and members. Protect our good holy priests thru the Immaculate Heart of Mary and pure heart of St. Joseph.

@@djspenceital When I speak of Traditional Catholicism, it is the mass of the martyrs and saints, not weird movements. I speak of the mass that Jesus Christ shed His blood. Not the novus ordo of protestanism-masonic Bugninis and Bernardines. Pews are empty, theyve weaked the belief in the Real Presence and attack the sacred priesthood;; all deliberate and money exchanged with wolves dressed in Bishops' vestments! Its real! We must understand the true worship of God, not human fraternity.

@@djspenceital Even the VII council are disobedient to the Pope who did not remove all the things that Bugnini etc have deliberately done. They are in schism actually and ushered in all the liturgical disobedience. Its gross, check out Ireland, Canada how they defile our Holy Church....all the abuses to please the people, not to offend Protestants....

@@christineOFS the Traditional Latin Mass isn’t the Mass of Ages. It wouldn’t have even been that recognizable to the Apostles. The Mass has always had different forms in the history of the Church, look at the other liturgical rites for example. Bugnini’s liturgical reform didn’t take place at V2. It took place after. He didn’t disobey the Pope, because it was ultimately up to the Pope to approve the new Order of the Mass, which he did. The Pope is the Bishop of Rome first and foremost. He has authority over the Roman Mass, so long as he’s not removing what is essential to the Mass as instituted by Christ. The new Order of the Mass doesn’t do that. So it can’t be schismatic or heretical. V2 isn’t the reason for the empty pews. There are other cultural factors that contributed to that too. It was a historical process that had already started before V2. The true worship of God includes human fraternity. Otherwise St. Paul would never have said that the entire law is fulfilled when you love your neighbour as yourself (Galatians 5:14). If the true worship of God was just about the order of the Mass over and above human fraternity, then Christ would never have said “I desire mercy and not sacrifice” (Matthew 12:7). We worship God truly when we love God and our neighbour. This is why Traditionalism reduces to the error of the Pharisees.

The title of the book is : "Calming the Storm."by Fr. Gerald Murray.

Only God knows how it all ends. Like watching a playback of a game on TV. You know the score so nothing the players you're watching can change the result. Their efforts contribute to the result because they don't know the outcome but the final score remains. The Bible tells us that at the end only love of God and rejection of God by people will exist. How we get to such an eventuality only God knows but it must play out somehow. We must stay close to Jesus and Mary so we make the right choices.

We each have to choose our path. Everyone must be aware that the majority of people from every background are exposed to temptation. Therefore many if not most can be and are corrupted. There are many who have genuine integrity but others have clearly sold out and do not represent the faith. The faith is greater than any individual. Charlatans need to be removed from the hierarchy. However, the faith will survive whatever attempt they make to undermine it.

I often hear people talk about God testing us, and "tests of faith". For a long time I have wondered why God needs to test us. In education the word "test" has become synonymous with "assessment". We test students in order to assess how well they have learned, and ultimately to give them a grade. Tests are about passing or failing are they not? I always liked tests in school because I saw them as a chance to prove myself. In life, tests are often painful, and I'm not quite so fond of them. So when we speak about God testing us, and tests of faith, this is the background in which I understood it, and I suspect the same is true for many people. This has bothered me for some time. What is the point of God testing us? Surely the All-Knowing God already knows whether you have learned the lesson or not? Surely he knows the outcome of the test before it ever happens. Doesn't it seem like pointless trial in that case? Especially since many tests are so painful. Looking at it this way, the painful tests we endure in life can seem capricious at best and cruel at worst. Eventually I began to come around to a different point of view. Divine tests are not assessments. They are not about getting a passing grade, nor are they about proving yourself to God. God is not trying to determine how well you've learned, he is giving you the opportunity to become. Tests are about transformation. Tests are moments of becoming. The word test comes from Latin "testum" which means "an earthenware pot" and that in turn derives from "testa" meaning " a burnt piece of clay". The image from which the concept of a test comes, is that of clay being put through intense heat until it becomes pottery. It is in the moment of the test (as extended as that moment may be, out to days, months, years, even a life time) that we actually become. Indeed, without the test, we would not be able to become. The test itself is the catalyst that makes the transformation possible.

Some good ideas here, though I often disagree with Fr. Murray regarding Pope Francis. I see no errors or concerns in the theology of Francis, only a bright light for those with eyes to see. At 3:12 Fr. Murray suggests we should tell the Lord to "Calm this storm"; I think an even better response is to say to the Lord "Thank you for accomplishing what you want to do through this storm. May this storm last for as long as you see fit, Lord".

I commend the book , Cross and Culture can jesus save the world by Kurt Mahlburg . But its only for the very brave....love n blessings from Sydney Australia.

I worry about the Catholic Church in America, it seems as if it has politicised itself. I find it very hard to watch you tube videos from the States now, whereas before there used to be great evangelisation, but not any more.

In this clip, Scott Hahn demonstrates how NOT to interview a guest. The first rule of interviewing is to ask your question concisely, then shut up and let your guest talk. Yet here, Fr. Murray gets less than 40% of the air time; Mr. Hahn takes up the rest with his wordy questions and self-indulgent commentary.

Our job is to turn to God & pray for the Catholic Church. Jesus has said we are not to speak badly of his priests. They are his annointed. He is their judge. He said to pray an Our Father for them instead each time a matter is brought up. And remember "Let he who has not sinned throw the first stone." What is going on was allowed by God. It is all written in the bible. We must go through this. We can't do it without God's help.
