I was always taught that Friday the 13th became unlucky due to Philip IV having every Templar arrested on 13th October 1307 which happens to be a Friday, I've visited the city where they were taken to, to be imprisoned, and dealt with as they saw fit. Interesting learning about the other historical influences that shaped the mystics of Friday the 13th being unlucky.

Interesting thing about the Templars is that for quite a number of years after being founded and being in the Holy Land, their numbers were very low. I think there were just 10-12 of them. And in all that time there is no record of them protecting any pilgrims. After all, how could they, since the attackers numbered in the hundreds. And when they got an official charter from the Pope that made their existence official and set forth their goals and duties, that charter said nothing about protecting pilgrims. So what did the Templars do all those years? All we know is that wherever they did, it made them rich. And keep in mind, they recruited 0 new members before getting their charter, and only after that did they start recruiting and receiving wealth from their new members. It would appear that what they were actually doing was digging under Herod's temple, trying to get into Solomon's temple, and into the Holiest of Hollies, to find the treasure buried there. And it looks like they succeeded. The tunnel they used is still there, and Templar artefacts were found in it. What did they find? We don't know. Most likely sacred texts, like those found at the Dead Sea. There was probably treasure, which is how they became so important and powerful that they got a papal charter and everyone wanted to join them. And some say that at least the sacred texts they found, maybe even the Gospel of Jesus, are hidden under Roslyn chapel. Also, as another interesting possibility: the Turin shroud may actually be an image of Jacques de Molay, created as he was being tortured after being captured on that Friday the 13th. It certainly looks just like him. It's dated from that time period as well.

Not sure how this fits in with your channel. But I really enjoyed it. I also hope you'll continue with these nuggets of history and the like. As someone with more than just an interest in occult knowledge, I welcome any and all information, no matter how and where it comes from. A sincere Thank You.

Excellent. Boybyou surely had me absolutely enthralled. I was waiting for the final ooh yeah. Nope same historic story. You did it better than most. Years back. The Friday part is not as important as the lessons learned past. Good work. You rock.

All I really know for certain about Friday the 13th is that in the 4th grade, with no foreknowledge of this curse, I went to a roller skating party that my elementary school threw that evening. Friday the 13th. We stayed after school, threw on our rented skates, and I had a blast rolling and dancing to the music. That is, until I was unlucky enough to be skating past the most obese member of our entire pre-junior high student body. He was a 5th grader who weighed somewhere in the deuce, deuce and a half territory (freedom units). Some smart aleck decided to trip the poor boy right as I passed him. As he fell, his roller skate-clad foot thrust outward in such a way as to get tangled in my own roller skate-clad foot, and down we both went. When I landed, the rotund boy pile drove right into my chest with all of his momentous weight and rolled off the right side of my body towards the shoulder. With the wind knocked out of me, but otherwise not in pain, I collected myself and skated over to the sideline of the gymnasium to catch my breath. When I lifted my right arm to stop at the wall, I felt a thunderbolt of pain blast through my shoulder right at the joint. I have never felt pain of that level before or since, and I've broken several bones, including in my hands. After a few minutes of this throbbing pain, I began to cry from the weight of it. I cried for about 45 minutes waiting for my mother to come pick me up. Nobody called her to let her know I had been injured, because government employees, so she picked me up at the normally expected time. We lived only a few minutes from the school, so I know this is what happened. Given my state when she found me, she rushed me to the ER to have my shoulder x-rayed and have me examined by an expert. After the doctor initially checked me out and had me x-rayed, he had my mother leave the room, stood up on a stool, and pressed down on my supposedly fractured clavicle with all of his substantial weight. This was almost as painful as that initial shock of pain from the injury. I don't know what that nutjob was thinking, but looking back on it, it's the dumbest thing I think I've ever seen a doctor do. I'm not sure why he did that, but in retrospect, I'm not even sure my clavicle was broken in the first place, and it seems like he was trying to actually break it himself. He didn't succeed of course, because he gave up, and gave my mother a line about how my bone resembled a green sapling that can't be literally broken, only bent. FYI, I was never afforded any anesthetic. Regardless, a few days later, after I was in a sling and brace, forced to sleep upright to avoid re-injury of the shoulder, someone told me that the reason for my bad luck on that day was that it was Friday the 13th. I looked, and sure enough, that's the day it happened. That was my initiation into knowledge of that superstition. It's been a tough row to hoe since then avoiding belief in such nonsense, but this story is the truth, or at least as close as I'm honestly able to reproduce it after all these years.

That was a well turned story. Once I thought I stubbed my toe in the middle of the night as I was using my aunts' outhouses as a kid. Upon coming back inside to the light I noticed I'd shore my toenail off on my left big toe all the way back to the knuckle. It never grew back and I started getting an ingrown toenail on the other foot in my late 20's, well pop that guy went too (of my own painful volition this time) and my toes haven't been happier.
