From my experience, I just got a popup that I had to ignore and press volume up again or something, it's supposed to be just a warning in case you don't know what you're doing... Also, about old earphones - Creative's Ep-630 or 660 >_> aside from earphones with literal sponge (can't remember the brand anymore), they had one of the better bass and loudness (the phones I mentioned before that I don't remember company of actually required me to use EQ to lower bass). After sticking with my favs, I went for some Xiaomi, and they're not as good as they're advertised... Though we're in category of budget earphones...........

Bose CAN make outstanding noise canceling headphones. I got a headset with connections to two radios (communication radios, not FM) in the Army that had Bose speakers and earcups. Not only were they great when using radios as they blocked out loud noise (gunfire) but I could still hear my guys around me as well as could talk and hear people over the radios. Even without them connected to radios, they made great noise cancelling headphone for going to the range. When I was a Drill Sergeant, while at the range I could even hear better with those on (i.e. could hear Privates messing around at the far end of the range...much to their surprise) while blocking out the shooting. Bose really nailed it with those...and I DEFINITELY do not have them anymore because I 100% gave those back to the Army before I retired........
@Varadiio
5 жыл бұрын
These types of active noise cancelling ear pro are pretty common. There are expensive ones for military use, some even fit under the helmet, and have features like microphones. The basic ones can be found at walmart or a sporting goods store. The volume is incredible. You can hear conversations that would normally be far too quiet. They have a flaw, though. Direction of sound is completely lost, and this takes some time to acclimate to. I don't know if there are models with better directional sound, but even then I doubt they could be anything close to the situational awareness of bare ears.
@petera.morrison2095
5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, but this was also on point that "NC" over the ear headphones are getting really cheap in quality of late. The build quality of the ones I have tried in audio and electronics shops - stink. Many of the "NC" patents expired, so there are a bunch of knock offs electronics in them now too. The Army (and other military service) versions are expensive, because they were built to last, tested and therefore had to have great noise protection built in to avoid hearing loss. Have you tried the Bose T5 Tactical Headsets? Curious if they are available to civilians and if so, as good as the ones you had.
@Ssensei12
5 жыл бұрын
Millitary ear defenders are designed to amplify sounds such as talking while cancelling noise such as gunfire. If you're just in an aircraft you're probably best trying the QC25's. Especially at that price. If you want more comfortable ear pads, whether it be for ear defenders or noise cancelling headphones I wholly recommend checking out a product called "sightlines" by noisefighters. They are gel ear cups which have a better seal and are more comfortable. They even have cutouts at the top if you need to wear eye protection or glasses and you don't want them being crushed into the side of your head or breaking the seal.

What I like best about LTT is that every video is informative. Even this, which is essentially a review (which should be opinion), is presented in a way that informs. Not just on the product or the reviewer's opinion, but why this specific device is popular. Getting into the actual details and trying to figure PEOPLE out through the tech they buy. It's just really cool. Keep up the great work!
LTT, this is a great series helping to explain exactly what corners are being cut when we buy budget stuff and if it even matters to us.

I got the QC15 and I just recently replaced the ear cups because I didn’t know that was possible when they started to open 3 years. Very happy with those headphones still to this day. Also in looking for those ear cup replacements I found a mod that can turn them into Bluetooth as well so I got that and that also works great! Will hopefully be using for the next decade to come as well.
I’ve had my Bose QC-15 headphones for 10 years. They still work great. The only thing I have had to change out are the ear pads and that is easy to swap out. I have also had a Bose clock radio for the past 20 years that still works great.
i have had mine since they came out in 2014 and use them every day for hours a day. never had a single issue with mine. i use they when im at the gym or at work and at home when i'm on my pc doing anything. wouldn't trade them for anything. never had a single issue. even with hours of use every day for years. the noise cancelling cant be touched as well it works amazing in any condition.

I ordered the Bose QC35 back in 6/2016 and they still work just as good as they did on day 1. I use them at my local public library where there are groups of noisy kids and people on their cell phones and even the occasional band playing music for the kids. I also use them on the NY subway where I can now fall asleep and miss my stop. They do not cancel all sound but they cancel enough sound that I do not need to blast the music.
I have a pair of the Cowin E7 headphones that I use at work a lot. Even though they have a lot of plastic and feel kinda cheep but sound decent, last a long time and take a beating while I'm wrenching on heavy equipment.

Hey, You guys should do a video on how to setup and run your own inventory based on your own system.
I've had mine for 3+years. I use them daily and have recently purchased AirMod QC25 Bluetooth adapter so now mine are wireless. Still using the original ear cup cushions. I wipe them with a damp cloth at the end of the day. No problems with quality at all
As a private pilot: active noise cancellation is a gift from God himself. Radio communications are easy to hear, my head doesn’t hurt, and my flight headset has an aux jack for listening to music while flying as well.
Hi there! 3 years using my 1 pair of QC25s here. They’ve been durable, dropped many times on concrete (while in the case mind you), traveled across the world in cars, planes, buses, in coffee shops on an almost daily basis since the beginning. They were $300 when I got them and $180 is a steal. They do the job, they’re comfy, sound great, but please oh please make sure you have an extra battery on hand or you will be disappointed. These (imo) only ring true in good audio quality when the noise cancelling is on. That must be a small % of duds because mine have been rock solid and I am convinced that the quiet comforts are worth every penny

Why does everyone claim they sound better with NC on? To me, all it does is add some static, which I don't appreciate at all.
I've my QC35 for two years now, still working really well :)
I had to repair my QC 25 because one of the hinges broke. I managed fixing it by using a small carbon rod and locking it in with some sugru silicone. They are bulletproof now :D

Tired of hearing this line repeated. I've had everything from AKG's more expensive offerings to the Bose QC25s and I honestly couldn't care which of them I was listening on; normal people don't listen to music scrutinising every note for accuracy, they simply listen to the music with whatever they have, passively enjoying it. Also, it can be argued that there isn't an objectively 'better' sound signature. You might say that the more accurate a speaker is the better it is, but for most people they pick a set that sounds good to them. That's what matters!

A friend of mine told me to buy the Sony xm3. I love it. I've also tried the BOSE QC35 II which seems to be a little bit more comfortable

Well, the thing is that that's the point of this entire series. It just serves to rationalise why the hell [this product] is at the top of its category on Amazon. That's pretty much it. The Bose QC25s happen to just be great all around, so just say it's great and move on. There's no debate to be had there, since this isn't a "why should you buy this" but just a "why people are buying this". I'll agree it's very poor that they just accepted as is (even going as far as to say "best in category" when many have said Sony's new offers are a lot better), but it's clear they fulfilled what they wanted to with this video and anything more would've just been extra credit.

I bought the Bose QC 35ii when they were on sale. I've wanted these headphones since the first time I tried the demo version on at the airport. So I started saving money since then. I finally was able to buy them and I'm so happy I got them! For someone who has ADD, I find it extremely difficult to concentrate when I hear sounds around me. Also, because I wear glasses, the Sony headphones hurt my head after a while. I've got no issues with the Bose headphones though! Love them!
You take this into a whole newlevel Linus! Love it!
I bought the QC 35 II's a few months ago and while I don't use them regularly, I love them and the amount of sound eliminating it does from the outside is nothing short of amazing.

The problem with anything "better" than QC25 is that Bose made the battery non-replaceable and pretty tiny and short-lived as a bonus. That's why I won't get anything better than QC25 because I intend to use the headphones for longer than the battery lasts. Plus, the replacement time for the AAA cell is seconds compared to charging time of an integrated battery. And if you use AAA Li-ion cells (1.5V) you don't need to purchase any batteries when you can re-charge your cells instead.

@JCmasters100 lol, looks are deceiving.
first set I got I couldn't use the volume because I noticed it said for Apple even though the salesperson said it would work. Once I exchanged I had no problem with music control on the Android. But yes the cable did go from one to both working after a little use but once I get it to work both sides it stays that way until next usage. I've had mine for 3-4 years and used to wear them 8hrs a day for the first year and had to get replacement foam after the 2nd year. Still worth it to me and won't upgrade to the Bluetooth version until my qc 25 completely breaks/I can get it for $150
I own the Bose QC35 (first gen) headphones. I can safely say that these headphones are my best audio-purchase! I travel a lot with the bus (2 hours to and from school), the noise of the bus is almost completely blocked. If I compare the ambient noise with the earpods from Apple and the QC35, the QC35's completely obliterate the earpods (obviously). But I have to say when you disable the noisecancelling feature, the audio that the headphone produces isn't quite good. It just excells when combined with the noisecancelling feature. I own these headphones for one and a half years now, I still have no problems with it.

you had them for 4 years and are not telling people about their ear cushions falling apart after 1-2 years, even in moderate usage, which bose charges you 35-50$ to replace? I like them, but discount-store quality on 200$+ headphones (i have some that do NOT fall apart, even after 5 years, btw) is a no-go. I would not recommend them to anyone, unless they feel comfy with a "subscription". Heck, Bose even counts them as "wear and tear" parts and don't cover them under warranty, which mine are still in.
Sorry Linus, but your research is a little bit 2016 on this... As of last year, Sony's WH-1000XM2 had caught up with the Bose QC25/35. But while it's not politically correct to say so, the real benefit of noise cancelling on an airplane is not to wipe out the white noise, but to silence other people and their children. In this respect, while Sony doesn't really say it directly, they made a MUCH better "baby cancelling" headset than Bose did. Fast forward to today, and just last week Sony announced an update to their headphones that make them 4x better at cancelling out people, improved the ergonomics, and beefed up the strength of the plastics but did all that while keeping the price the same. I haven't tried the newest version yet, but based on the strength of last years WH-1000XM2, the XM3 will be a must buy for this holiday shopping season. It would be great if you could get a pair of the XM3 and QC35 headphones in for a proper test, including not just airplane and white noise, but cancelling out crying babies and human voices as well. The latter is something that neither Bose or Sony is brave enough to document, so you'd be doing all us business travellers a service if you reported on that! After all, as you're fond of saying, "it would be crazy to preorder something like this without at least seeing a few actual reviews and tests of the device". Here's the link the new XM3 product page: www.sony.com.sg/electronics/headband-headphones/wh-1000xm3

....I don't consider myself as a very smart asian but I think mechanical engineering is one of those majors that you really need to study to even get a C. Failure rate in these class are about 40-50% easily. This is my forth year of college but I'm technically a junior after transferring and have seen my fair share of students get utterly destroyed in these classes. Lastly, when you are stuck in school for 14 hours (like me) with a break of 4 hours between two classes, you might as well study and get shit done
How similar in size are the earcups to the 35s? I know it's a little different but how noticeable is it? I don't want it touching my cartilage
Would be nice to have a comparison regarding the noise canceling with a pair of custom IEMs, like the Ultimate Ears UE-5 let's say.
