Remember the comment from Horner that Daniel has learnt some bad habits while away"? A few sim sessions and he was able to press reset and go back to his traditional driving style, which is why he ended up doing the tyre test and getting the AT seat

Idk why would red bull want someone who wouldn't back down to Max again you know. Cuz let me tell you Daniel never did. The problem with Daniel is that the worst part of his career is McLaren time. This was also the time when the sport triple in world wide fame. However if you go back to his Renault days. Jesus Christ with a motorbike. This guy had some of the craziest cleanest overtakes. He becomes a better driver through momentum. The more stuff going on the better he is. I remember his inside out dummy move against checo in Singapore. Never seen anyone with the balls to overtake in that particular corner with the short yellow wall in the back. He's good. It is only a matter of him forgetting about his stint in McLaren.

Please take a moment to watch this video, and you will be able to discern that Perez's driving skills may not be on par with his competitors. While he may have the advantage of driving the best car on the grid, his ability to gain time on Ricardo is mostly limited to the straight portions of the track, where he can accelerate with full force. However, when it comes to navigating turns and other aspects of the race, Perez seems to be losing considerable ground. @f1newsTR

Ricciardo driving alongside the quickest cars and drivers in a car with that level of disadvantage on the straights shows he is 100 percent back and far from washed up. I really think he just needed to connect with a car/team that allowed him to drive his way. If the honey badger keeps this up that leaves Red Bull with two options for next season. First is just to kick checo out and put Danny next to max. I think their previous quarrels are behind them and they’ll get along. The second is they keep him at alphatauri for the time being and build that team up to be more competitive putting yuki on the hot seat next to Perez

He perhaps could have found the time necessary at least in Qualifying anyways. He did have solid race pace so perhaps he in a better car had a real shot at winning. But it’s only one race. I’m happy we got to see the old Ricciardo back let’s hope he stays competitive. Bear in mind he’s still driving an Alpha Turi. They are often inconsistent with pace. Best to measure him against Yuki for the remainder of the season. I’ll definitely be watching them closely.

Ricciardo has so much more speed through corners. Perez has the MUCH faster car and is still a tenth slower. If you look at the early straights you see how much quicker of a car the red bull is in terms of raw power. As washed as you think Ricciardo is, hes really making the most of the car hes been given and you can see why at the Pirelli tyre test they signed him on the spot. And Hamilton closing in on second in the championship while Verstappen can literally split his points in half and still come first AND SECOND, Perez REALLY is giving red bull every excuse to drop him like McLaren dropped Ricciardo. Is there anyone who doesnt believe he has the potential to be on pole if he was in a red bull?

It’s really not about brakes, it’s about when he gets on the gas and how he actually takes the corners, just look at the data

I notice Perez almost never takes the shortest line to the finish on a qually lap. It's the same with Interagos. Everyone is taking the shortest line, yet he takes the wide line as if he was in the middle of a race. That extra distance may be worth a few hundredths.

i wonder how Daniels driving style would fit on the Redbull?

It just looks like the Redbull is running less aero, so its slower in the corners and faster in a straight line.

Checo coasted before the 1st corner, then he's braking really early.

Ricci prefers cars that have oversteer like Alpha Tauri & Red Bull. McLaren had understeer & that’s why he struggled. And of course gaining under braking. Can’t say I’m surprised. I hope he’ll replace Perez.

DR was only a tenth of Verstappen. Perez was only 2 tenths off Verstappen. Jack Doohan seems to think the difference between Max and Checo is 3 tenths. So...a better title should've been, why was Verstappen so slow?
