I am from railways. Main reasons for losses is Corruption,poor management,poor technical updation,slow speed, inadequate officer's,not properly utilisation of resources etc
Corruption is the major contributor to loss. Government should keep special and strict surveillance over income sources of every employee and kick out the black sheeps.
Passenger Sector Maybe In Loss.......But Not Frieight Section---------thats why DFC, Gati Shakti Box Developing!!!

Indian Railways must have to concentrate on Ticket Checkers(TC)they are totally curopted.Ministry will not observing their corruption.They are the liability of Indian Railways.
Since 90% of China population resides in 18% of its total land area, which makes railway cost effective to them. On the other side India population is homogeneously spread over the indian sub-continent. It is not fair to compare India and China in every sector. On has to keep in mind geographical factors, political structure and money constraints and history which play a significant role in the development of a country. Btw love the content. अंग्रेजों का दिया सिस्टम देश मे अगर कुछ हूबहू है तो वो है इंडियन रेलवे की ऑफिसर्स लॉबी। जैक, रिश्वत और तुष्टिकरण का अड्डा है इंडियन रेलवे का प्रशासनिक ढाँचा। जब तक इंडियन रेलवे की ऑफिसर्स लॉबी में आमूल चूल बदलाव नहीं होगा, सरकार कुछ भी कर ले रेलवे घाटे मे ही रहेगी।
The best option is to add more freight corridors,, Freight operation is the largest source of Income for railways
loss in railway because of it's management. they don't know how to get the job done by manpower. they just sitting idle and as they have job security. in same place and same infrastructure a private sector will find profit. you can find the difference between one privatized station and railway own station.

TEJAS able to earn profit BECAUSE, 1. Gets special PRIORITY and TREATMENT over other trains 2. Only operates in high passenger traffic route
If nation go in loss why don't they privatise the government. If they do wrong they wiil be punished instantly like private way.
Indian Railways is like East India Company where Officials are becoming rich day by day and Railways incurring losses Once you go through the railway organisation you will realise it

Phle Losses dikhao fir bech do taki koi awaj na uthaye. Tejas jaisi facility Satabadi aur Gatiman me bhi h pr gov. hi private trains ko priority de rhi h.
Tejas express in last 2 years has incurred a loss of 3 crore and that is why it has reduced its operating days. Meanwhile it has highly expensive fare, The fare of lucknow swaran shatabdi which takes the time of 6 hr 40 minutes to travel from ndls to lucknow with a fare of Rs 1100 ,tejas take 6 hour 25 minute just 15 minute less with a fare of RS 1950, Well both support dynamic pricing. Indian government just should not always look towards losses and cry. The only solution is PPP model and not just privatisation or disinvestment.

I think even 10 rupees increase in ticket price then it will be game changer.
Before Corona in locan train for 144km the ticket price was 35/- now it's 65/- 😑

thats what we want to improve our railways
1- There should be separate track for Freight movement & Passenger movement. 2- Yard of Major junction/stations should be modified so that maximum Nos of Trains can be admitted. 3- Unnecessary use of Electricity. 4- All Locomotives should be fitted with KAVACH .( Anti collision & Automatic train protection ) to avoid train collision in some %. 5- Daily Surveillance of Section to find out abnormalities. 6-Formation of Special vigilance commission for Indian railways.

According to me railways loss is due to sleeping railways employees zero productivity and also no strict laws for damage to railway property
You haven’t covered wages or salary. Compared to private companies salaries are much higher. You may find CTC of MTS and Group C staff higher than what is paid to same level staff by private airlines. 2. All welfare should be done by welfare department or ministry and not railways. Like discount to students: MHRD should bear 3. Corruption and theft. 4. Under utilised property. 5. Over centralisation. 6. Trains run as per only political desire.

indian railways also use unique railway guage i.e broad guage which is unique while the rest of the world use standard guage which can cause problems in rolling stock purchases

As I know train speed bacame faster comparatively eirlier. Recently I have experienced 140/h speed of duranto, aftr corona services has much improved.
Every thing is not about income...it is only source for poor nd middle class...whole country can't b privatized
Privatisation is like consuming Sugar in excess everyday. One day it will become a Diabetes. In the year 2022, Arunachal Govt shut down more than 300 Govt Schools and Assam more than 400 Govt schools due to poor education system and unavailability of students, shifting of people towards Private Schools. But today Private Schools are so expensive that it is unaffordable. Admission fees for Class 1 starts from 80k. Just like Kejriwal Sarkar, focus should be on making the Govt run departments more efficient and effective rather than privatisation. Privatisation doesn't always give a fair Competition among the private players. Due to central Govt run BJP'S constant support to Jio to offer free calls, data more than the duration we see that other telecom operators are dead or running in loss. Today only Jio and Airtel are playing. But the recharge rates is very expensive. Jio offers only 20 days for Rs.149 (1GB/day). Airtel offers 24 days for Rs. 155 (1 GB/DAy). In the age of digital world, 1GB per day is not enough. Poor vendors and people won't be able to afford. Also, the single network is not available in all the locations. You are forced to recharge two sims if you are working 5-6 km away from your home.

There's no freight trains importance We need bullet trains and semi and high speed rails for passengers . Normal trains should be used in freight .

Tejas Max Speed 130kmph Uses IR engine/power IR facilities like track , station, operation,maintainance,TC,Loco Pilots,guard. Only coaches are private. Which direct bought from IR supplier factories. Management like catering services inside train is operated by private i.e. IRCTC. So only coaches are privately bought by irctc everything else is completely goverment facilities. IR can operate this privete train already but the Credit goes to private player.
Tickets available toh reheti nahi hai kabhi hameshaa tatkal quota use karna padta hai agar 3-5 din phle ticket book krna ho. It's the mismanagement
