If the empire lasted longer, I’d imagine chemical and biological weapons would be more and more utilized. For the same reason as the Death Star. If you can destroy your enemy completely, in a way that prevents any serious resistance from being mounted, it doesn’t matter how many planets rebel. Turn a few of those planets to cracked rocks or chemically blasted wastelands, and resistance boils away rapidly.

The thing is that bioweapons are very hard to control. And the colateral damage would mostly hurt the Empire. If civilians were to be infected, that would create a lot of civil unrest. Add the fact that they would now carry the pathogen around the galaxy. Now you have to have quarantines, create new protocols, people would get sick and die... The risk for great economic damage is significant.

It's not only that, but think about your other videos. The Star Wars galaxy needs the backing of its people in order for the Republic, the CIS, the Rebellion, or the Empire to do things. If the people of the galaxy found out the Empire was using bio-weapons on a massive scale, the people will end up turning their back to them.

@@petarbulog199 yeah, the canon mobile game Star Wars commander has a whole mission series around it. Plus its canon that the Empire specifically named the elite Death Troopers after the monsters of Project Blackwing in order to scare the rebels.

Alpha Red also caused some distress with the New Jedi Order, both from an ethics standpoint and the fear that this weapon could potentially mutate and jump to different species, despite it being designed to only target Vong and Vong tech.

@@thorpeaaron1110 you really want to begin this argument again? Alderaan was anything but peaceful, they simply wanted to act like they were. Few if any worlds were evacuated so the empire could mine their resources, and even then there was always a cause to it. Yes the super weapon was expensive but the galaxy was still prospering under the empires banner. If you’re gonna insist on playing out this fight again at least try harder than last time

@@duescaymania2940 Alderaan was peaceful and was the intellectual center of the galaxy and it had nothing to do with the Rebellion the galaxy didn't prosper if anything poverty increased during the Empire's 20 year reign also I like how you neglect that fact about desertions in the Imperial military to the Rebel Alliance

Putting aside the moral implications for a moment, there's a practical problem inherent with using chemical weapons in a setting like Star Wars, and it's the fact that environment suits are absolutely everywhere. Stormtroopers, Clone troopers, Mandalorians, and innumerable spacers wear sealed suits with limited oxygen supply on a daily basis, at bare minimum they'd have oxygen close at hand for emergencies which saves them from anything that kills purely through respiration. Starships can just vent affected areas if something is released onboard without spacing the crew after a little preparation. And it if it becomes a concern on the battlefield, the stormtroopers are already equipped for that, I doubt even poorly funded rebels would find it difficult to source stolen or even legally purchased protection.

All I can say is up until the first Death Star this could be correct, after the loss of the first Death Star I highly doubt the Empire would give two S about using anything to crush the rebels that just pulled something similar 9/11.

Star Wars Rethink: the galaxy learns of the clones' brain control chip during the Clone Wars (maybe early on, maybe a year into the war, or maybe due to Fives).

A bit late but one thing to think about is that bio-weapons don't respect boundaries like wealth, class, education, or political affiliation. Thus the use of such weapons risks undermining or destroying one's own allies as much as one's enemies. Palpatine was not a fan of such randomness; he was a control freak. He wanted control over everything.

I believe the Empire know the problems and the weapons that could be turn against them. One for Empire

Unnecessary evil and cruelty is bad PR. Even bad people have a limit on how bad they can tolerate. Baddies don't want more problems and messes they have to clean up.

2:37 well I mean In legends the Empire created a virus on Corascant when the New Republic took it and while reading those parts of the books I was under the impression it really didn't take more then a few months Edit: yes it only killed alians but that would be even harder to creat then anything

Short version: Chemical warfare is fucked and even Sheev can understand why that would be morally reprehensible.

Bio weapons and chemical weapons are two different fields did you mean why the empire didn't use bio weapons more???

You also got to remember that the rebels wouldn't even need to be able to make these sorts of weapons themselves. All they would have to do is break into a lab or chemical plant or something and find a radical who would make them use the highjacked equipment and be gone before the authorities showed up. A plan like this could be done in as little as a few hours id imagine in the star wars universe given how far there science has gone. So in truth if the rebels stole a weapon like this making more would be as easy as breaking into one of the millions of labs or plans in the galaxy and using the equipment. And all a plan like this would require is a team willing to do it and at least one person to make it. So no wonder the imperials feared this stuff so much case it would be a hundred times more dangerous there then on earth with how spread out everything is and easy the tech would be to mass produce something that already exists.

They used it actually. Read Battlefront Twilight Company. They used a planet that could feed trillions to develop bioweapons.
