Ridiculous amount of money. The irony is that you most likely would have paid all that money and spent 4 years at Tufts while hearing absolutely nothing about how chewing, oral posture and oral habits factor in for a growing persons jaw and craniofacial development. Glad to hear that you still are becoming a dentist/orthodontist. Society will need a lot of doctors like you.

You are absolutely right. And this is one reason why as much as I am drawn to dental school, I am also repelled away from it, like to north poles of a magnet. It would really suck to have to unlearn this stuff for four years. While simultaneously going into exorbitant amounts of debt.

You're absolutely correct and on the money with everything. Some people unfortunately can't risk applying again because their stats aren't the greatest. Some people can't apply again because of the cost. Some people can't apply again because of having taken the dat the maximum amount of times. Also, it's always risky reapplying to schools especially if you apply to the same ones again as a safety net. I'm also natively from Texas, but I was competing for 300 seats among 3000+ applicants. I did also get in out of state when I was 25. I decided to do it because of some of the aforementioned reasons. I wish you the best of luck, I try my best to guide students into dental school. If you need anything or want advice please let me know. And I pray you get into the dental school of your dreams that is best for you. Thanks again for making this very important video!

@@christan5777 I simply don't like the job itself . Obviously it's very technical and the money isn't nearly enough compared to effort and hard work you put into it. Plus most patients are unappreciative or scared of dentist which is a bothersome. On the other-hand I have colleagues who like the profession and are considering residency programs, this is just my personal experience and feelings toward dentistry.

If u went to Tuft you would realistically have 450-500k debt and one year headstart in dental school instead of waiting for the next cycle. Plus if u become a dental surgeon u can easily make 250-350k per year. So roughly $18k with taxes so pay $5k a month on loans and $13k on whatever u would want.

Really unfortunate, the big debts that dental students face stifle progress, why go against the grain when you have the possibility of losing your license and be left with a huge debt? It's understandable why people in the medical and dental field are so dogmatic in their views, they've gone into enormous amounts of debt only for them to be possibly wrong. It's a means to an end, don't let schooling suck out your passion and interfere with your education. Best of luck to you.
