current schools are a relic of the past, outdated teaching methods that only worked pre internet era where they needed a place to study and teach books, the school system needs to be completely modernized.

self motivation is vital for anyone fearless enough to venture into the joy of autonomy that comes with being self employed, where most people do not get to even know how autonomy feels....i recall working one time in a high level stressful management job, and i developed allergies that resulted from the stress i was under...yep, true story....but ya, you do have to cultivate and explore what motivates you and follow that in whatever direction you wish to go....without anyone EVER telling you what to do, although some will try as they may to box you in when it comes to the fellow business requests that come along the path of self employment, but more and more you find out where your threshold is for your tolerance of others who like to micro manage. Autonomy is the true measure of success....that lends to highly positive mental emotional physical sexual and spiritual well being....better than any book you will ever read actually.

I left school when I was 15 and consider not leaving school earlier to be one of the biggest regrets in my life. It was complete waste of time, not learning anything important but only having bad experiences. I love learning, but school isn’t right place for learning but actually detrimental. Better find your own learning method that fits you the best and stick to it.

why dont you take online courses if you hate the classroom enviroment

My major involves maths and computer science courses, I remember I had this one terrible CS teacher. I was taking a course called principles of computer science II, the teacher who taught the course refused to show us any coding, and he also refused to trace code. He actually got annoyed when someone asked him to use an IDE named eclipse just to show the output of a code. Not only that his handwriting was chicken scratch. In the end, I had to self teach myself switches,hexadecimal notation,inheritance, and polymorphism. If one goes to college, one should major in a skill that is lucrative. People who major in film,sociology,philosophy, realize that they do not have a skill to contribute to society after they graduate .They then end up with a 200,000 dollar debt with a 30,000 dollar job. If you are going to get student loans make sure you have a degree that is profitable. In my opinion going to a trade /technical school is a much better alternative since you are actually learning skills that can be applied immediately after you graduate. A four year degree can be beneficial if it like computer science where there is a huge demand for that career and not enough people to fulfill it.

Daniel, you should translate a japanese web novel. If you go to /r/noveltranslations, you will see there are tonnes of chinese/korean/japanese web novels being translated, and they get ~$50/ chapter in donations. and have patreons on top of that.

Some of the school experience is about rounding out your view of the world... humanities, sciences, interactions with people of different backgrounds and ideologies. It isn't ALL just about a forced curriculum, but that's how you ensure that everyone gets the same education.

personally i love school and if i had the money would likely be enrolled in psychology or science....and who knows, maybe one day i will return....but some of the education is more of a fast track learning of everything one can learn on the job, where education i suppose is more of a leaping over others in line for job promotion at some of the corporations out there, although more and more these companies are offering internal job training for anyone who signs up for it...as for self employed, i do believe autonomy is one of the most valuable issues personally for my own well being, well being gay i suppose puts a target on my back, much like any minority race feels like i do, like Daniel certainly has growing up in Great Britain...a life time of toxic environments him and his sister and mom know full well.... He seems to have high self-motivation and without any substance abuse issues to derail his attention and life away, and i suppose that is why i support him like i do, as one who has already realized fully how great autonomy feels from being self employed....its the only way for me personally, could never go backwards now. I say find your passion, no matter what it is, including any interest in school, and follow your passion and sense of purpose in life, giving your whole heart and soul to it, where the objective should always be happiness of the journey, not a destination.

You are correct, going to school doesn't necessarily guarantee you success. I mean just look at Eurasian Tiger, he "went to Harvard" and wound up becoming a loser expat in china making sad rant videos on youtube.

its a simple fact that art requires time to complete as well as a fresh mind and body....where coming home from a full time job every day, leaves one exhausted and without much time at all to do art work...honestly, i believe it is the artists who are so passionately driven to be in the creative process as much as possible, who inevitably become successful, leaving the wannabe part timers behind....well, i have no idea which direction his creative process will take Daniel, but it is obvious he is already highly self motivated....

I have been terrorized in school and outside of it, I can relate to your view on that. For the schools vs. internet, yeah you are right. Not everyone learns on their own speed in the same way or wishes to learn he same things. If you are truly a smart person you will go out there and try to learn what you wish to learn. If you are not, you get stuck doing the same thing everyone else is doing coming hardly any further if at all. I learned English in my own way, first by watching TV which mostly was American TV shows from the 80's. In the Netherlands you have subtitles instead of dubbed junk. Later I got the internet as source added, which was rather new back then and rare to have. I learned then by using forums, chat rooms, etc. Even trying out German a bit. It lead me to big game companies eventually where I actually did a insane amount of time trying to improve their shit and actually getting bugs fixed that they never figured out where to even look. I managed to do all kinds of wonderful things all because I dared to look beyond what people wished to see. I been called stupid for doing something that was not normal back then. Yet the same idiots who called me that see the value of the internet now and see I was right all along. People are quick to judge because they can not see beyond their own ideals and their own comfort zones. Which makes them rather dumb idiots instead of smart people.

I have the same opinion on schooling, luckily I'm going to a community college so I didn't go into student loan debt before I realized many of the same things as you. I enjoy self study and letting my interests lead the way. So it is not necessarily school which leads to success but ones own discipline.

That's pretty much sums up how i felt with computer science at this university I went to for a semester. The professor barely really explained how anything really worked with C++. He was out for like a month for a religious holiday and mostly just talked about his vacation in other countries instead of teaching class.

I also was bullied for years. No teacher I asked for help helped me. In my last years in school I had a really cool class and I was really satisfied with my classmates. But the teachers... I was the oldest one in the class and the teachers thought they could do everything with the students, bully them, all this kinda stuff. It was so horrible. I don't have my high school degree in the end. I quit school.

It is tough for the target and school staff to tell if it's just hazing/testing the waters, but at some point it's just bs. Once I was trying to read a book in the cafeteria, but two boys kept putting my things in the trash as a dean just watched. One of the people that I sat with told a member of staff about it who proceeded to tell me that I was a coward who should stick up for myself. ~3~

I think you shouldn't get an education to learn something (it will happen as a by product though). It's a status symbol that many people appreciate (future employers/partners/friends). It shows that you were willing to put yourself through years of work for small gains; it shows you are dedicated and determined to do... something. It doesn't necessarily mean you end up in that profession that you studied. Going to a very specific school can make that even more of status symbol. You may not care about that, but many people around you will. You are correct that you can learn almost anything online by yourself if you so choose, but a self-taught person should expect to be self-employed and not work for anyone else directly. You must be able to sell what you make, whatever that something you make is. You do know that this path is viable, but it requires you to also have very good social skills. Do you have what it takes? Also taking courses can accelerate your learning, and getting used to being around people really is a useful skill. I think you should study at least something, and by study, I mean getting a degree. There are schools (higher level) that are 100% online these days (speaking from experience). Also, this kind of studying (online) would allow you to study and do what you are currently doing at the same time. It's not a huge time commitment because you don't need to leave your house to take part in lectures or what have you. We have very similar backgrounds. I hate school for similar reasons as you do. Online schools were the way forward. I get a degree, and I do it at my own pace.

Have you ever considered trying Kenjutsu? It can be a life changing thing, and is something that can be partly effective learning on your own. Its a helluva lot of fun too. ^,^

I went to art school online for a few semesters part time. I really loved studying online and I did a lot better than when I studied business. But I'm not sure what I could actually do with those courses. i'm a much better photographer and know a lot of about photoshop. Photoshop is a skill that you can use to get a job. But could I have just bought the books and watched the dvds? yep.

Agree if you're not aiming to getting a job or going into a field that requires a degree or professors' recommendations then there's little point in attending formal classes, especially given the plethora of online lectures and lecture notes floating around.

Sometimes a certification in a tool/trade can help with the job hunt. It's a gamble and maybe "unnecessary" - but the world can more often than not be a shallow place that will shut you out if you don't have enough bullet points on your resume. I can relate though to your issues with Computer Science. I was a Biology major in college, but currently work in software development as a QA Engineer (basically, a tester - not a coder or architect). I could make more slightly more money as a Software/Network Engineer or Web Developer - but I hate coding and do not find it fun or interesting to do full time. It's often high pressure, and requires a certain mindset I quite frankly do not have. However, I do like using and trying to break software, and in that sense I feel it's a much better niche job for someone who is passionate about computers/games/software but just isn't interesting in making them. It's like when you play a game like "Little Big Planet" where the goal is basically to make your own game...not everyone is into 'making' stuff. That type of game does not really appeal to me. Some of us just like to play/break game, and we're cool with that.

I am about to do physics for my bachelor degree. Guys do you think I am wasting my time? I don’t care to make a lot of money (more than I need) and I actually I am not thinking to get a job in physics field. Only teaching if I decide to. But I mean I am interested in my major. So, what are you opinions?

You're asking strangers wheather you're wasting your time. You probably don't know what you want out of life. Continue the path you're on until you get a better idea of whatever your long term goal should be. And most importantly, learn to not be afraid of failure. Failure is good, you learn from it.

for lazy film students who are too lazy to study on their own, lacking any passion really to barely even graduate from a four year film school program, they do need the university to discipline themsevles...expensive babysitting really....or, if you do know your passion you can decide to pay $50k in tuition on film equipment instead....which will buy you some serious studio level cameras and lenses for sure....

But since today's world wants us to operate like machines they tell you to figure out everything by the time you reach puberty. Good luck at your studies.

For me the key advantage to going to school vs self-teaching, other than the fact you'd have a formal qualification that employers would actually recognise, is that it teaches you discipline. School courses give you a clear roadmap of what you'll learn, force you to learn at a set pace and thanks to that you're able to learn much more efficiently. Particularly if you're someone who lacks self-discipline and motivation (as seems to be the case for you), school is great for giving you a kick up the arse and getting you to actually be productive. You can't say "Oh I'll do this another time," when your assignment is due in a few days. Struggle is just a fact of life, and is necessary for accomplishment and success. Take the millionaires you mentioned who didn't go to school, do you really think they got to where they are today by limiting themselves strictly to doing just what they found easy and enjoyable? No, they worked for it and endured the difficulties.

Just bear in mind that life is fluid and interests change over time because they are intricately tied with one's state of existentialism. I'm in my 30s and I will be starting medical school in September. Things change man, so keep an open mind :)

You need a sugar momma. You say you like older women but I get the impression the older women you date are looking for a guy to help pay for them or be a father to their kid. What you need is a women who already has money, no kids, or older kids, and is just looking for a young guy simply for the fun of it. That way you can do your channel, commissions, and patron.

co-dependence relationships do not work....and any happiness felt or expressed is usually shallow or fake...without genuine authentic excitement we feel for someone, being involved or staying involved for all the wrong reasons....is a form of self oppression that causes our true personality to submerge below whatever falsehood masks we create....survivable yes....but not happy, and eventually ends because it never should of started in the first place....live and learn like many do, or learn from other people's mistakes who take time to offer good advice for what not to do with your life. Life is too long to be miserable. Although i did date a cougar once who are friggin amazing in bed.... :/

Awesomeness bravoness school is a baby sitting place for those without passion or self motivation sense of direction wannabe follow the crowd.... Where most of what you learn in a 4 year program is obsolete by the time you graduate....a scam that truly is a self serving business that barely even keeps up to date....that really leaves you feeling dumb downed after you get stuck repaying huge student loans....and to think i fell for it twice :/ Well i suppose it is a fun place for middle class kids to afford to play, and good discipline for those who have little....but the costs are absurd. The entire world is not even online yet, with integration ways not even thought of yet...the entire world is shifting to online entertainment, socializing, and education....and those who are in development today will become the super stars of tomorrow within ten years, but only for those who stay plugged in with a strong sense of knowing where they will easily arrive in the future, a keen sense of how others maintain....so good luck Daniel...i truly believe you know exactly where u are going...and hope we are still friends ten years from now....laughing and looking back and saying wow....we did it....we fucking did it. I need the classroom environment, far too many distractions at home. I study part time though as an adult student (31), 2 days a week about 3 hours per day, easy. Adult education is nothing like teaching kids, as a mature student you come and go as you please, if you need to skip a class, just do it, running late? no big deal, you're expected to catch up at your own leisure if you want to pass. I had a new tutor, looks like he probably only finished education himself, early 20s. He decided he was going to do what your tutor did to you, we simply explained to him that we are adults that are paying to be there and in return, paying his wages, he didn't try it again. I thought i was too old but there are actual grandmothers in my class, i have social anxiety and we all get along great.

for those who actually follow Daniel....he resigned from his job to pursue his business adventures that will actually see him thrive more over time than any company ever will, and besides, being a professional artist is far greater enjoyment than any job could even remotely come close to being enjoyable....albeit there will be creative ventures that will come across his path that will seek his collaboration with, that he can work with or turn down at his discretion....and what the hell is wrong with living in the country side mansion Daniel lives in with his parents? In Italy it is a cultural tradition that kids live at home until the day they marry....and how pessimistic to think that Daniel will ALWAYS live with his parents....what is wrong with you people, my God, nothing positive to say? And besides, Daniel already has an income....ya sure, maybe not the 35k starting salary, but maybe he will be happier and far far wealthier in terms of mental health and financial as well, if he explores his passion and follows it where ever it leads him....like Bill Gates did, like so many drop outs did and do...

You can learn anything online but you need to learn how apply practical knowledge in real life. Sadly the world does not wait for you.

But there's loads of hot Asian girls at university. Both foreign and UK born and raised. All ethnicities. Japanese, Chinese, Tibetan, Siberian, you name it. It's like Pokemon. Instead of catch em all it's fuck em all.

But going to school and getting education is what we live for. We live for getting money. Thats how we live so getting an degree would not ne bad
