It wasn't that long ago that I was making a video about 'How often should I wash my hair?'. But since then...things have changed! In this video I take you through how often you should really wash your hair! Product build-up and my top 5 reasons you should wash your hair everyday.
Remember, everyones hair is different. Like our skin, our scalps and hair are so different and not one single way of caring for it fits all! You know your hair and only you know how often it needs shampooing.
How often should i wash my hair? How often should I wash my natural hair. Hair washing routine. Hair wash day. Hair washing hacks. Hair washing routine for natural hair. Damaged Hair

Hey I wash my hair everyday too. There's nothing wrong with it. It won't cause hair loss. The greasiness and product build-up is worse for your hair.

Mr乡Frost It might be bad to use dry shampoo daily too
I have oily hair/scalp and honestly my hair is so much healthier when I shampoo (sulfate-free) every day. A clarifying shampoo every week or two to remove oil and product buildup is a total game changer for oily hair that seems to never like lighter or natural shampoo. My hair actually barely grew at all when I tried to skip days (multiple tries with multiple different shampoos) and grew quick as heck when I washed every day so... 🤷♀️
Squirtle relaxing in the background
*squirtle staring into your soul*
I started washing my hair every day and my hair looks healthier and is growing so much
I tried to “train” my hair for like 4 months, not washing my hair everyday. I washed my hair once every 3 days, and it SUCKED. Like my hair was extremely oily (bc i have oily skin, which means oily scalp). It never really got better, and I just felt, dirty. I use a pretty gentle shampoo (sulfate-free color shampoo, and i am not rough with it) as well as use a very moisturizing conditioner. I do this everyday as well as using leave-in conditioner and heat protectant. My hair feels great everyday, and I feel great.

Yeah i did the same 2 years ago, tried to "train my scalp" like everybody said and it didnt change anything. I have very oily skin and scalp. Now i am.washing it every other day but the second day its already oily and.i need dryshampoo, which always feels bad on my scalp, and i dont like the smell. I think i'm gonna try washing it everyday, like you do. I bet thats way healthier than clogging my scalp up with powders and dry shampoo...

JadedSkies what conditioner and shampoo you use ?
I wash my hair everyday simply because I like to, it’s kind of like a way I relax haha I use very gentle shampoos though or sometimes I just rinse with water but I can’t stand not at least wetting it

Same. Its really satisfying to feel the water going through your scalp 😆
My hair is beautiful, soft as silk everyone says it. I wash it everyday when I shower in the morning. I use really good shampoo tho, sulfate free.

Tanya ogx is really good! Sulfate and sodium free makes my hair silky I wash everyday
I wash my hair everyday, no damage but it cost me my thin hair, IT BECAME A FREAKING LION MANE! It’s super soft and really good to the feeling! It’s not dry nor frizzy! My mom washed it since i was very young. No hairspray needed or conditioner. Palmolive shampoo might help for you guys! It worked for me. Just use any shampoo suitable for your hair, If you use products try stopping it for a while and see the results. Hope this helps (y’all have to avoid shampoos with sulfate and silicone cause it’s gonna dry your scalp and delay hair growth, if possible once a month use a keratin with soft effect [idk what to call it] based conditioner to help hair growth)
I wash my hair everyday because it gets super duper oily ~_~

katta salmiakki Disagree. She probably uses too much conditioner. I have 2 feet long of hair and it’s thick. When I tend to over-due the conditioner it feels greasy. If you take care of it with the proper amount of shampoo, type of shampoo, and what products you put in it, it’ll feel nice and shiney!

katta salmiakki well, maybe it’s just my genetics but I was just raised around family with long hair. They taught me how to take care of it and never knew about not washing your hair or getting oily. But thanks for letting me know.

katta salmiakki I disagree too. I used to put conditioner and my scalp get oily and clogged. I used head and shoulder everyday and my scalp and hair are healthy.
sulfate is not bad for OILY scalps guys! Sulfate free is only good for people who have dryer scalps. If you are balding or losing hair, best to stick to sulfate while washing daily. You want to get RID of sebum.

Jennifer Aniston who has the most beautiful, healthy thick hair washes her hair everyday🤷🏻♀️ also this is an advice for all the girls please stop using DRY SHAMPOOS, it causes hair loss over time !
I wash my hair everyday. My face is oily so my scalp is oily too. Plus I live in Israel so I always sweat since its always hot here . My hair is fine and if i dont wash iy everyday it gets all oily and smells like sweat which is awful

Try Head and shoulders lemon, I used it when my hair was very greasy.
You have a Squirtle on your bed! He’s my favorite 😍 I loved the way you said that we wash our face everyday. So we should wash our hair everyday as long as the products are good. Thank you for that
I conditioner daily but shampoo every 3 days or so. My conditioner seems to strip most of the product out. Just use a clarifying shampoo when you do clean. I've also moved to washing my face less often and it's been much healthier.
My hair gets very dry when I shampoo everyday so 2-3 times a week is good for me
I wash my hair daily because I have naturally blonde and straight hair that goes slick, flat, and body less if it’s not washed. Some times it’ll even get darker from excess oil. I’d much rather not have the wet hair look and just do a few deep conditioning treatments in between
I have to wash my hair everyday because it's oily lol. and condition the ends everyday so it's not frizzy
Hey James I really love the way you explain . I really needed this.
I wash my hair with shampoo every day now for about a year..and nothing happened !

You need good oil and shampoo
When I don’t wash my hair everyday i feel so unclean. I just can’t wash my hair every 3-7 days like the girls in my country. They have thick coarser hair and I inherited my Russian mum’s fine and thin hair, and it becomes really limp and dark after two days.
What a great video! Thank you James :D
This was a nice video:) BTW can you review the pete and pedro product please ??
I have a question James. I often get tiny pimples under the skin on my forehead. When I squeeze a line of hard puss comes like black heads on my nose. Any advice to prevent this? Thanks
Generally, can sulphate-free shampoo be a great choice to remove hair wax, clay, and hairspray? Especially Gatsby (the brand that works best for me currently).
This is why we need scientific studies for hair care.
hello I would like to know what can you say on "Crown Hair Tonic". i saw it in the internet but I cannot find any reviews in youtube.
5:02 this is what I wanted to know. I literally watched over 50 random videos about hair washe n no one told me this..thank u 4 that
If your scalp is oily I would look into the cause which could be consuming greasy/fried food cooking with too much oil etc I think a sulfate free shampoo is necessary to wash your hair if you are doing it daily but imo hair should be washed no more than twice a week a warm water wash using your fingers to scrub your scalp it is enough to remove sweat if you workout daily.
I have to wash my hair much less because of dandruff and overall sebum buildup I get from washing it too much. I have an oily scalp too, but I hear that washing it more makes your scalp create more oil to compensate. Don't know if it's true.
I knew it. Thanks james
James, as you said everyone's hair is different. I have thin hair but I have a lot of it.. I have always used cheap products. I have always colored my hair, I have permed my hair. I shampooed my hair everyday and I don't know if you can see but I have very healthy hair. I guess in the hair department, I'm extremely lucky.
Which is the best shampoo for thin hair im from india it would be very helpful if you suggest me one
I noticed my hair grows faster with washing everyday. I recently heard that washing daily breaks down protein in the hair staft Is this true?

Irrelevant To This Vid But After I Shave My Neck It Tends To Be Red And Abit Itchy Is There Anything I Can Use For This Problem
When you talk about not washing your hair every day, do you mean not using shampoo or directly not getting it wet during the shower? I'm growing my hair long and I want to take care of it, I usually wash it only with water 3 times a week and once with shampoo.
I have dry scalp but if I wash twice a week I'm prone to psoriasis. I've gone back to every day.

Hey James if u use a water based hair product everyday do u still need to shampoo ur hair everyday
Hey Great Video 😀...How about using a dry shampoo every two days and washing hair with shmpoo every third day....by the was i also have oily scalp....so what would be ur suggestion???....That Squirtle though...😂😎
can u please suggest argon oil brand for hair massaging.
oooh I love your bedding!!! where is it from?
James dose this ply to conditioner as well?
have you tried clarifying shampoos..?
Is head and shoulder okay as shampoo and conditioner please? thanks love your vids 😂
Love ya james ❤️
Interesting video James! It makes a lot of sense as it's often a struggle to completely wash out hair products. But the issue is, I seem to have quite dry hair and shampooing it seems to dehydrate it (even sulphate free). But at the same time, so is product build up, and I seem to suffer from frizz no matter what. Would you suggest hair masks of some description?

Ps. I've also been using Argan oil as basically a leave in conditioner. It seems to help to a reasonable extent
I wash my hair every other day or every 3 days in the winter but in the summer my scalp produces more oil and with my lifestyle of swimming and being active, I need to shower every day, at most every other day. If I don't, my hair looks super caked and disgusting.
Washing my hair daily was prescribed by my derm. I get dandruff if I don’t. My hair grows much faster now and my derm said the buildup from my oils clogged my follicles and prevented growth.
Shampoo for curly hairs which are available in India?
I love ur videos so much ur just so perfect
I have oily scalp and every other day has worked best for me. Every day wasn’t bad either.
I play drums everyday and sweats everyday because its hot here in indonesia even when its rainy season cause i keep wearing my hoodie everytime im out of school at 2pm/3pm and thats what make me sweat basically i just wear the hoodie to protect my arm skin from the burning of the sun
fantastic video 👏👏👏👏
People just need to do you like whatever works for you whatever works for you Don’t judge someone because they wash there hair more or less if there hair care routine works and there fine then leave them TF ALONE!
But how did they get the buildup out? My daughter has a very similar build up, looks worse when wet, but I can’t seem to get it out!

Does this apply to women as well?

I think you should get a hair tonic. They're great.
Rinse everyday then condition ever day shampoo couple times week.If your using water cased products should wash out very easy every day.

What if you have to wear a helmet for hours every day? Does that effect the amount of oils in your hair? Like, do you produce more oils when you wear a helmet? Thanks a lot for the info! Keep up the good work!
I knew That washing your hair was harmless, because if you wash your body & brush your teeth daily... Then why not your hair daily. It's the same Routine.

It just preference really. I wash my hair every 3 days because Im super dry. Of course shower every day. It also depends on products. I use oil on the end and scalp every night but it doesn’t build up because it’s oil. I also live in a cold climate. But like skin care it’s just preference
I wash my hair every other day but I wet it every day in the shower. I don't think it's that complicated lol

Quick tip: Give sulfate free shampoos a try. They might be more expensive but I've got fairly long hair at this point and I had no idea how rough and how damaging sulfates actually are until I tried the alternative. You can find some sulfate free shampoos for as low as 5 pounds at Boots
