Why I Use 10 Year Old Cameras

Hey everyone! Welcome to all my new subscribers! I decided to try something different and do my first video talking to the camera, so go easy. Kinda weird but kinda fun, maybe I'll do more.

at this point, You don't even neeed to have 4k from body. Almost every video editing software have great upscaler. So casual viewer wont see any diffrence. Biggest problem with old cams is workflow. You have to do much work after record, so You have less time for family.

My first BMPCC is 10 years old. The sensor glass started to get foggy, so I sent it to Blackmagic UK for a repair job. Now it's as good as new and I bought a second one. The BMPCC has something magical to it. It's quirky, limited and flawed, but it has personality. It produces images that look like from a dream world.

Hi Chris. The ‘talking head’ really works for you and gets easier with time. You come across as really genuine with a passion to share. You obviously know what you’re talking about. I’m an OG owner as well and just like a musician, it’s how your instrument makes you feel. More please and best of luck at the festivals. Ed

I love videos like this! Also, I so wanna get one of those small black magic cameras. I always thought a black magic camera would be out of my price range, so this is awesome!

Good stuff Chris. Love the chill talk about old gear. Bmpcc OG is by far my most favorite camera of all time. 👊🏿

I bought a BMPCC back in when it came out. Then I bought a second one back in 2018. Paired with some C-mount lenses, I just love the image. Glad to have found your work as it is inspiring and gorgeous. Keep them videos coming! Cheers!

This was the first camera I ever owned and I loved it. Recently picked up another one and I’m starting to shoot with it again. The images are unmatched, so gorgeous.

I was absolutely blown away by your bmpcc Detroit video from a month ago but forgot to comment (I think). Anyway, really cool collection! I liked the talking head segment, and I really like your lighting and background

You do great work man and explain things well so if making these types of vids and growing a youtube channel is something you're interested in you should keep doing it, you definitely have the ability to do so. Your post workflow on that BMPCC footage is a good topic for another vid!

Hey , Chris - good video mate, you make some absolutely cracking points about gear.. its almost as if sometimes people suddenly think a capable camera is worthless and useless because a slightly newer one has been released! Totally agree with this ethos!

Great post man. I love old cameras, I think people get caught up in the new camera hype every 18 months or so. Just because a new camera comes out doesn't mean the older cameras are going to all of a sudden become bad cameras.

Just found your channel. You have a wise head on young shoulders. I was stunned at your recent footage especially with the BM OG camera. I’m 47 and have all those cameras and I can tell you it takes years to get to a pro level of filming. You will go far if your already achieving that kind of quality. Subbed! 👏🏼👏🏼

I miss my OG BMPCC. I never caged and rarely put a loupe on the screen and I shot it with some old 17mm Schneider c-mount lens. It was such a tiny package that it just ended up everywhere with me. It looks awesome graded with the Fuji Eterna LUT on it.

Awesome perspective on gear. The newest equipment isn’t required for quality content. The vibe, the composition, the story, are what is important

nice video.Although I already have BMPCC4K, A7S3, GH4, but usually the most like to go out to use or BMPCC, recently equipped with laowa 7.5mm f2, conversion down nearly 22.5mm, more perfect. Carry out very portable, excellent picture quality, make me love it.

Great video. I highly recommend the pentax mx-1 for photography. Such an insanely underrated little camera with built in ND filter. And it meows. It literally meows.
