GogoTech great video, I was starting to think I was the only person experiencing these issues. I get really sore eyes using the iPhone X too and headaches also which is a shame. I find the picture quality better on the iPhone 8 Plus Camera too.

8 plus is pretty underrated because it got overshadowed by the X.

Andrew Tran It's a missed opportunity for Apple. They have the money and the talent but I believe theu currently lack a sense direction. They've been relying too much on their name recognition even as the competition keeps getting better and better every year. I was hoping for a major refresh this year but maybe next they will deliver. For now though many people are keeping their money.

It’s not “worshipping” just because you like the phone. I’ve been an Android user from the start and my first iPhone was the 7 Plus. I just bought the X and I like it much more than the 7 Plus. Everyone has different taste.

The thing is though many reviewers are willing to give Apple a pass just because they are Apple. There is a lot of things wrong with the iPhone X and the duty of a honest reviewer is to point them out. The biggest for me is the price. There is no way the X is worth $1K or way more than that if you live out of the US. Then there is the reliability issue, the nutch, face ID...

Abdulai Bah pretty much all of the tech reviewers I’ve seen have pointed out issues with the X with exception to the hardcore Apple fans. But honestly, the notch doesn’t really bother me and I haven’t had any issues with Face ID either. But regarding the price point, it’s just a matter of whether you can afford or not. There are suits that cost $3,000 and suits that cost a fraction of that and they both serve the same purpose. But if you can afford it, then so be it.

Hats off to you, Sir. Straight to the point, no sneaky in-video promotion, no stupid intro and no begging for likes/comments etc. you got a subscriber!

Iphone 8 plus hands down. It’s better built. I’m actually about to purchase another one as we speak cause I have tons of stuff with touch ID. Mine’s working like a champ. Only my lightning connector is going bad inside, I have to move the cable a bit for it to charge. Another than that it’s great

I picked the 8 plus from the beginning. I like the fingerprint scanner. You don't have to pick the phone up to open it and the screen is bigger. I just wish they kept the headphone jack.

I don’t mind the lack of the headphone jack because I have the AirPods. It’s time to step into the future, that’s the push Apple is going for. Wires should be a thing of the past by 2020, it’s just that time. They’re messy and awkward. Wireless headphones can last for years to come, rather than buying rubbish repeatedly.

Evangelos Foudoulakis that’s because the home button is not actually a button. It’s fixed in place, A vibration motor gives you the sensation you’re clicking it. You can even set the intensity in settings :)

OMG!! You are the 1st person on KZread that I have come across that mentioned the red/white eye problem with the camera on the iPhone X. Like you, I shoot a lot of pics and video of my kids and it’s normally in low light. In every video, my kids have white eyes. I actually wanted to throw the X through a window. It’s a design flaw with the iPhone X that Apple won’t acknowledge. Thank you for pointing this out.

Yes, it’s just so sad that many consumers are willing to put up with this crap from Apple. It’s definitely a design flaw because I’ve tested it very throughly and it always does the same thing. Now, I did shoot some videos in lowlight with the iPhone X using the flash my my iPhone 8 Plus at the same time and the red eyes and white eyes go away. So it’s definitely the flash design being to close the the lens. If you pay attention closely you can also see that the iPhone X picks up a lot of lint when using the flash in low light. I can’t believe this past the testing lab when this phone was in the early testing stages. I guess Apple couldn’t afford to push this phone back to this fall. That would be a big loss for the investors and Apple. I hope those video gets the attention from Apple. Thanks for watching.

I am personally using a Moto E4 Plus I got at $100 because I feel as though it does not compromise anything for a phone and is at a great price, especially if you get the Amazon Offers and Ads like I did

iPhone 8/8+ is better overall. Does the optical stabilisation on the X make a real world difference? Even if it did, the red/white eyes on photos and video are a big no-go for me at least. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus has optical image stabilization too. The only difference is the telephoto lens on the iPhone X is stabilized as well. Yes, the red eyes issue is a really serious problem on the X. It has not been talked about yet and people are unaware of the issue. A lot of my holiday photos and videos were ruined because of the flash on the X. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the long time support. Yeah, DXo mark did mention that the iPhone X quad Led flash did suffer from red eyes and it was underexposed compared to iPhone 8 Plus. I just didn’t think it would be this serious with the red eyes.

I have a question. I just upgraded my phone to the 8 Plus. I seem to notice some video distortion when viewing things such as youtube, netflix or even videos on instagram. I have tried to change video settings to 1080p to all that allowed, but it just seems to still be a touch blurry. Do you have the same issue, or are you videos crisp?

Finally someone speaking about the damn dust particles in the camera!!!! i have a 7 plus and i have them too... iPhone cameras without dust particles are really rare... wtf

Hi! Those are exactly some of the reasons why I've choosen the 8+ instead of the X. I never believed in face ID, the fingerprint is so fast and reliable. By the way, I had the phone since december 2017 and I'm super satisfied. Never ran out of battery. IMHO it's a shame they didn't include at least the quick charge cable usb-c to lightning, but I guess that's just the Apple's style we're all used to. Quick charge makes a huge difference.

I completely agree with you and thats why after going back and forth with both, I stuck with the 8 Plus and returned my X. The plus has a bigger/wider screen perfect for watching videos, faster touch id, and the multitasking is a mess too, why do you have to long press to dismiss an app.

Did you regret your decision or no? I have been used the iPhone X for 3 weeks and I’m thinking in going back to 8 Plus. I had the 7 plus before! So is it worth it? I would spend around 40 dollars to go to 7 plus to 8 plus, so I think they’re nearly the same so I’m thinking if I keep my or sell can’t decide

Joshmakey12 I have the XR, it is amazing phone regarding the price, I don’t mind the display at all and battery life is awesome. Personally the whole phone is too big and heavy (192 grams) and u need a big case to protect it. Apart from that, it is a great buy.

I'm so glad the PWM issue is raised in videos. Most reviewers complain when new phones don't have OLED but for those of us sensitive to flicker it's a pain that flagships and even mid range phones are going OLED. I hope the rumored 6.1" iPhone with LCD display won't be cheated of important features. Even though rumors suggest it won't have 3D touch or a that nice stainless steel bezel. I'm kinda betting on the 6.1" since Google has cut of my upgrade path with all the pixels using OLED.

What brand of cases do you have both of the phones in at the end of the video? I wouldn’t mind getting one for my phone.

I had the X and X plus and came back to the 8 plus the color gold on the 8 plus is awesome and the price of the 8 plus $699.99 finalized it for me

if i was gonna get 8 series over the x, then i'd get standard 8 to save a lot of weight and girth. 202 grams and the dimensions of the 8+ are just absurd. Even the 174 of the x is pushing my comfort limits. I'm happy with my x, but the standard 8 is a VERY close runner up. The 8+ is absurd.

Went from 7 plus to X. I️ like it a lot. Favorite feature is the portrait mode from facing camera.

Went from 5S to X. I love taking great quality or continuous photos. Everything is clean and faster.

I hate touch ID cuz my hands always sweat and mine never flickers

Yeah. It can be an issue with sweaty hands.

I notice both phones have matt black housing on back, did you put it on yourself and if so where could I get it up?

Yeah... You make good points... Yeah I went with the iPhone 8+ for the fingerprint scanner and the larger screen and the LCD actually cuz I use my phone a lot for reading with my Kindle app.

Still using the 4s since it’s released and now got iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X

Unless your iPhone 7 Plus is getting old or have issues, I don’t really see the point in getting an 8 plus if I were you.

Hey. I noticed you had a case on both the phones with an apple logo but the bottom seem covered/closed. Can you tell me what case you’re using?

Is the iPhone 8 exactly the same as the 8 plus just with a smaller screen?

It seems like a lot of people switching back to the iPhone 8/8 Plus or miss the iPhone 8/8 Plus after using the iPhone X

Yes, I definitely did. I was using the iPhone X as my daily driver and it just didn’t work out. It just felt like I was missing the total iPhone experience.

Cheryl Young I don’t know I’m just saying I seen some youtubers switching back from iPhone X to iPhone 8/8 Plus due to Touch ID or missing the big size of the iPhone 8 Plus etc.

I had the same issues, I’m really enjoying the 8+

Great choice. We’re about 5 months away from the new iPhone X plus anyways. This is going to be an exciting year of new iPhones in multiple variations.

I...I still love my X but can’t think of any argument against your reasons. Kudos for an honest, practical comparison.

All the problems you experience I have not. I love my iPhone X. I swapped to the iPhone 8 Plus for 2 days and hated it. So went back to the X

Matthew Crisp reaaaallly?? Omg I’m in the same situation! I have my x but I miss my 8 Plus, but I’m not sure and can’t decide! I wanna switch but I’m afraid I’ll regret! I’d get nearly 300 dollars back though, I’ve been using mine for 3 weeks

Solid review. Recent weeks I was leaning towards the iPhone X but now, I'm back on the iPhone 8+ wave. (Upgrading from the 6S)

Troy Trav I spent hours upon hours watching and reading reviews because I was so conflicted about whether I wanted to upgrade to the 8+ or the X (from a 6+). I eventually decided on the 8+ and couldn’t be happier. In the end it came down to size and Touch ID as crucial factors in choosing the 8+. Good luck making a choice! If it’s the 8+ you shouldn’t regret it.

You are already late to the party to upgrade, might as wait for the next gen iPhone. Try to upgrade in the beginning to be on time. iPhone X design is the future. The iPhone 8 Plus design is outdated now.

Andrew Tran This is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos and I have to say that I found it quite interesting. I couldn’t believe how bad that flickering got. I’ve seen numerous OLED and it’s variants, but I’ve never seen the screen do something like that. It would drive me crazy. Is it because of the PWM? Or is something else doing that? The reason I’m asking the new lineup that is coming out will have 2 OLED displays. Will they definitely do this as well or is it possible that there display could be better than the LCD? Also, I was unaware of the lack of landscape in the X. So same question, will the new phones with OLED support landscape? It would be crazy to have a 6.5” display that doesn’t support landscape. Thank you for this video, I’ll be looking for some other because this one impressed me.
