One thing that came to mind looking at the park was that you are placing trees rather than carving them out. I would probably look at park more in a Negative spaces kind of way. So fill the entire park area with trees and then start thinking about where in this wooden area I would like to have activities. And how would people get around to the different activities. And then just carve it out.

I think whilst having lines of trees is a good quick way to fill in some land and neaten it all up, it gets quite repetitive in my opinion and can begin to look unnatural. Even just deleting a couple of trees in each line, and then offsetting them a few feet from the line, can give a much more natural look and helps break up the regimented look to it all. I also like to add extra trees behind the main line on areas with a lot of space. Some places where i keep the absolutely straight lines is outside of businesses that would plant them that way on purpose and maintain them, or sometimes in showpiece areas in parks where everything is meant to look groomed to perfection.

  • @evereatingdavid

If you're ever looking for inspiration for a big park in the middle of a city, have a look at Berlins "Tempelhofer Feld". It's a ridiculously large park in Berlin which used to be an airport. Nowadays, there's community gardens, the runways are used by bikers and skaters and there's even a bird reserve. I think something like that would look amazing in Cities Skylines Edit: I just found out that they're kite surfing on the former runways as well! Also, the Google Earth images sadly don't show the size and details of the park properly, so also look at pictures, please!

On the Teddington side where I grew up, the gate was on a similarly curved road, with roads lined with houses on the side opposite the park. If there is any kind of telescope or astronomy asset out there, that would go great in a small part of that big open area for night time activity in the park. I love parks. I don't even have the DLC. I just use the things I find as props and mix in a few of the base game parks to make areas for Cims to hang out. Cims absolutely love it when you add any kind of walking or biking path. Sometimes, taking a break from building really allows for a fresh look. I do this with many creative that I do including my music studies. I find that after a while I can't think or hear the music and it's time to step away and work on something else. Coming back to the pieces another day, or sometimes months later, gives me a fresh look at the work. I do this with Cities: Skylines and with Trainz TRS-Plus.

I think those apartments you placed by the TV station shouldn't be detached. If you think about it, that is prime realistate for employees of the industrial park and the builder would want to fit in as many units as possible.

Always enjoy a good Blightea episode! Some suggestions if you like: -A little pond in that park maybe behind the kiddy area with some picnic benches would be really nice -A couple cafes or street food stalls by the skate park maybe to grab some tea and biscuits for a nice evening tea in the park? -I'm missing all the rocks we saved in New Tealand! Maybe import some over? -This one's really nitty gritty but could you (even off camera) maybe BOB some trees (especially on that children's park with those random palms) to make it a little more cohesive? Great build anyway Biffa! Have a great day :D

it would be great to see some old school 80s/90s offices kinda close to this park. From experience, it tends to be huge companies like IMB who buy up this big land to use for their office staff but it usually outlives them and turns into a community hot spot. Our spot like this in Portsmouth was where the local fireworks display was and it's still called 'IBM fireworks' to this day 😂

6:29 Putting that crossing there, has really messed up your lane markings. I think the people of Orpington would have been fine crossing over the roundabout or using the crossing further down the road. 22:17 A small pond would have been cool but I know how much you like to deal with water. (Not without reason.) 23:11 Didn't you have a mod that allowed you to select and change the trees that come with the paths? Including the spacing? Or did that even come with the game? The apartment area looks good and the close industry isn't that noisy or polluting so that shouldn't be a big deal.

I think in the little apartment complex, in the triangle of space behind the parking lot area, it would have been nice for the complex to have a built in playground. I know they're right by a large park but there's a busy road in-between and would have been "a good selling point" for the apartments story-wise. I'm enjoying Flabaliki's detailing in his most recent city and recommend his videos.

I think you need more connectivity with the paths! I just keep seeing points of the paths that are so close to a usable road sidewalk and i can imagine that people irl will naturally just create their own path. Of course only if there is a low enough fence or no fence, one can assume pedestrians will cut through hedges to get to somewhere they think will be a faster route irl Also more roadside commercial nodes would be cool like as if there was a corner store, gas station or chain restaurants

That's probably what happened with the childrens' area as that one has an entrance without a side gate. So making one way a real path and the other gravel would have met with that story. I also think sand might have been a good alternative for the ground but no idea how would actually look.
