Why I Sold My Martin SC-13E After 1 Year

Музыка

I owned a Martin SC-13E for about 1 year before selling it. I go over my thoughts on the guitar and why I sold it.

The entire guitar is amazingly comfortable. I own 7 acoustics all shapes and sizes. This hands down is the most comfortable and easy playing acoustic guitar that I have ever played. It sounds great unplugged. Perfect for finger picking. I am considering swapping out the Fishman for a LR Baggs Element VTC. It's more suited for finger style playing (warmer). The back and sides are solid Mahogany with a thin Koa veneer. Not a laminate. Big difference!! The Only regret is I didn't get one of these sooner. Thank you Martin Guitars. 👍

If it has solid mahogany back and sides why do they put a thin Koa veneer in between ? No need to, if it's solid, thus its laminate !

The thin Koa veneer is on the outside/top of the solid mahogany back and sides. Not sandwiched In between. Not a laminate.

The whole idea of this guitar isn't about replacing your other Martin (Nor my HD-28) It's made for stage. Exactly what I'm buying one for. I was surprised at how much voice and projection that it had when I test drove one. Thanks for your insight though. Your reasons make sense.

I just got myself an all mahogany SC 10e and I love it. I bought it for performing live. It is very comfortable sitting and the ease of play helps a lot over a 3-4 hour gig. I am getting old and do not have the strength I once had. I like mahogany top acoustics so this guitar was a no brainer once I discovered it.

i walked into sweetwater last year with just over $6000 in cash to get a acoustic guitar, i was looking at some of the hummingbirds and j-45's and a few of the guilds along with anything else that caught my eye. after more than 5 hours of playing everything i could i walked out with a sc-13e. i could have gotten almost anything, except those crazy taylors and martins on the top shelf as they are all well over $6000. yet that sc-13e was the best feeling best sounding guitar i touched that day. i really dont know why they get so much hate. and if you talk to the guys that sell them Martin cant make them fast enough they have sold many thousands and a lot of places are regularly sold out waiting for more. also, i am old, and the low action is nice for old fingers.

I love the SC!....coming from 20 years of Electric, I can absolutely shred on it, lack of finger fatigue is Everything for me.......sadly I turned down more expensive guitars because my fingers were toast after a few minutes. My hands are incredibly strong, but I'm clamping super hard.....the SC just feels Electric and normal to me, strings were soft....and the Tone sounds like Dreadnaught, so I dig it.

I’ve had an sc13e for two years and I rarely play it. I love my strat and I just want to play it, even over the Les Paul. I’d like to trade the Martin for a Fender Acoustisonic, but haven’t played one yet to see if I like them. I don’t play around a. camp fire, so don’t need that.

I have the SC-13e special ... Here is my one complaint and I'm seeing if anyone else has dealt with this - i get an insane low freq. feedback... i have tried to EQ the frequency out ... i have killed all low tones out of my PA ... it is extreme low freq feedback ...or kill all bass levels where it has no balls at all ...any body else deal with this or have solutions

Realistically about $1200 for the Special Burst would be nice. Its not even all solid. $900 would buy you an all solid Faith Venus Hi Gloss - I have one and its fantastic.

While the neck of the SC-13 is great and the super light strings are nice to play. There are a lot of better sounding guitars in this very competitive price range from other manufacturers.

After hyped up so much, when I played the sc13 I was completely unimpressed, by the sound and tone. I have a cheap Epiphone which is 4 times better in that dept. I can only see these new guitars being good while plugged in. And hand strength is definitely a practice and tolerance.

I think the guitar is 100% junk. Won't stay in tune and sounds horrible. It's like something you'd buy at Walmart. A $1500 dollar waste.
