Portugal is a great country to live in Europe. Amazing climate, food, education and health system. You can get the NHR/D7 visa which is easy to obtain. You can also get a mortgage in Portugal, avoiding the current abusive rents, with only 20% or 30% downpayment showing your 1040F, paystubs and credit score. Remember to maintain your job until signing the deed here in Europe (process can he done entirely remotely using a local lawyer) then you are free to leave rhe US! If you want to retire on the next 5 to 10 years you can buy now and rent the property until you come. Happy Easter!

If you can afford to leave, then do so without looking back. Quality of life and peace of mind is PRICELESS 🎉🎉.
Money can give you a comfortable life, but it cannot make you happy. I travelled to many different countries while in the military. While experiencing different cultures, I felt peace and enrichment . I met many people who didn't have much financially but seemed happier than people I knew who were financially sound. Money drives people in the U.S. , whereas, it seemed family, culture, peace of mind and happiness was the driving force of a lot of other countries.

Mr Fain. I'm a big fan of your channel. I love the way you educate and express your views on economics, investments etc. In regards to Americans living abroad, I'm one of those expats who has been residing in Japan for 15 years. Back in the 2008 economic collapse, I lost me job and I had the golden opportunity to come to Japan and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. I'm a dude from the Bronx and I would never have thought that I would be living in another country, speaking reading and writing another language, especially a difficult one like Japanese. Now on the outside looking in, there were some things that were considered to be normal back in states, actually would be abnormal. The most obivious thing would be gun violence, crime, as you memtioned cost of living and important one HEALTH CARE, and overall quality of life. Now I'm not saying Japan and other countries don't have their problems, but the amount of people struggling back home is appalling. It seems like Americans basic living standards are in danger if not already. Many people have asked me would I want to go back? And the answer is No. Maybe Canada, someplace in Europe, New Zealand, somplace that just has a certain quality of life. Those who follow your channel and those whom may be reading this, just KNOW you have options. Do the research about where you want to go or be and most importantly don't be afraid of taking the needed steps to make it happen. Growth usually happens when we leave our comfort zones and please understand this, don't expect other countries to be like and do things like AMERICA. If you can accept this and understand this then I think the transition would be smooth. 👍👍👍👍

Well, we don't want americans to come to Europe. We have own problems here.
I left the US on a three month trip to Europe in 1996. And now I only go back to visit my family. It was the best decision of my life. America is a country of division. I’m a human first, American second. I always have been. And living outside of America looking has only enforced that feeling. Being in the world, and being able to travel to different countries and experiencing different cultures is our God given right, and America has reduced being happy to owning things. I have wealthy friends and relatives in the US, and they tell me that I’m wealthy because I’m free. I’ve been all over Europe, Africa, even Russia (Siberia & Moscow), and the racial stigma that exists in America has not been a part of any of my travels. I would urge any American, especially a person of color to get out and see the world, because you never know where you’ll be happy unless you explore your options. The world belongs to all of us, and we should all enjoy it. Love your channel. May God continue to bless you, and all the best of success to you.
I up and left the US in 1990 and lived in Finland for a decade. Great people and a beautiful country. I’m sure Sweden, Norway, etc. are nice, too. Peace of mind, mental clarity and a better quality of life can be had in these places. Money is considered a tool to live not something to be chased 100% of the time.

I've chosen to put my resources where they were originally intended. I recently heard an African brother say, you've suffered in America because that was never originally intended to be your home. You can make a ton of money in the USA however living here requires you to spend a ton too so how much do you keep at the end of the day? Inflation is extremely annoying and the banks constantly report how much money is in your account so they increase inflation rates as bank deposits go up. How on earth is this no stealing??!!
Hey Richard, I'm a fairly new subscriber and a 52 year old white guy. I heard about the history of slavery as a kid and I guess I just figured it was all in the past and was just kind of oblivious to it all. I hate to think there are people of color here in the USA who would want to leave in part, due to the history of slavery. I served in the Army with a lot of people of color, all of them I liked and all of them made a positive contribution to the USA. I wish the past was different. I really don't know what to say other than I respect you as a fellow man and wish you the best.

I’m retiring early and moving to Panamá 🇵🇦 for the beautiful people, great weather and better quality of life ✌🏾
I have definitely made up my mind about moving. The economy is one thing that I can adapt to so that part doesn't really bother me. My main reason for leaving is safety and peace of mind. America has gotten to a point where the government pretty much allows criminals to run wild and good honest hard working ppl are not safe or at least can't feel safe so I'm definitely making sure that the country I move to is #1 in that 100%.
Hello Richard. It gives a lot to think about when US citizens think very critically about their country where they grew up, what all is going wrong in their country. Yes right, The Land of the Free is no longer what it promises. The American dream is becoming a nightmare. For many people there no longer affordable and an end or change not in sight. I wish you good luck and hope you find the right place for you. Greetings from Germany
Richard, I was in the military for 26 years and spent a lot of time overseas, traveling back and forth from the Middle East, Korea, and Africa and I can tell you there are many places that offer Black people a better quality of life then here in america. The people treat you with respect, your not followed around by the cops, and people don't see you as a threat when your walking down the street. Everytime I come back to the states from one of my trips i feel depressed to be back in the states and can't wait till I have to go back out. I'm 50 and I've been thinking about it and probably will within the next few years, since my job allows me to live anywhere in the world. Many of my coworkers currently live abroad and don't have any plans to come back to the u.s., both Black and white, they said they've had enough of the bs that goes on in america, and want a safe place to live and raise a family.

This is a very well articulated proposition. I’ve lived in the Midwest, DMV, and SoCal, all by choice. I think that choice is the most powerful thing that we have. We sold everything in 2021 and left for the continent of Africa. The 4 reasons presented were in play, as well, the key, being that I am a Black person. When I understood the slavery and pre-slavery narrative, that sealed the deal. Few, pursue what happened pre-slavery (prior to 1400), both historically and biblically. For us, Rwanda 🇷🇼 offered a nice slow transition. Ultimately, we retired to some properties in Zanzibar, Tanzania 🇹🇿, in a new community development. We are experiencing peace of mind and the creative juices are flowing like never before. Much love, from Africa.
im a cab driver in AUSTRALIA im thinking of leaving too as the cost of living is nuts, many of my passengers have told me PORTUGAL too, i was thinking phillipines or thailand myself for when i retire, housing is the WORST, even if you own your own place the HOA fees go up every yr even if there is no pool or any facility.

@ralphangel561 It's not a defeatist mindset at all. I don't live in fear, but when dark clouds are forming, there's a good chance it's going to rain. I worked for the government for decades, and part of my job was to study sociopolitical situations around the world and use that information to create risk and threat assessments. History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme. This country is in a more dire situation than most people understand. Jan 6 2020 proved that. That level of ignorance, disregard for the rule of law and a smooth transition of power was never supposed to happen here. Even worse, it was all based on one man spewing blatant lies. There's a large part of the population in this country that is basically a cult, and that never ends well. Just look at what happened with Hitler and Mussolini. Like I said before- history doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes.
This is why so many people come here to build wealth and spend their latter years somewhere else.

As a military vet who lived outside the US, if you can move GO FOR IT. Going to third world countries is incredible the people, the cities, the customs and in most places, they are OVERLY friendly. It's like going to another planet, everything is completely different from America.

I’m a vet who recently retired as well. And for the last few months, I’ve been asking myself the same questions Richard is talking about. Can’t get it out of my head. Here in America, it seems everyone is so disconnected from each other. Going through a divorce has only amplified my desire to move. Do I want to start all over here in America or is there a better place abroad where people treat each other better? Would you recommend any places?

But if your motive is I'm oppressed cause I'm brown 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is something my family thinks about all the time. We visited the Netherlands and it was a very different way of life, in a good way!
Thanks for the video! I’m a 41 year old black man and have been thinking the same thing. Fortunately I too don’t have to worry about cost of living as I do pretty well for myself. But I’m childless and unmarried Sony reasoning would be purely for the experience. I want to stretch myself, grow, and shift my perspective from this ultra competitive lifestyle to one of balance, health, and peace. ✌🏾
Richard, first of all great presentation. As an American who has spent over 30 years overseas working for various U.S. agencies, I would have to say that the “quality of life” is FAR BETTER overseas then being here. People don’t care about each other in this country. “King Dollar” is all that matters in this society. Nothing else. When I was stationed in Italy for 3 years (USN Ret. Veteran here) the Italians had a phrase that went like this: Do you live to work? Or do you work to live? We Americans live to work!!! I would recommend Portugal to you. My wife and I have been there twice already and that country is fantastic. Out plan is to eventually live there in the future. Hope this helps.

I like what you are talking about. I have not been to Europe but I think the European governments are there to serve the people, more than serve itself. America's government is employer-employee. Thousands of ways to take your money and cause you to spent more time working than living.

My sister and I are currently researching Rwanda as a possible country to move to. We are visiting this summer for a month. I have realized that we have been lied to about Africa. Many blacks are fearful of the continent due to the mainstream media's portrayal.i suggest you visit Africa too. There are 54 countries. America is taking us back to the Jim crow era rapidly. We have fought so long but things are worsening for blacks.
A few days ago I started looking into japan. I've always wanted to take a vacation there and if I were to find a way to move I'd like to move to a country that has a standard of living close to that of the US. I also tried to see if I could invest in the Japanese stock market too but it seems like I can't. I would need to be a citizen to do that. I might look into holding some Japanese ADR's until then.
You'd better hurry! Don't wait! I've been in Switzerland almost 7 years and it's great.

I am one of those people who leave the US, I moved to Jamaica, and I couldn't be happier, I built my beach front villa and worked from home and started my own business. It's 3 years now. I still go back and forth to NY to visit my family . I can live on $1000 for a month, I am not an extravagant person, so my lifestyle is very low-key and simple .
