When you delete social media you realise how little friends you do actually have, but at least they are real.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Seeking validation will keep you trapped. You don’t need anyone or anything to approve of your worth. When you understand this you’ll be free. Thank you I need this today! New subscriber. 🙏
I deleted my Facebook and Instagram, and I couldn't be happier. Thank you for your videos

@@deadvibez4978 so far as FB... it's deleted but still have Instagram because I don't see what other people think all the time
So true everything you said!! I quit social media in 2016 for all of those reasons you spoke about. I went back to it for a couple months when the pandemic hit but it didn’t take long to realize the same thing was happening again. I started feeling not good enough along with all those other negative emotions. Instead of just deactivating, this time I permanently deleted my social media account. Done being manipulated by all that nonsense
Problem with social media is that people take granted for what is going outside They are trapped in the virtual world. The constant gossip and bragging receives likes. If we want to encourage people to attend events that is ignored. I do not want to see people so addicted to the world and realise there is more to life than social media. Life was better in previous decades as we were free from these time wasting distractions. I have reduced my time on social media. It is becoming boring
I deleted my Twitter account like 3 years ago. Last year I felt super depressed and I kept comparing myself to others. Deleted my Instagram account about 10 months ago. I’ve been feeling great since then! 😄
I have to agree totally, they are time destroyers I can spend hours on all social media. Only one I’d like to keep is You tube as I like to watch and make videos.
I have never had a Facebook account, or Instagram or Twitter. I don't feel I'm missing much. Good for you that you are doing this. I don't think you are selfish at all. It's high time you focus on you.
I left Facebook a few years ago when I realized I almost always felt slightly unsettled after looking at it. Especially when I felt like I spent too much time looking at something I didn't really like. I never looked back. YT is dramatic enough.. That's enough lol.
I will add that I don’t think it’s just social media.. before social media my grandmother would argue with my grandma what the other men in the neighborhood did for their wives. Way before social media people felt like they weren’t enough, or comparing lives. Then came the media like tv and magazines and now it’s in our hands / phones which is worse but I think we should all work on our selves. I like to see people doing good and think wow, it’s possible. Or even that person who did better than us, there’s someone who did better than them!
Even if I’m not jealous of someone I see someone I disagree with and I feel the need to debate and get angry like “ew people think like that! I hate it here”
Can we just talk about how good his singing voice is?!
I glanced at FB for 20 mins or so over the past few days and it absolutely robbed me of my joy for two full days. The voices came screaming out of nowhere. Look what you don't have! Look how boring and meaningless YOUR life is! It's unreal the power we give to social media. It destroys.

That's not social media talking to you, it's you being weak minded. You do have a boring and meaningless life, and it's not because of social media, it's because you're mentally inept.
I quit FB and SM except for my website which is my business. Life did not cease to exist though some people were not happy with my decision. I am a avid reader, took up cross country running, and decided to go back to college at the age of 48 and get a second degree in History. Why does an individual feel they need to post every aspect of their life for all to see???!! I have more time for church, mission and humanitarian work, and volunteering more hours a month in our community soup kitchen. We only have one life....make it count!
You opened my eyes, thank you
Amazing. Thank you for the video

Thank you for this video, no wonder why I feel less and missing something even though i have done my best.
When i was on fb couple months ago sometimes I’d be depressed and a relatable depressing post would come up smh
Good for you!!!!
Thank you for your videos bro 💪❤️
You’re right, but it’s sad to hear this
I'm listening to you as I write this. I'm toying with the idea of going through withdrawal from social media. I belong to a private Facebook group, under a pseudonym. It met my needs when my late mother was alive and I was her caregiver. I got useful info and people seemed to like my shit. I'm getting what you're saying about the sun rising and setting on me. Lately, I've become an occasional essayist at the group. It really weirds me me out when people tell me that they live for the appearance of my stuff. I don't need that. I may leave the group soon, if not tonight, and I may wipe out my pathetic little FB page as I go. I won't leave KZread simply because I enjoy content from some from very creative people.
Well, social media has always been about my life is better than yours competition, but facebook and twitter had some elements of socializing/staying in touch with people in early years until 2012 - 2015 period, when they definitely, together with instagram, became places for aggressive (self)marketing and advertising, and bitching disguised as social activism. It is harder and harder psychologicaly to be on it as the time passes, especially in this pandemic times. Very bad for our mental health.
Amen! Love you Scott!
I've been off of FB for over a year now, and my life is more real than ever. Never did make any other SM media accounts like it. Thanks God. Choose to be pro-human/pro-now/pro-real connections.
I think social media is very bad for people that suffer with their mental health. But i dont think its to bad for people who have ok mental health and also restrict their amount of social media usage.
This is all true. In my case I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with validation(yet). But I have this obsession with knowing what's happening and its like this fear of missing out if I don't check social media. Like I just NEED to know what's happening. That's how it is for me with Twitter and Reddit. The only social media app I have a good relationship with would be Instagram cause I just use it to post my art and look at other people's art and I don't use it more than 20mins max. It doesn't help that I need to use social media because I'm an aspiring artist/game developer and getting more followers is kinda important if I want to turn my passions into a successful career :/ So I'm a bit screwed here.
Grateful for your many videos = you've done SO much for mental health it's amazing!! But you don't need to heal the whole world you're only human.

it also very much depends on what you're watching. I restricted my instagram to only street photography and art which i love and no stories whatsoever. I'm still addicted but at least it feels like I'm addicted to something really inspiring.

Great video. For women.. it's telling us we must look young forever or we have zero value. We need this product or that diet program. When I was going through cancer treatment I actually quit social media for the entire year and a half of treatment and despite going through cancer during a pandemic my mental health was just fine except for a few steroid fueled rages lol.
I quit fb Instagram 2 weeks ago it feels grttt...
