The trigger warnings on Storygraph were life changing for me. And the "pace" helps me stay out of reading slumps: I filter my to-read by medium or fast paced. Helps keep me afloat between classics.

I recently started trying StoryGraph and I like it so much! My only issues are that there isn’t much of the community options the way there are in Goodreads (book clubs, lists, quizzes, the ability to ask authors questions) and it has a much smaller audience which means it lacks in reviewers. Other than that, I’m really enjoying it (especially the UI, it’s so much better and more up to date)

I like that they have more statistics and better recommendations. However as a German reader I do not find many German books in my language and if so the editions are often without a cover, it’s the English translation of the German author or English books do not have the German editions to chose for your library. I hope they add them in the future. Until then it’s not as user friendly as Goodreads for non-English users who like to read in their native language.

Editions without cover: You can just click on "flag incorrect information" on a book's page and create a ticket. I had a similar problem at first, but it really helps if you set German as one of your languages in the settings (yes, you can luckily choose more than one language). I'm Czech so it was really hard for me to find any Czech books at first, but now it's a lot easier. There is also a feature that allows you to add books that you can't find, which I have used many times so far and you can potentially help other users find books they might be looking for as well :)

On the story graph users can make up reading challenges (not just based on number of books read) which anyone can join. Would be cool if you came up with one and everyone here could join and follow along. The reading challenge feature also tracks all the books which people submit to each prompt so you can start to see a little categorised library of what everyone's reading

So many more options for categorizing, sorting your TBR, adding trigger warnings, etc. And Goodreads just promos the same problematic authors over and over on their main page. @@arandomuser9459 Amazon doesn’t just harm them, Amazon has wiped out the majority of indie booksellers and even major booksellers. What Amazon does is subsidize their book prices, and offer them at much lower prices-which makes them lose money actually (but they can afford to do that). They do this to create a monopoly on books since everyone will then go and buy from them, driving out other booksellers, and eventually they plan to raise prices bc they will control the market. it’s very sad, which is why i try to avoid Amazon as much as possible when it comes to buying books. this topic is complicated however and I might not have covered everything entirely or accurately, so I would tell you to do some further research if you’re curious!

What I love about Storygraph is honestly the stats. I’m a sucker for a good graph. As someone who will read pretty much anything you throw at me, Storygraph has helped me actually see patterns and understand my own reading habits better. I’m excited to see how my stats will change over time, and I love that you can compare your reading stats from different time frames. I like the tags as well because it helps to understand why they’re recommending a certain book, and I love that it gives you an idea of the pacing, which gives me a better chance of finding books I’ll actually LOVE and not just kinda enjoy.

I love how Storygraph has this individual compiled statistics of the pages read, pace, moods and star ratings for the months. It makes my inner nerd so happy. I totally appreciate the trigger/content warning that they provide, because aside from its great use to readers that want to read a book, it also made me more alert or somehow much aware on a book that I'm reading. I'm now consciously looking in for trigger/content warnings in the books that I read and list them so that I could add that when I make a review, and not forget a single one. The DNF feature was also amazing. I now only use goodreads to keep track of my friends' reading and for reading written reviews (especially rant reviews) But in terms of rating books, Storygraph is my go to app.

Thank you for telling me about The StoryGraph! I just signed up today and I'm already in love with it. It says that I prefer books that are adventurous, dark, mysterious, and medium-paced, which is based on the 1789 books that I've read on Goodreads. Their recommendations make more logical sense than Goodreads with specific reasoning. Goodreads recs always seem random to me.

I recently began reading so I made a Goodreads pretty much specifically to keep track of what I've read and sometimes look to see what other people thought of something after I've finished it, but the community features really don't matter too much to me. So Storygraph seems pretty awesome and ideal for me, definitely going to make an account now.

Storygraph looks very promising but I'll wait until it's more established to transition over to it. I want to see each book have all of (or at least as many as possible) their editions listed, and a larger userbase so ratings are more reliable. But ya, Goodreads' lack of progress is frustrating. It's 2021 and I still can't filter my To-Read list by genre and/or fiction/non-fiction 😑

If Storygraph includes the social aspect as well (which I don't think it does yet other than the ability to follow people), it'll eclipse Goodreads pretty soon.

I tried Storygraph when everyone started to rave about it but TBH it was not for me. I lost all my previous years content because the import just did NOT work, a LOT of books weren't listed and TBH tho I am a total bookworm, I really don't give a hoot about stats and box ticking and didn't need it pointing out what moods and genres I read as I am already well aware of that and my tastes by now. I feel like it's promoted a lot on its stats , graphs and pie charts and I was never into that at school never mind now. Hats off to someone for creating an alternative though I will be sticking with Goodreads as a log. There's also zero community feel on Storygraph and I really don't care for recommendations on either site. If there was a way to remove or avoid this on Storygraph, it would appeal more

I completely agree. A lot of booktubers have transitioned to storygraph and I'm sure it has a lot of users but there's just no community feel to it - you can't comment or interact with anyone and I think (?) theres no option to leave longform reviews. I follow a lot of excellent reviewers on Goodreads who inspire my reading, so I'm unable to move to storygraph.

So I’m really loving StoryGraph lately. I feel like one of the things that drew people into goodreads (other than the fact that it was literally the only book review site in a social media style) were those silly flame reviews that were filled to the brim with silly gifs. I love that StoryGraph isn’t founding itself on meme reviews and the kind of survey style area ahead of the rating section that informs the tags seems to discourage people from doing things like giving substance-less written reviews. The reviews on storygraph just trend at so much higher quality. And they’ve even put on the effort implement SIMPLE UI changes that just _make sense_ like a button to see only the reviews that have text so you don’t have to sift through pages of just stars to get to something written
