Why I'm Boycotting Sanlida Archery and Why I Think You Should Too

Sanlida Archery steals from archers and the archery community at large and I think it's shameful and I cannot keep quiet about what happened with my relationship with ‪@SanlidaArchery‬. ‪@WorldArcheryTV‬ should re-consider letting them be affiliated with their organization.

I saw the images in the instruction manual. It was very suspicious that they were actual screenshots of your videos (with the picture-in-picture target cam) rather than any actual marketing effort. I've received the same request to use my likeness for promotion. It was tempting for a fleeting moment, but after seeing this, it's clear that they will take first.

i agree with you 100% but the issue is affordability. getting a great bow thats ready to shoot and comes with all the arrows and accesories etc for 130 bucks is just what ppl are going to do when the only other options are 500 bucks and thats for just the bow. the industry really needs to work on getting more affordable options if they dont want ppl flocking to the foreign afordable ones. like the royal x9 at 130 bucks ready to shoot with everything included vs a 400 dollar three rivers bow. when you need a bow and dont have any extra income, youre going to buy that royal x9 anyways.

Sanlida has great bows with great pricing in my experience (as a new archer) I’ve fired more expensive bows from my parents and grandparents, I don’t know, I don’t really see what the issue here is. As a new archer I think the most important thing for people getting into the sport is price, if they make a good quality and lower price bow, that’s all what matters. Honestly. No disrespect but you assuming a country with generally different copyright laws would follow the standards of American copyright law (and yes I know international copyright law isn’t VASTLY different) is just kinda silly. It sucks they used your likeness, but honestly it’s not like for me personally I was gonna buy a bow cause they have a photo of you or anyone else.

sadly, they are a Chinese based business, and there is no real way for Jake or anyone else to take them to court as it would be court in China. lots of products are made in china such as Win & Win but the company is not located in China so there is a credible backing if something where to happen such as IP theft or Image theft. thus you get good response from Win & Win or who ever else. but as Sanlida are China based he likely has no way to be compensated, and no deterrence, so they will likely continue. I will join him in boycotting them though I generally very careful about company reputation anyway.

I've seen very positive reviews of Sanlida products by other KZreadrs, but after hearing of this, wouldn't even consider them. I've always been a "buy American" kind of guy anyway, so this just cements that position. You're a class-act Jake, thank you for all you do!

I really like my X8 recurve. Spot on 40# at 28. Their management probably has a bad seed or two but the products are pretty good. I don’t think they should use your vids for advertising without your permission at all ! Keep up the good work so we can all get better at archery.

Bilibili,China's largest KZread-like website, is full of videos stolen from KZreadrs, including yours. I don't know if they got your permission. It is a shame they can get away with this. I want to thank you, as a Chinese archer, for creating so much good content for everyone around the world interested in archery.

Interesting. So I ended up buying one of their longbow based of a KZread review, and was looking to buy a few for our club. They didn't have the poundage we wanted in stock, and when I enquired about it, after giving me a rough date they offered me a 20% discount if I took some pictures of our club members using the bows and shared them on Facebook . It seemed really weird and I declined. Now seeing this I'm very glad I didn't. I don't particularly want club members pics spread across the Internet attached to podict sales.

I have an affiliate arrangement with them, I was sent a hat and shirts. I like the hat and wear hats. I have zero sponsors and intend to continue to have zero sponsors. Lancaster is a distributor and wholesaler and are knowledgeable so when a viewer is looking for a place to buy gear that will come from a supplier who has a robust warranty and actually knowledgeable customer service & technical experts, I have a place to recommend them to.
