Last year I looked over my 8 guitars and my amps and felt like I would never want another piece of gear. Then last December I was thinking "Maybe an inexpensive 12-string, just to add that sound". At Chicago Music Exchange I was trying some out when they put out some brand new wood library PRS guitars, including a whale blue Artist edition 594 that looked like the ocean. I thought "Well, that's at least $11k". It turned out to be half that, which is still twice what I had ever paid for a guitar before. But dang. I played it. I bought it. It's just gorgeous in every way, and the clean tones are unsurpassed. Makes me smile every day and I haven't regretted it for a second. I'm sure my son will be proud of it when I'm gone, and maybe his son too. A piece of art I use every day. I'm so lucky!

It's nice to see and hear someone for a long long time, who plays horizontal and not just vertical vibratos. Most guitarist are doing way too much vibrato. It's so gentle to hear this modulated vibrato. Just great.

I had a 2019 594 that I sold to pay for some new gear. I already had a PRS Core Paul's Guitar so I thought selling the 594 would be okay. However, the day I shipped it out, I immediately regretted it. That was two years ago. Today, I just had a new 10 Top 594 delivered to me. It is sitting downstairs for 24 hours to get acclimated before I open it up and play it for the first time. I watched your two videos about the 594 years ago and stumbled across them again today. Good to see them again!

PRS and a Brian May Red Special (back right) in the same video. Now that's a video I can relate to! I own 4 PRS guitars ('95 Custom 24, '98 McCarty, '15 Hollowbody II and '16 SE Singlecut) and they all have the same basic characteristics: responsive and resonant. Glad to see you so excited about this instrument. The 594 is on my "radar"!

I feel the same way about mine, unbelievably nice guitar and I feel lucky that I actually own one. Back in July I bought a 594 Wood Library and it's the nicest electric guitar I've ever had in my hands. Mine is spec'd with the rosewood neck, cocobolo fretboard, green paua/abalone bird inlays, natural SA ribbon mahogany body, and the most striking emerald green 10 top I've ever seen. Visually it's absolutely stunning and the fit and finish are flawless. The feel of the rosewood neck is just amazing and a joy to play on. Tonally it's just as impressive. The unplugged volume and sustain wowed me almost beyond belief and still does. Great for playing blues and classic rock where you really want a guitar that sings rather than screams. Intonation is right on and the locking tuners are rock solid. Factory setup was perfect and the tuning was only a few cents off right out of the box. I also have a 2016 Gibson LP Standard that I have nothing bad to say about, it's a really nice guitar but my 594 is the guitar of a lifetime... at least for me. I never in a million years thought I'd own a $5000 guitar, but I sure am happy it's this one. For those complaining about generic tone: Personally I wouldn't call the 594's tone generic, more like versatile. Between the guitar, amp, and a pedal or two you can get just about any tone you want. If you can't, maybe it's not the guitar at fault :) Nice playing btw, I wish I was that good!

I love my PRS 594 (2016 Fire Red Burst) and the neck is superb. I love the Low Turn 58/15's and really captures that vintage LP vibe with the PRS quality and refinements - as well as the bonus of split coils. Expensive - yes but cheaper than a 58 re-issue Gibson and better built!!! i also have a 509 and custom 24 and want to add the Hollowbody 2 (Maybe you should check out the HB2 as well - gives you an Acoustic for your music with the Piezo). Once you own 1 PRS, the 2nd will soon come along... :D

Thank you! I have always used that classical style of vibrato, and it mostly kinda sorta works on my Epi LP. I got a 594 and noticed exactly the same thing as you did. Exactly. So sensitive it picks up that classical vibrato. So I'm not crazy, at least not about that.

PRS guitars are Musical, this becomes even more apparent when you use a great amp at volume. When you feel the resonance connection it's very satisfying. For years I fell into that same camp of thinking they are bland, I played a DGT for 3 seconds through a blackface deluxe and got hooked!

Wow, really surprised when you did the vibrato thing - really seems like a special instrument. You're 100% right, sometimes you just find something that speaks to you and is a great, great instrument - just made better, whatever, who knows. there's just magic in 'em sometimes. I found this on a Les Paul I just got - it's a Tribute and I was looking at a much more expensive Classic in a gold top which I really wanted. But the Tribute just spoke to me and has a special something about it. And yep, can't put it down :)

Thanks for sharing. I've got my eye on that very model. In the last year I have bought a Les Paul that I love but I've mostly played a Strats. I hardly ever play my Strat anymore because I really like the humbuckers. I swapped out the Burstbuckers for Wizz and I love them. The only gripe for me is it's harder to play further down the neck. The PRS seems like the best of both worlds. My wife is gonna kill me if I spend that much $$ on another guitar! lol

I love my 594 too - its an incredible instrument. I remember watching this years ago but it popped back up in my recommended video's and I rewatched it. My 594 is a DC (like yours) but is a 2016. Nearly 3 yrs later, I am still loving my 594. I don't know if you actually check your comments - especially on 'old' video's - but if you do, have you checked out the Hollowbody 2? It has the same PU's (58/15 LT's) and a Piezo you can blend in or send to a separate Acoustic/full range Amp. I think you would love it and would really suit a lot of the music I see you play. Another option maybe the 594 HBii - basically a Hollowbody version of your 594 but doesn't offer the Piezo. It has the same neck carve, scale length, PU's etc - just a hollowbody version. I think you should check out both! I have the HBii myself and absolutely love it too but don't own a 594HB... Not Yet LOL

I bet if there were Yaron PAFs in the PRS it would top anything available today. I'm not a PRS fan at all and have bought and quickly sold three or four of them. Sustaining mids and different kind of compression to the holy trinity. I do agree with the single coil comment. Been using a custom 24 for funky stuff instead of a strat. It's not the same as a strat but it sounds great, different but great.

@@Guitargate I feel comfortable saying that a used singlecut wide-fat PRS is the best guitar avail for (non-shredder) guitarists under $1000, aside from any model used Reverend. Regarding the Bernie, it took me a while to get used to the more angled shoulders at the bindings ("C" shape), which feels a bit more like a modern LP than vintage LP ( "U" but not as much as chucky as a Nocaster or early 50s Strat or Tele). Overall the neck is quite good. Setup, intonation, and tuning stability is good enough to not really need a trip to my local luthier, but I am curious how close to a McCarty or my historic R8 the Bernie could be if I spend some money on setup... I suspect it could be a custom shop LP slayer, when factoring price. Now I'm looking at the Zach Myers PRS. I like the bridge and the satin neck, and that green flame and natural back combo is really appealing too. If anyone wants to swap, I could trade a new Reverend Double Agent W for a Zach PRS.

PRS is a guitar that you may be impressed by looking at it, or even hearing it. But, you put it in your hands, with your rig, with your playing, and it just grows on you so much. Then you get it. You get why they exist. It fills a gap that Fender and Gibson are missing. It doesn't replace those guitars, it just bridges the gap. There are guitars I own that I was excited to have and play, and then the novelty wears off. I recently got a couple of PRS's, and while I was kinds of "meh" at first, playing it, feeling it, hearing it, bonding with it, it really feels like home to me. It fills in the missing gaps that Fender and Gibson have. And the quality of them is unmatched. I recently got the Silver Sky. I bought it without playing it. I was like "Ok. It's a Fender." But, after spending time with it, holy crap it just gels, it works, it sounds incredible, and I crave playing it. I haven't felt that with a guitar in a long time. You don't know you need a PRS until you play it. They are brilliant guitars that I wish purists of Fender and Gibson would give a chance.

Man I have six guitars I can’t put down. Haha. (EBMM Axis SS, PRS McCarty 10 top, Squier SQ -83, ESP Eclipse 1, LTD Viper 1000 and a Schecter Blackjack ATX 7) Imagine how many guitars I played through the years. Still want a EBMM LukeIII and a JP6.

I have both single and double cut Cores.. Best guitars in my collection.. PRS knocked it out of the park.. Dont listen to the gibson fand boys that PRS have no bottom end or mojo, that bs, I have more than 20 American guitars from near every make.. If I blindfolded you played a gibson LP then a PRS , then humbucker strat and asked you which is which you would not guess

Nice tasty licks man. Do you cover licks like that in your course? One tip that would be helpful to viewers and get you views is to list in the description as much of the equipment used in the video as possible and tag it. That way people who are searching for gear will find your videos and get you more audience and possibly subscribers. I'd list the guitar, amp, pedals, camera, audio interface used, etc. I'd love to know what you used in this video for example to get those sweet tones. I know you're not much of a gear head but tons of people are.

Have a chance to trade my PRS Silver Sky (and a newer Gibson SG) for a MCCarty 594... wonder what you opinion of the 594 vs Silver Sky is? BTW- I have a few more strats. 594’s much more expensive guitar hence the 2 for 1 trade. I know your a Silver Sky fan too.

I had a DGT Goldtop... got a pretty good used price for it to finance the guitar in my profile picture. The DGT is close to the best guitar I've tried. Didn't get comfortable with the layout of the controls so I sold the DGT instead of my 2013 Gibson R7... also because I have a great R7 and every guitar player should have one :) The DGT was easier to play, had the best trem I've ever tried and sounded better than my R7. Sounded like a Gibson, but only even more clear tones. The 594 however have more familiar control layout so... yeah... G.A.S :D

So what happens if you need to change the tuners and bridge which are prs designed and back plastic covers, pick up covers? Maybe easy in the U.S but in Asia I do not see dealers stock original Prs or Suhr or Anderson parts..not talking about oem etc I am talking sealed original with Prs or Suhr or Anderson tags like the ones Gibsons and Fenders parts. That is why sticking to Gibsons and Fenders not because I do not like prs or suhr or anderson because every second store stocks original gibsons and fenders...
