9:13 Pockets In My Stash
It's no secret, I love pocket diapers.. In some ways pocket diapers are the easy option but then again it's not always the easy option. In this video I share my insights on that.
I'm not trying to convince you to try pockets or buy pockets. In fact, I think you should use the diapers that work best for your budget and baby's body shape. I just name off my main reasons for using and loving pockets. I know a lot of people have pockets.. and that’s okay, too. We’re all allowed to have different opinions.
I know people either love or hate pockets lol. DO YOU like pocket diapers? Let me know down below!

I switched from covers & flats to pockets & flats bcs of you! And i LOVE it so much more. My 8 month old needs 3-4 diapers a day (i change every 3-4 hours) so i stuff 3-4 every morning or just stuff on the go when i’m lazy. It really isn’t that much more work than covers and flats! I find the elastics feel softer too on the skin than covers bcs of the suede/fleece lining. Also, I line dry my flats, so they’re not soft but i don’t have to worry about how stiff it would feel against my baby’s skin when i use pockets. Now i wish mama koala would make hook and loop pocket diapers for caregivers and husbands.

Your content is always so relevant! We used mainly perfolds and covers for affordability with our first baby but I am pregnant with our second and bought a big bunch of material to make stretchy flats for this one. While I’m excited to use them I would love to have a quick easy option for other caregivers to use and this sounds perfect!!! Also hadn’t thought about the easy poop cleaning aspect of pockets. Love love love your channel!!!

GIRL YES!!! FLATTTTS! I use covers & pockets, pockets mainly for night time and covers during the day, but flats are all I use for inserts. I sort of prefer prefolds just for the newborn stage so I can do jelly roll fold with less fuss, but most of my stash is flats. I toss the microfiber inserts that come with our pockets. Flats are so easy to wash & dry, too.

I get tired of spraying and I will choose pockets over covers every day of the week before Covers. Because even with covers, if you use a fleece liner you’ll have to spray the liner, the insert/flat/Prefold, and the cover. If your baby has a lot of ploppable poop then covers aren’t that bad 😉 I just dread poop on AIOs and covers. I’m also lazy with stuffing so I just keep them in a basket until I do a speed fold Friday video lol. It’s not glamourus but it works ❤️

I'm a pocket lover too! I like ones with double ended openings so I don't have to unstuff. 🙈 I had a love for prefolds and covers for a while but we rarely get plop-able poo here either and they were a bear to spray. 😬 Also, I remember hatching Monarch butterflies with friends growing up on an island I lived on in the summertime. You couldn't go anywhere over there without seeing a monarch and now it's a rarity to see any. It's so sad!

  • @JaysNest

I really like covers! I use them regularly but I hate spraying them lol. If you have the means to grow anything this year, try growing milkweed! Find your native milkweed and plant it ❤️ Monarchs solely rely on it for survival to eat and hatch eggs on. The use of pesticides in industrial agriculture have killed off the majority of the monarchs 😔

They survive off of only milkweed. I’ll be planting a bunch this year. If you can, find out what your native milkweed is and plant it! The use of pesticides in industrial agriculture is the main fault of the decline in their population. 😔

I love size small prefolds for pockets. I don’t personally use anything bigger. I just add hemp inserts if we need more absorbency. Size medium Prefold will work too. Especially for an older baby! It’s bulky though. The GMD muslin flat absorbs the same amount as a medium Prefold. And it’s a little trimmer than a medium Prefold.

  • @MrsMaggieReid

I absolutely love all in ones but I have to admit removing poop from them is the biggest pain in the butt. I absolutely hate it. In my opinion, though, that's one of the only downsides of AIOs. I've never had an issue with my husband or family using them. I just quickly set up the flaps how they need to be set up before I put the diaper away and there are no issues. I feel like giving a person who's unfamiliar with diapers an AIO without the flaps set the way they need to be is comparable to giving them an unstuffed pocket diaper, it's just setting them up for failure. It only takes about 15 minutes to set up all my diapers on laundry day so it really takes barely any time. I don't at all miss the hour plus I'd have to spend every 2 to 3 days putting pockets together 😂 But that's the great part of modern cloth diapering. There are so many diaper options that you can really pick whatever suits you, your baby and your lifestyle best.

I did the three day method (Latin American method ) very similar to other three day methods, but involves potty training at a younger age. According to the Latin American three day method, it is harder to potty train children the older they get. Being that the children are younger, there are a lot less steps. With this method, parents are encouraged to start taking steps towards potty training when your little one can walk on their own (12-18months). Signs to look for that they are physically capable: 1.can hop with both legs 2.have extended period of time with a dry diaper(45min-1 hour) 3.can remove their diaper. All of the kids in my family and extended family have been potty trained way before they reached their second birthday, with this method. Some have been potty trained by their first birthday (the ones that did EC). I’ll see if I can find a translated version and comment the link.

One of my mentors uses pockets without stuffing them and she avoids spraying by putting a disposable liner on top of the inserts (usually prefolds). Is this smart or lazy?

  • @JaysNest

    @JaysNest

    5 жыл бұрын

I never could get disposable liners to work for me. I used them in 2015 and 2016. The liner would move and itd still have to spray the insert and the pocket. I bought liners again and I’ll be trying them again lol. The big issues with liners is that most aren’t actually supposed to be flushed into the toilet because it does not biodegrade very well within a short span of time. Some brands advertise their liners as disposable while others advertise them as flushable. I was watching a video about the sewer systems and it’s bad! So for me... eh. Liners are an extra cost and in the past I still had to spray the Prefold lol. We almost never get ploppable poop. But for some people it is truly a working system with no issues. So I guess you’d have to try it out to see if it works for you! ❤️

You can lay the insert ontop of the micorfleece- as long as the insert is NOT microfiber. I wouldn’t reuse the pocket diaper after 1 use though. Once the fleece gets wet I’d consider it soiled. But if you’re in a pinch then you can definitely lay down a flat or Prefold ontop of the pocket instead of stuffing it.
