Why I love my Mutable Instruments Rings [Easter Egg Mode]

Музыка

Rings is incredible, and I just find out that there is alternative modes hidden inside...
Go on synthmodes.com/modules/rings to know everything.
🔻 More info below 🔻
The patch is pretty simple (it changes a bit during the video, but not a lot, and I give info during the video).
Maths is giving clock to Pico. Pico sends CV to Rings. Then Rings goes to a VCF. That's it !
To add modulation to all those guys, I use one Maths channel as an envelope, an LFO, and a random voltage source.
Modules used :
- Mutable Instruments - Rings (Synth voice)
- Make Noise - Maths (Clock, envelope)
- Pico - Seq (Sequencer)
- Intellijel - µVCF (Low Pass Filter)
- Doepfer - A-147-2 (LFO)
- Doepfer - A-118 (Random Volt.)

The mutable rings in "Disastrous Peace" mode is the ultimate chord machine for making old school techno and filter house :D

I have a Rings clone, and have never found any of the hidden modes. Mind you, I haven’t looked… Thanks for the inspiration!

Hey I'm glad you discovered that with my video ! 😁 I got a Rings clone too, and I think there are easter egg modes natively, but you can expand the potential with the alternative firmwares that are described and downloadable on synthmodes.com/modules/rings. To be honest I don't really remember if I installed anything or if it's fully "clean", but this is pretty simple to do anyway. You just send and the update via an audio file through the audio input. At least this is how I manage to install alternative firmwares in my Clouds.

Just got Rings. You are getting some wonderful sounds with this thing. For me, there seems to be a bit of a learning curve with this module. It seems like it should just immediately sound amazing, but getting it to soon as nice as you are is going to take some work.

Thanks dude ! There's no magic here, just mess with it for hours, play with all the modulation inputs and try things ! You'll master it pretty quickly, and you'll have a lot of fun doing it ! Cheers man, and never stop believing in control voltage

As you can see in the video, I almost use only the v/oct input, to use the Rings as a simple synth voice :) Thanks for your great feedback btw !

Thank you ! Well it's an excellent question, and it's a shame that I didn't cover it in the video. I've been searching for this info myself, watching my own video months after releasing it, and I was disappointed. I guess you have to long press the polyphony button, but I'm not sure. All you need to know is right there www.infinitesimal.eu/modules/index.php/Mutable_Instruments_Rings , and/or right there synthmodes.com/modules/rings/ .

I am sincerely sorry that it hurted your feelings in any way, I never wanted to jab anyone, just to make a reference to a french meme that made me laugh at the time of the video. And, I agree, my sens of humor leaves a lot to be desired.

@@LaBeatrie I can appreciate wanting to reference a meme but like, did the original meme reference genderfluid people? Either way it's not really cool to mock people for a gender identity they have no control over but "gender fluid semi Lebanese" seems really weirdly specific for a meme
