I feel you on the commute. My last job was around 25 minutes about 8% of the time... The other 92% was between 45 minutes and 3 hours (my workplace was near a well known accident area of a highway and there would be 1-3 wrecks in a mile stretch every single day between 4pm-6pm lol.) From my house to the employee parking area of my current job is 1.2 miles, takes 6-10 minutes depending on how many red lights I get caught in. Absolutely love it!

Nice job making that choice dude. It’s also good that you went back to Toyota seeing that you’re really good at working on them. I just can’t handle the shit at my current dealership. Too much favoritism and crap work coming my way. I’m recently stuck on doing a warranty rear diff on a 19 rav4 and seeing I never did one before, it took me a few days to get it off, replaced and reinstalled to the rear subframe. On top of that, I’m still learning the procedure and I have some people breathing down my neck asking when it’s gonna be done. I’m sorry man, but I just cant work in this industry anymore.

Hey Nick congrats on going back to Toyota and the move to a new city how exciting!! Just a thought for the future but if you ever want to move up from Toyota but stay with a similar familar platform I cannot recommend Lexus enough for you!! I hope everything works great at your new Toyota dealer! I am a lube tech currently at my local Lexus dealer but we feel like more than just normal lubies we are also allowed to do more big jobs like brakes, alignments, differential services, large 30k services and smaller warranty jobs, when we are slow our team leader lets us work along with the main shop guys doing front covers, recalls and timing belts. I currently have one ASE and am working to get my second one once I have two I am able to move into the main shop and work as a full tech. You would be very surprised how often we get cars in that need serveral thousands of dollars in repairs and that we recommend to the customer and it all gets approved so the tech gets a nice big ticket to flag!! Not sure how common that is at Toyota but its crazy how many older customers we get in that just want their baby service and up to date. Its really weird that most of these repairs you would think would mostly be declined if it were a normal Toyota customer because of course because they're not as expensive as a Lexus, and its super easy to do because its just a fancy Toyota! I think in the future if you ever want to move from Toyota again I would HIGHLY recomend Lexus you will love it but first and foremost I really hope you enjoy your new Toyota dealer and that everythings goes great for you there!! We've had two Toyota master technicians move to our dealer in the past year and Toyota has recently made it easier for your credentials to cross over to Lexus now so if you become a Toyota master tech it's not as much of a hassle to move and automaticly become a Lexus master tech. Just a thought for the future and I wish you the best of luck Nick!!!

Man I'm 34 years old I drive a 2019 Mercedes C43 AMG facelift I moved out of my moms house at 22 years old bought my first house June of 2010 for $110k . Lived there for 8 years sold the home February 4th of 2019 for $226k so 116k profit from the FLIP. Took 20% of that so roughly $48k put down on new house for $248k Now living here for 5 years than will flip this one too til I reach my ultimate GOAL a $900k home. I love my car for sure it's not stock and the point of my comment is I've been in your shoes start with a little saved money up yes buy your first home invest into that home collect the equity save that up than sell.it when market is GREEN and than boom rinse recycle and repeat bro. It's not hard it's just time consuming and does take patience. God bless you bruh ! Great video excited to see how your house buying venture unfolds

Something to think about in the future if working at Toyota doesn’t work out. I left a Toyota dealer about a year ago to go for a large utility company working on their trucks and I couldn’t be happier. I have my weekends now, part of a Union, a lot better pay, hourly, i’m not just a number to management and no stress. Things may be different out there, (I live on the east coast) but may be worth looking into working on diesels, big trucks or some place that different that pays hourly.

Its tru about living close to work. I used to work at a dealer 40 minutes without traffic. Over an hour if there's traffic. When you got a family spending 8 hours at work and then an hour driving takes its tolls. So found a dealer from me 1 mile down the road takes me 5 minutes to get to work and its improved my life style and family life style.

Great video, doing it for the right causes. I didn't catch where you will be moving too, but Cali is getting rough. I know my job is taking away the double minimum contract by the end if this year and will be going down to $15/hour. Also, I'd like to see another raffle in the near future. Best wishes.

@@dabaydestrian437 my job has been known to get rid of certain positions (which terminates our contracts and lays us off and then gives us the option to re-apply). They did it a few times already for the service director and shop foreman. It's a loophole as long as no one has the title for 6 months.

I just saw your video on leaving Toyota yesterday. Now today I see you are leaving BMW lol. I enjoy your content as someone who is training in college as a tech. My goal is to learn to be proficient in fixing my own BMW’s/Range Rovers I purchase in the future. Keep up the good work and I know you will be successful.

Personally, I have worked as a oil change for about 8 months at a toyota dealership when I was 18. I didnt know anything about cars and that little gig gave me the courage to learn more and do more. Now, I personally own 2x e90 328i (one for the wife and one for me) and I have been fixing them. For the past 16 years, I have owned hondas, so I have a few experiences with timing belts, water pumps etc. Fixing BMWs is a another whole level. I just discovered ISTA. I have the program and someday when I have time, I'll mess around with it. On my wifes car, I bought it from a 3rd party dealership and it has hidden issues because it is a BMW. I'm taking the dealership to court. It needs around 12k worth of work according to the dealership. I have changed the water pump, thermostat, engine valve cover gaskets, the eccentric sensor, the eccentric sensor gasket, and the Valvetronic gasket, and spark plugs. Right now the car has issues with 56BF - clutch 1,2,3 and 4 neutral test, with 56c5 - shift vlave b. I suspect the check balls to have shrunk and gotten stuck on the plate. it is current at the BMW dealership to confirm. Fixing BMWs will bring you to another whole level to automechanics

Good luck with your move. I have not had very good experiences with BMW dealers when it comes to service. I am in the SF valley of Los Angeles and avoid all the dealers here. I found a euro mechanic I trust and that’s worth every penny

You'll never know unless you give it a go. Had you not made the move to BMW, the What Ifs might have always been pestering you in the back of your mind. Do your thing. And be thankful that you are in the position to make such decisions and moves. Lots of people find themselves stuck because they can't or simply won't make changes in their lives. Peace.

Good luck to you Nick Love your Channel and feel you are giving spot on advice to our younger guys. I know the feeling of having the mobility of a Common Car line I lived in LA and worked on Mercedes Benz for the first 13 years I come to find that there is only a Mercedes Benz dealer in major cities with affluent areas. Even the Mercedes dealer in the smaller towns like the one I worked at in San Luis Obispo were really SLO if you know what I mean, That got me interested In Nissan where I did 10 great years and no regrets at all. Became a Master working my way to the top of that food chain I've been Back with Mercedes for 3 years now and like it a lot however love the fact I have equity with both lines and can move wherever i want and turn and burn on day one. At the end of the day Mercedes has higher earning potential and Nissan offers more Mobility. Like You my hours were higher with Nissan Making the overall earnings a wash.

Bro I felt this. I live in the Bay Area and 500k will literally get you a shack. You can get a nice house for that money in the rural areas in Cali but at that point you might as well just move to another state.

A dollar and a dream my friend. You always want to progress, never be content and become comfortable where you are. Always wanna bounce around, climbing the ladder. I’m currently in the same dilemma. I want my own business, want my own place to call my own as well with a massive garage for my own pleasure. Takes time but hey, as long as the Dream is set in stone, making into reality will not be hard. You’ll face struggle but fight for the best outcome.
