I'm 18, in sixth form. Adults around me say that young people are starting to drink less, but that's not what it feels like. I have friends desperate to get drunk at events and I ask them why and they say 'just because'. I don't think I want to get involved in a substance that people are so foolish around. I'll find my own tribe of people.

Thank you for this insight. I'm F46, and I have never been a drinker - maybe once a month, I'd have something. However, over the past year and 3 months, I began drinking. It started with a couple shots every other night, then a few extra shots, and then it became every night. After one year, my muscles started cramping, and my performance went downhill. I was feeling so tired, and I look much older. Right now, I am 5 days sober, and today I finally started feeling better. I didn't realize that the effects would take so long to recover from.

I used to drink so much when I was a teenager and continued drinking till my mid 20s- not with the same frequency cause my self-development journey started when I was 18 .I think there's so much peer and social pressure especially on young people. I'm 30 now and I got to a point when I can go out and party without even drinking a sip of alchohol. I get frequently asked "Why don't you drink?" like it's something soooo bad. But I have to say I love the fact that I can go out and party and the next day still have an immense amount of energy to do things for me and be creative. Every day of our lives is important and we should use it to pursue our dreams and not recover from bad lifestyle choices

I just found your channel and I enjoy listening to your thoughts I’m a much older woman and have had a love hate relationship with alcohol from my 20’s started in college and worked in a bar and drank a lot. I was married to an alcoholic until he died a number of years ago when he first passed away I found myself actually drinking more because I could without a hassle. I then got to the point I would occasionally have a drink now I could care less about having a drink For me it was the realization I didn’t feel good later much as you described so it just was not worth it took me 76 years to figure it out You are a wise young man and I appreciate your thought on the subject

I'm in massive trouble. If I don't stop I'm a dead man. It's just insane. I have a perfect life and I'm wrecking it. Party party party. I really try to stop and make it about 5 days and then who knows when I'll stop again. Pathetic. Well done to you.

I was born in an eastern-european country. In that region it's considered normal to be an alcoholic. Drinking is built in the culture and almost everybody does it to some degree. There is always alcohol in every birthday, holiday, celebration. I had many people in my family who struggled with alcohol. In my twenties I often drank and it took a long while to realise that there is another way, a better way. I lived many years abroad, I got to know other cultures and I began a journey of yoga, mindfulness and healthy living. One important part of my daily routine is the consumption of herbal teas. I enjoy these way more than any alcoholic beverages. Nowdays very ocassionally I might have a cold beer on a hot summer evening, or sometimes an irish coffee and that's it. Drinking alcohol doesn't excite me anymore and I really want to be present and clear in my mind every moment. Happy new year David!

just found your channel and Im 72 in April and am going through this now.. Thing is I don't socialize but drink alone for the past 20 yrs. Drank most of my life but really don't enjoy it anymore but something compels me to have a beer nite once a week Just getting to the point where I don't like what Im doing but having a hard time not doing it. I told someone weeks ago I find myself doing it just to change up the week . Then like you said, I have to deal with the lack of wanting to do anything for 2/3 days and pissed at myself for doing it again. I use to have a wood shop and build shit. I use to hit the heavy bag every 2nd day but don't do nothing anymore. Don't know how to get out of it.. OK went on enough.. cheers

In my 20's I drank every single weekend. I guess I was a weekend alcoholic. Had my last drink at 40. It became boring and wasn't as cute as I grew older. I'm glad - life is easier - and I save a lot of money by not drinking. Cheers and Happy (calendar) New Year!

When teaching general equivalency diploma at Job Corps if a student accused me of being a drunk I’d fish my merchant mariner’s document out of my wallet and show it to them. I’d say not only am I a drunk but I’m a card carrying drunk. Then the other girls would laugh and say Mr. MEINZER is a sailor, he’s supposed to be an alcoholic.
