Hello, Raquel. This is the first time that I saw you. Thanks for sharing your story with us, we have a similar story. I feel that a doctor tried to force you to have a cochlear implant but you have own decision whether if you need a cochlear implant or stick with hearing aids. I am profoundly deaf since I was born and still wearing a BTE digital hearing aids but I have to say that the analog BTE hearing aids are far better than digital devices because it doesn't compress the sounds as you can able to identify all different type of sounds especially voices and also you can adjust the volumes. I am sad that the analog hearing aids are obsolete when I found out in early 2010 and will have to wear the digital hearing aids but lucky I told an audiologist to amplify it to mimic the analog sounds, it seems works. A cochlear implant won't work for me because it's digital sounds and probably difficult to amplify it, that's why I am not going to get it. Anyway, you have a good speech and would like to see your video. :)

Shahid Ali I grew up with a hearing family & friends that has no knowledge of sign language and I didn’t have any deaf people around me. When I lost my hearing, I couldn’t hear anything with my hearing aid and it wasn’t working. It made my lip reading much harder and really felt isolated because I couldn’t communicate anymore. A cochlear implant was the best decision due to my background. If I grew up around the deaf community, it might be different but it wasn’t the case. The doctor didn’t force me, he strongly suggested and it was my decision. Thank you! I’ll try do more videos, just need to find content!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, we have daughter with profound hearing loss on both ears she is 8 and we don't know should we go for the cochlear implants or should we wait don't know what really wait. Difficult choice the girl is too young to make her decision and we afraid of the surgery and maybe we just loosing time we just confused...

Your level-headed enthusiasm shows throughout and I hope you'll keep posting as I think you will be an inspiration to many who are struggling with the prospect of getting a CI, particularly younger people such as yourself. One question I do have is if there's a reason you cannot yet hear your dad... usually male voices are easier to hear.

Thank you! And the reason why I can't hear my dad yet is because before having a CI, with my hearing aid, I could only hear high pitched sounds meaning women voices were easier for me to hear and understand. My auditory nerve recognized women voices right away with a CI. Men voices I hear a bit, but it's really not clear and can't understand speech yet.
