I wired the ceiling fan per instructions red and blue wires together from the fan to the black wire coming out of the ceiling and the white wire from the ceiling fan to the white wire coming out from the ceiling and the green ground wire to the green ground my outlet box does not have a red wire for the dimmer switch just 3 black wires and a bare copper ground wire and 2 white wired tied together the dimmer switch is a Lutron fan control and dimmer with a two separate controls fan and light . the dimmer switch has a red, yellow, black and green wires How do I wire this ? Thanks!

I'm interested in installing retractable fans in my new build coming up. I like the style, but really wanting to control at wall. And EVERY of this type of fan is remote controlled. I'm looking into the best way and my options in hardwiring it.

Can the wireless remote controls fans be swapped for hardwired switches?

Hi, I would like to bypass the remote control module of my ceiling fan/light to be able to use a wall switch with 2 buttons (one to turn on the fan, and another to turn on the led light). From my ceiling I got 4 wires: fan-light-neutral-ground From the ceiling fan I have 5 wires: blue-white from the light, and black-red-white from the motor Please let me know how to attach them together to achieve what I want. TIA!

Hi, i got 4 ceiling fans that came with remote control modules. I asked my electrician to install them bypassing the remote control module because i wanted to control them just by the wall switch. Guess what? All of them burned! I need help on how to correctly wiring them. The electrician says that the capacitor is on the remote control module, and when it was removed, then the fan didnt had capacitor and got burned. Please help!!! I already got new motors as replacement, but still want to avoid the remote control modules.

Thanks! If you can talk about connecting a new ceiling light to existing wiring, where there is some extra wires, that'd be awesome.

Cool video. Does anyone know if I can work as an electrician on my own after getting a license in California? I heard one needs to have like 10 years of experience to be legal...???

The problem is my house doesn’t have switches for the fans and lights so I had to install remotes

That happened at my sisters house where they kept losing the remote because they have small children. So I do see the point of not having one.

I have three fans with remotes. The one in our bedroom is perfect cause we control it from our bedside stand and don’t have to get up to pull strings or switches…..we’ve had it for several years and it has been great. We also have two small ceiling bedrooms downstairs that needed low profile fans/lights. I had to get them with remotes to avoid strings dangling down. They work great but when you turn one fan or light on the other fan will respond and cancel the other fan or light on or off-it’s very annoying but I haven’t been able to come up with a solution. I’m a (fan) of remote fans only if there’s not one close by in another room . I’ve wired many fans in my home over the years and I really Like the remote fans and have never had an issue with bad remotes. The one that gets used the most is my bedroom fan remote and it has held up just fine….it’s a Home Depot brand fan, probably Hampton bay. I’m dividing a bedroom for my foster kids and I need two smaller blade fans but I’m getting pull string fans with LED lights…….I learned my lesson on close proximity remote controlled fans. By the way….my remote fans that cancel eachother out in the basement are identical so I’m not sure if that is the reason they cancel eachother out. I haven’t researched a solution yet.

Each fan controller and it's corresponding remote have a set of dip switches you can set to give them their own unique channel to prevent the interference you described. Make sure that each pair of controller and remote in a room are set to the same dip switch settings, but unique from all the other rooms. NOTE: Sounds like you're going to have to remove the canopies in one or more fans to set the dip switch settings to a unique configuration. Good luck!

🟢 Having too many remote controls is the shortest way to hypodynamia. It is so very good to leave your armchair for a moment and stretch up to the ceiling fan. Remote controls slowly, but steadily kill people.

My GE remote fan lasted 4 years before the remote receiver went out. Ill never buy a remote fan again. LEDs are shitty light and also the reliability of the remote control kinda sucked. Id rather do a Wifi Wall Switch on a regular fan.

🟢 Electronic equipment is not reliable at all. Large aircraft crash from time to time only because the electronics malfunctions. No wonder, that with the remote control one day you will have your fan hanging aimlessly from your ceiling. I personally prefer air conditioning, by the way.
