Why I do not recommend this bike 2022 Super Duke R Evo

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The KTM Super Duke R Evo is a motorcycle that I do not recommend! This is a motorcycle that will scare the living daylights out of some of the most experienced riders when it hits the torque curve.
2022 KTM Super Duke Evo full specs: It is a 1301cc liquid cooled, transverse 75° V Twin engine with 4 valves per cylinder and a DOHC belting out 180bhp at the crank and 140Nm of torque or 103 ftlbs. It weighs in at 199 kilos/437 lbs with all fluids. It does a 0-100 in under 2.9 seconds and hits a true top speed of 275kmph/170mph.

    Honestly, that's a super-savage video and title, that only certain Kawasaki's and KTM's deserve. 😄 And, I guess you're right. Most guys buying liter class go out and check, its got 180 bhp, cool, chequebook is out and they get a progressive kind of torque curve, which they get used to nice and easy. With this bike I guess, you check its 180 bhp, you ignore the torque figure considering its another one of those liters, and therein lies the surprise... combined with the light throttle feel I guess. Instead of 100 some NM, its got some 140NM, that too at lower revs. I've read somewhere, the torque is above 110NM at any point beyond 3500 rpm. Its madness. Is even a soft compound 200 section enough to control this beast? And how did they keep it below 200 kgs in Euro5/ BS6 era? Ducati could've done it, but now even KTM did it. Amazing.

    That is a super good comment. You are right. This bike is un-freaking-believable! And you can also get the ultra slick Battlax Racing R11 tyres for track use only. I can now only imagine, the logical step is to get the RC8 back. But of course, if they bring back the RC8, they will change the torque curve. I am pinning your comment.

    @@KrishnenduKes Ya of course, I meant the same engine, in a different tune. Of course, the torque is scary and cornering TC can do only so much before giving an unnatural feel. It could use both, a more progressive torque curve and maybe some power up there in the rev range. Let's see...

    Gotta say that I've had one of these for 5 years now and it's one of the most docile and chill naked bikes I've ever ridden. It has so many rider aids that you really have to be in over your head to get out of control. You can even ride it around on full traction control and rain power setting and its basically like riding an expensive sv650. I agree with what you are saying about it being dangerous if the rider is inexperienced and/or they have disabled some of the safety features. That being said, with all the safety measures engaged you can hammer this bike out of corners and it will just float the front wheel. I have a lot of performance mods, weightloss mods, and lower gearing on mine and I have never had an issue where I felt like the bike was too powerful to manage with the rider aids turned to the lowest settings. If anyone buys this bike I will caution you to make sure your tires are properly inflated and warmed up before you even consider turning the riders aids off or you will very quickly end on in a ditch or worse. Hope everyone stays safe out there and continues to enjoy the best hobby in the world.

    I completely agree. Funnily enough, your comparison to the SV650 really hits home because when I first Testrode the 1290R (more or less as a Joke) I had just gotten my license 6 months ago and was on my SV650. And I also thought "this is just a fancier version of my bike". Absolutely lovely machine that is almost telepathic. It always seems to know how you want to ride it at the moment

    I'm assuming that both you gentlemen bikers don't ride your Superduke in rush hour bumper to bumper, am I right? Of course, anything is manageable with a level head, there's no denying the role of the rider. But then, things happen to the most cautious riders too, like a sudden windblast saw me pulling the throttle more, due to the pushback... it happens. But let's be honest, we're talking about as much torque and slightly lesser power than a Hayabusa, in a bike weighing about 130 pounds lesser... Barring this and some top end Ducati's and maybe the supercharged H2, what else deserves the title of insane?

  • @howardfreedman4289

    @howardfreedman4289

    Жыл бұрын

    To Samarath, Just a little safety pointer. If being pulled back by wind or sudden acceleration make you open the throttle more, you're operating the throttle in the wrong and a very dangerous way. The throttle should not be grabbed from over the top. It should be grabbed by palm against the front and roll the wrist underneath, such that if you're thrown back for any reason, you'll be closing the throttle rather than opening it. I was taught that early in my motorcycling career. I hope it helps.

About reliability, that is something there are mixed opinions about. I know that an MT10, a comparable bike, you can actually ride forever. No it's not. There's a huge difference between the torque of a 1301cc V2 vs a 1103cc V4, and it's not even close. The V4S has a higher top speed and peak power but the SDR is like a 2 stroke motorcycle on steroid. It is faster off the line and jerkier than the V4S. The SDR has like 100ft/lb of torque at 8500rpm while the V4S is like 80ft/lb at 11500rpm. The big bore 4 cylinders are way more forgiving and much easier to ride than big bore 2 cylinders.

I tried the 1290 back to back with the Ducati streetfighter which I would classify as a bit dangerous for the road because you have to rev the engine to get the best performance from it & are doing insane speeds on the road....beautiful bike but too much for the road....Now on my 5th 1290.... had 2 gen1s & 2 gen 2s & this gen 3 is by far the best version.

The i said my friend bro its my dream bike ...he asked you want a ride and i said nah man i wouldn't be able to handle 180hp and why would someone just give me his bike ... He is a chill dude he goes to the guy and says buddy my friend is so hyped to see this bike he says its his dream bike can you let him ride ..... FAK MEE...that man so humbly said why not is all yours (he(rider) was a pakistani so am i)....... I hopped on....first gear ... Feeling the bike in my body fully connected and trembling ..... Saw a straight and gave 5-8% throttle and holy fuking fuk the amount of G that i experienced and the warp speed vision that i experienced for a split second till the straight street ended is priceless and never explainable...... From that day i have one thing in my mind .... I want to own this bike and rip the shit out of it ....... BTW .... I just bought (six months ago) the 2022 Duke 890. It must be the most agile bike on the market. The amount of power that my 890 has is incredible. I weigh 260 pounds and I’m 6 foot seven and live for agile motorcycles and tight rapid cornering. I cannot imagine the 1290‘s power, I picked the 890 because it will out corner the 1290 and roll through the corners with greater agility. However, I do want to 1290. However, I will be satisfied with the baby Taz. 😅😂🎉. Note, my bike weighs 404 pounds wet and if I lose the stock muffler and cat, my research shows I will lose 19 pounds plus the additional weight of the pipe and slip on which should bring me from 404 down to about 390 pounds wet. I had a Kawasaki 300 (2cylinder) and it weighed 360 pounds. I love KTM.
