Why I Didn't Get The Fujifilm X100V - Fujifilm X-E4 & X-E3 Comparison
I have owned the Fujifilm X-E3 for over 8 Months and really have been enjoying it as a pure Photography Camera. After replacing it with the Fujifilm X-E4 I found there are some things that are different between these two cameras and in this video I want to share these with you and tell you why I chose them over the Fujifilm X100V.
Hopefully this video will help to answer any questions you may have.
If you have any questions please put them in the comments and I will do my best to answer them.
Hope you enjoy this one!
Thanks for tuning in!

ive used other Fuji X bodies in the past, and everyone hates on the lack of dials and buttons on this camera but I love it. The Q menu is clutch and I shoot in aperture priority mode. I feel like the front dial is all I need to quickly adjust my ISO. Super minimal compact camera that I personally think is king for travel photography. I view it as a point and shoot with the ability to use any lens you want.

Yeah, and I understand why people don’t like this camera that much. It really is a camera for certain types of photographers.. On the X-E4 I wish they would’ve placed some of the buttons where they would make more sense and are easier to reach with your fingers but in the end I can make it happen and take photos so I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to it.

I've been using this camera for more a year now (X-E4) and i have to say this is a really great camera. Lot of ppl prefer the X-E3 for extra buttons and control, but i prefer the minimalistic look of the X-E4, plus if you know how to customize your menu and buttons, you don't really need those extra controls. But i have a question, for me it's one of the major drawback of the X-E4. When you use it at "waist level" with the screen turn down, when you're too close of the camera, the image flip in the other way, that's really annoying. I've done a lot of search on internet, this problem is known and there is no real solution. It's a feature added for the "Selfie mode" when you are suppose to flip over the screen. So you have to adapt and try to not wear the camera body too close of your chest, in the way the sensor dont detect to flip the image on the screen. Why i'm telling you this, i would like to know if you ever had this problem and if you have found a solution or tip for it. Until now, the only solution is to block the "little sensor in square shape" above the screen. PS : I'm sorry for my english, it's not my native language :)

Wow, sorry about the loss of your X-E3. I use that camera as part of a trilogy along with the X-T2 and X-pro2. All three cameras have the exact same sensor and processor so I pick my camera for the situation, small or large body for the lenses I expect to use. I have all the Q menus set up identically and get consistent results from all. I never looked at the X-E4 simply because of the missing buttons and dials. Don't want to alter my technique for just one body.

Yeah breaking was definitely a bummer but it was about to happen some day. I have been lucky with my camera gear for a long time. Couple years back thought about going with the X100V as my sole camera, but had to go with the X-E3 for lens versatility. I'm really glad I did. What started out as a journey looking for lightweight lenses instead, I've found I prefer larger lens for handling. I have my perfect kit now X-E3 w/ wood grip with Tamron 18-300, XF 16 1.4, Samyang 135 F2 (incredible lens), and a KamLan 50mm F1.1 II. At some point, will get the X-T5.

Thanks for your video. Great points you make. But I would never go from the X-E3 to the '4. If my X-E3 would break, I would go for a used X-E3. There are so many things that make the X-E4 just a bad camera for me..... 1. The auto switch. I use this often for candid shooting or when my family uses the camera. Makes life easier. 2. The focus mode dial on the front is gone. This is a bommer for me. I often change my focus mode, and having to go into a menu to do so, is a killer. And since there are far less costumizable (!) buttons, there is no way to get arround this. 3. Rear dial is missing. Wow,- wtf. This is a dial that I cant live without. And it has a click function to make it even more useable. 4. I dont need a flippy screen, that only makes the camera body bigger. 5. The thumb rest on the back of the X-E3 is awesome.... gives you just a nicer grip than an added thumbrest 6. The Q and AF-L bottums. Cant live without them. They are just a great way to stay fast and flexible. So to me the X-E4 will never become an option. I am happy for you, that your way of shooting can be done with an X-E4. I will keep my best friend for a long time still..... greetings from Denmark

When I shot with my X-Pro2 I often used manual focus. Fuji's focus assist and histograms makes it accurate and fun. I've since sold that camera and replaced it with a Canon R6. It takes nice pics, but it's boring, heavy, and not much fun. Plus it has a bundle of buttons and features I never use, so I sold it. Now I'm in the market for one of Fuji's rangefinder style cameras, but they are all discontinued. What's up with that Fuji? I'm sure there will be an X-100 update, but less sure about the Pro and E line. Would prefer the larger sensor and tilt LCD of the X-E4, but removing the focus selection dial and the rear command dial are deal breakers. Also, not sure where you got your prices, but used X-E4's are going for $1200 to $1400 and the X-E3 is around $800.

Hey, I brought an xe3 earlier this year but ended up buying the xe4. Apart from the ergonomics, there biggest and the most annoying thing I found about the xe3 was the custom profiles. You can add 7 profiles but you can only save 3 custom white balance shifts ( which is the main thing u need to get proper recipes), this means you would have to manually change the WB if the ones you saved don’t match with the other 4. I hope that makes sense. Anyway something to consider. If you only use 3 recipes then it’s fine. I ended up buying the xe4 for that reason, so each custom profile saves with its respective WBshift. I wish I knew this before buying the xe3. Need to sell mine, but for now just keeping it as a back up.

For the recipes I used on the xe3 it wasn’t that big of a deal for me because I mainly only used one or two at most three recipes. Most of the time I just use the recipe to get an idea what the final product of an image could look like Because I enjoy editing my raw files. :)

Right if you are more post editor then the xe3 will work fine. I switched form cannon for it was the first I used Fuji. I think in the end you do gravitate to a few recipes you like best, but they don’t work in all lighting conditions well is what I found. But either way still prefer the xe4. I just like to have the option haha. I believe that only the camera released with the xtrans 5 I think, (correct me if I am wrong) are the models you can save all 7 customs profiles with WB shift. Basically xe4, xt4, x100v etc…. But I would double check, not easy information to find. I’d check in the camera shop . Cheers

I used to have X-Pro 2, XE2s and X100f cameras for fun jobs and I use X-T3 and X-H1 cameras for my Technical, Commercial and Studio work. Because the three former cameras had fixed screens and no live view on an HDMI monitor I couldn’t use them on studio rigs. The X-E4 changes all of that as it has that brilliant multi-angle screen and will drive a big external monitor when used on an overhead studio rig for product and repro work. The trouble is though It’s so adaptable I now get it tied up with studio projects and can’t take it walkabout with the 16mm f/2.8, grip and thumb grip - darn it! Mine is silver with silver compact primes and I’m currently experimenting with a great little silver X-A3 with the new 28mm and 21mm TTArtisan optical viewfinders: $350 for a mint used X-A3 body is an absolute bargain (until the hipsters push the prices up)! 😂

That is a good point and interesting take. I also am not a fan of using a touchscreen. In my experience there are no options to set it to get to a certain setting fast as you would be able to do with customizable buttons. Your idea definitely makes sense though it would definitely be a way to make it more customizable.
