    Obviously I'm going to sponsor Carlos, this video is about why I didn't initially sponsor him. I genuinely didn't think he wanted to keep doing the sponsored thing, he left Braille, moved back home, and was wore tf out. But he was down, so I'm down. The video is literally just me praising his awesomeness for 10 minutes, thought that was clear 😂

    I had the opportunity to skate with Carlos in Utah last summer. I was at the park with my son and Carlos was such a nice dude. My son was trying to learn something on a ledge and Carlos came over and was waxing the ledge for him and just being super encouraging. He was playing skate against some local dudes and just being really awesome with everyone. Scooter kids were coming over to him and getting him to autograph their scooters lol. It was awesome. Great guy, hope things go well for you and the whole team.

    Interested to learn more about "the breakdown of his mind and body" that happened at Braille. I'm guessing it's because he had the most cajones there and he probably felt almost obligated to do some crazy stunts. I remember watching vids and whenever something sketchy would come up they'd say "Get Carlos to do it" or "Carlos will do it". Then it kind of just puts him into a position where he almost feels like he has to do it. Anyways, great vid. Can't wait to see the next one

    I'm affraid that can happen to Mogely, I enjoy watching Braille but Gabe seems to be a pushy boss sometimes and that can be a problem, he always wants the top skater to do the crazy sketchy stuff, and that really brokes them off. And I don't hate Gabe by any means but they should watch and keep close what they do to their skateboarders, you have uzi who is in the videos but he seems that he does not enjoy being in there anymore I think Aron's vision is very clear on what he wants to do but the past issues with their team can be a huge problem

    I've watched Carlos progress on NKA vids, and loved seeing him skate on Braille. He quickly became my favorite skater. After he left Braille, it was like a part of me died a bit. Carlos went into a little bit of detail on why he left. He was in a relationship, and he moved there, and things ended up not working out. When he was at Braille for that week, you could tell he wasn't himself. He tried to act like everything was fine, but you can just tell something wasn't right. Both by how he acted, and how he skated. Carlos was ALWAYS a very consistent skater. Yet, in that week at Braille, he was missing tricks that he normally never misses. He also wasn't trying hard in games of SKATE like he normally does. Carlos definitely falls a lot, because he takes a LOT of risks, but on the Braille Army video titled: "IMPOSSIBLE VARIAL KICKFLIP CHALLENGE! Ft. Carlos Lastra", you see the amount of falls he experiences. I wish nothing but the best for Carlos. Do what makes you happy man. If you're depressed, focus on nothing but yourself, and what makes you happy. Thanks for showing us more content/insight from Carlos, John. Great vid!

    Ghoulish Theories I heard a lot of things about why Carlos left. I don’t however, have any hard evidence other than what I’ve heard/read to back them up so I’m just going to say that as a disclaimer. Like you said he was the only one really trying at Braille and that meant if something sketchy had to be done they turned to him. If they needed a crazy trick for the video they turned to him. No one else was really trying anything or pushing themselves which I know from experience makes it really hard to push yourself. On top of that he took ALOT of punishments from the falls on the tricks they were essentially forcing him to do and apparently he wasn’t compensated properly for it. On top of all that I heard he was an alcoholic/recovering and the drug culture around the Braille house with Fetty, Uzi, Gabe, etc really didn’t help. Which is apparently why Nigel isn’t in their videos as much anymore. All in all he was pretty fed up with them and rightfully so which is probably why he looked visibly off returning there, and why he waited so long to do so.

  • @yashara2283

    @yashara2283

    4 жыл бұрын

    Dan Hersey that’s pretty crazy to hear about the drugs and drinking. Never took Carlos for that type of guy but makes sense. Also wasn’t aware of the drug culture @ Braille, besides seeing how they could all be pot heads since Gabe always looks high. But none of it is that far fetched. I could definitely see him getting burnt out tho by all the crazy skating and falls he did for Braille. He level was skating was way above the rest of them, with the exception of maybe Nigel, so he carried a lot of the videos and you could kinda see his disinterest towards the end.

  • @18ps3anos

    @18ps3anos

    4 жыл бұрын

    honestly tho, you can't say how carlos is or isn't consistent solely based on edited videos that you watch. You don't know how many cuts and edited-out scenes are used on his many videos, so you have no real way to measure his consistency. You could maybe see it on a game of skate, but not full-park tricks or challenges. The reason he seemed less consistent, could very well be because of the video editing, and not because he is distracted/disconnected. Give it a thought, the only thing we are exposed about these kids is post-production and adultered content

The watchers of braille will miss you carlos, I'm lucky anough to have met him in person while taking a lesson at braille back in 2018 and gotten a picture with him so now I can look apon the face of the real skate god carlos lastera as my phones background thank you for being you carlos. I know john is doing what's best for his company and I think he's doing well his team is pretty cool and full of hard workers. However I do wish he would reconsider later on in the future. Other than some of the other dudes already on the team carlos is the most hardworking passionate skater that I have ever seen, and quite desserving of being on the team. On top of his amazing skills and passion he has been put though the ringer If you listen to his story here and then put it with his story when he came back to braille for a week he has seen some S#!t and through it all the fact that he for lack of a better and less blunt term fallen into a depressed rut and took his own life is suprising. However here he is now still shreading however he is not quite as consistent and 'there' in general I think he lost somthing, a peice of him. We're here for you carlos.

    One thing always loved about the "youtube" side of skateboarding is the unity, passion and friendship you all show each other. Been watching alot of you for many years now and it was great discovering new skaters or channels through each of you and learning how you all know and support each other. Its Jonny G, Chris Chan and Braille that opened doors to pretty much every youtube skater within any of those social circles - thats alot. I admire it because in my country skaters rarely show that level of complete unity and support. Its alot of petty snaking and one upmanship, you go "yeah!" at a spot cos someone lands a sick trick and half the people look at you like "who are you?" I'd love to skate America. Your newer architecture is so much better too.

    He's big and deserve the recognition, he's a way too humble and it's crystal clear that he does not want to be famous and have that fancy lifestyle but he got to go to competitions and get the chance to be a Pro, he's the kind of person that require a team and people to push him, good luck for him and you guys, keep on rockin.

    Recently he appeared on Braille Skateboarding and seemed tired and depressed. But he tried a triple kickflip over a 3-block over and over again even if his ass was handed to him at each fall he endured. The guy is tougher than he looks, remember master Yoda : "Judge me by my size do you ?", that's why I like this man : he tries harder and harder, over and over again, no matter what
