I've got them all except a Fractal Axe and Headrush. I use the Ampero and a GT-1000 in my sets with an ABY pedal. I use Marco Fanton's Marshall preset pack exclusively. I love the presets that come with the Ampero. Both BOSS and Hotone have the best, "to me", sounding tube sounds of all of them "that I have". I keep a Valeton GP-100 in my gig bag as a backup. The Recto preset is pretty competitive to the Ampero. Really appreciate your channel and outlook and reviews/analysis. Thank you for all the hard work you put into the information you provide! thanks for the review and validating my purchase last month. I like the device a lot as well. I agree with your overall assessment of the unit, and of the tuner in particular; it stinks. I use mine as an effects pedal before the amp. I'd be interested in seeing future episodes how you maximize use of the pedal that way.

Had mine for about 6 months now. Paired it with a Two Notes Torpedo Cab M so I can have better IR features, extra EQ, reverb, and the Torpedo has power amp modeling with 4 different power amp tube types plus extra presence on the power amp section. Really love the sounds I get from it paired with the Torpedo Cab M. Ampero models sound great and most fx are very good. Ampero plus Torpedo Cab M total of $700. Feel of it playing is great and guitar volume dynamics or pick strength dynamics are pretty good. No regrets on the purchases.

Looks like a great tool for home recording. I'm a bassist, so I'm all set that way, but for demos and so on, this looks like a great piece of gear. I'm convinced.

Are you able to set the footswitches to 'manual' mode for switching individual amp/effects in the chain on/off? Also, can you set one footswitch to turn several amp/effects on/off at the same time within the chain? That's one of the features I love with my HD500X.

Great Video, can you save presets or patches in the computer? so you can save more than 99 patches somewhere else This unit is not a DAW, has a converter, so you can record your guitar into your DAW (Garage Band is a DAW) with the USB

hi, i have a question, so if we use the extra footswitch, can i assign the 4 footswitches on the unit to turn on or off different pedal ? or is it still 3 preset and 1 ctrl footswitch, and how about the wah pedal, does it uses one of the fx block or does it has its own block ?

I Busk, and trying to streamline my setup. I have a Powerworks Pa 50, I plan to use with. Trying to deside if this of a Mx5 is my choice. I have used a TC helicon voicelive play GTX , for many years, the vocals are great, but guitar sounds , looping and effects limited, So going to feed tc to ?? to PA on guitar line. Thanks Spike

Sir which one would you recommend ampero or pod go for live use as a total rig???

I recently purchased one of these units and I agree with you 100%, it sounds great. I also own a Stomp and the Ampero defiantly sounds a lot better imo, especially using high gain amps. Less tweaking is needed to get a great tone. I do not own a FRFR cab so I first ran the Ampero though the power section of a Marshall DSL (return loop), it sounded too bright and I wasn't impressed or able to get much low end response. Then I ran it through an Orange Pedal Baby power amp using a real 2x12 cab loaded with g12t75 speakers. Much better to say the least. This unit is very usable without a FRFR cab, a good power amp will do the job.

Would you recommend a way to use this with an orange tube amp? I was thinking through the FX loop but now I’m second guessing it. I have ableton live also, and could run it completely digital through.

does this sync to your DAWs BPM via midi so gtr loops stay in sync with daw live track?

Is there a any time delay/volume cut off/drop when switching between patches in a bank?

Two questions: does it allow you to preview/scroll through presets without changing? Do the delays gently trail off when switching patches or does it just abruptly cut off? Thanks.

Nice review. I have a Vox ToneLab EX multi effects and I love it. I use it mostly for clean tone (twin reverb and ac30 sim) with a small reverb and sometimes with a TS, for playing John Mayer, Hendrix and some jazz. Recently I'm turning a bit to Mateus Asato sound, with huge reverb and delay... lots of fun. I like this ToneLab but I'm thinking of switch it to a HoTone Ampero One. Do you think I'll get a better sound (for my type of music I play)? Thanks so much for your support

The Ampero has lots of great sounds in it. When you learn to use it fully it has alot to offer. I think you would like it very much!

Incredibly intuitive unit. I've never even seen a pedal other than on KZread. It took me 1 hour at the music store, to figure out how to work everything inside out.

Also if you watch some tone ocmparison, to me the hotone sounds better than the GE which sounds very dark. In a comparison video by Leo Gibson I tought the Ampero sounded better than headrush, hx stomp, mooer ge.

Yes you can send the left dry and the right with cab simulations on

Any chance you can do a video with the ampero and the line 6 power amp 112?

I've been shopping around for a decent compact modeler that's not gonna break the bank, and this seems to be right up my alley. How does it sound for DAW recording? Normally I've been using the TH3 VST which I love, but it sucks the life out my CPU.

I ended up getting the Headrush gigboard. No regrets.

Great video, very useful info. I know this is meant primarily for an ampless rig, but is it also capable of just serving as a pedalboard and controlling amp channels? So for example if I wanted to run this through my DSL40, and turn off the amps and cab sims, can I change the amp channels with the Ampero? Would like a unit that can be used with and without an amp.

Just use the footswitch that comes with the dsl40. This won't swap channels on the dsl

What is your opinion on me trying to use this with my bass. It was given to me and I'm very interested with the looper, phaser, envelope filter, chorus, delay, od, etc. Thank you in advance for your support and response, peace.

I think the unit would work really well with a bass especially if you use some custom IRs

So I literally just did all my homework on this, then I noticed you had a video on the same thing. I am new player, some cool guitars, small modeling amp, no pedals. I decided to skip buying a looper, an interface, tube amp, tons of pedals, and get loadable IRs. I decided that for me (lets call it dedicated beginner) this was the best choice.

@Joe Kickass Yes, but that had way more to do with me than the device. I just decided that if I stepped up to a Helix, I can get every tone I ever wanted + Helix effects and updates.

Have you tried the HX Stomp? If you have, how would you say it compares to the Ampero in terms of features, I/O, sound...?

Nicovo I thought it was limited due to its size and physical buttons. It was also more expensive.

Cool unit . Lot's of features

I purchased the Ampero last year and was not a fan from the git go. To each his own but I could not get a tone that just really turned me on? Sold it after a week of steady tweaking trying to find my God tone with different amps and IR's. Couldn't find it? I have had just about every modeler since the original Scholz Rockman came out when I was a teenager, then the original POD Bean and so on! For years I settled down with the POD X3 Live, and HD500 running direct for live use, then I started purchasing other units (Mooer Ge200, Boss GT-1000, Ampero), My last being the Kemper Stage, which sounds great but is WAY WAY too much money for what it is. Used it for a few months and sold it! I have finally found a unit that does what I like and I totally love everything about it, and that is the HX Stomp! Simple and sounds stupid incredible! God Tones can be had with every amp in it!!! Spend the extra cash and get yourself an HX Stomp and be done with it! It is a Bad@$$ little dude!!!

rantnpod I haven’t experienced any hiss but, I’m not into too much high gain stuff as far as extreme metal. I absolutely love the Friedman tones on the Stomp, which you can get really dirty and chuggy, and have no problems with hiss at all!

Hi man, great video. I still can't decide between this and the Mooer ge200, maybe you can help. I have two questions: on Ampero, can you decide signal chain Order like you do on Mooer? On the ge200 the order of pedals is fully configurable. Second question is: about the touch panel, is it responsive? I've seen lot of video, and I saw very often people touching two or three times on the same button on the screen, like it was not so sensitive. What can you say about it? Thanks man!

can anyone help me? my hotone ampero quality is so different when i listen to it in the DAW vs directly connecting it to the headphones directly

I turn on the pedalboard, I turn on the computer, when I access KZread, the audio goes from the pedalboard to the audio monitors, however when I connect the mouse or USB keyboard the audio stops coming out. Others users in the groups also reported having the same problem.

I really am enjoying mine. Way better and more flexible than a cerberus or a red truck in my opinion.

A new update version with global EQ and greatly optimized tuner is on the way. I believe it will be released within two weeks.

You can join the facebook page and get some there. People share all the time.

The auto wah and hamonizer effect introduce a lot of artifacts, crackles/pops into the sound. This unit is trying to do things it just does not have the processing power to do properly

so one problem I am having with the Ampero is when I click on a patch the software shuts down. You ever have that problem?

It sounds really good. Now that they have incorporated a global eq in the firmware update it should sound even better!

try out loading ir's ! this can improove the sound a lot. some effects do not sound great, be careful with the delay. if you do it right, it sounds quite good.

Flat Response Full Range speaker. What you hear from the Ampero is what you get from the speaker. No additional color.

I think as far as the sounds go it is identical. I haven't tied the Ampero One yet but I hope to do so soon.

How can you mess it up when you're carrying it in your bag? Power won't be plugged in.

Thank you for the review. It's a very good device but unfortunately it's expensive in my country (Italy). It costs ~ 390,00€ (430 $) on amazon. So I'll stick with my cheap zoom g1on, for now.

At the moment we are locked in our houses, we can go out just for going to the grocery store/drugstore and walking out the dog. Running and strolling outside are forbidden. The companies not defined as essential companies at the moment are closed and the workers do smart-working at home. It's very difficult to get the masks. It's a very bad situation. About your question I can tell you that here dead people are mainly older people with pre-existing diseases, indeed there are just few cases of deaths among young people. I can assure you I haven't seen a so aggressive/contagious virus in my life until now. For this reason I am worried not so much for myself but for my elderly relatives that I enter in contact with. Unfortunately we have so many positive cases about covid-19 and so few beds in intensive care that people are hospitalized when they get critical respiratory conditions. So, many people with no serious problems get cured at home and other get worst at home until death. -The primary reason we have so many deaths here is because there have been cuts in the costs of our healthcare system ~ 37billion euros from 10 years now, with less than 70'000 beds in our hospitals. -The second reason is because here they do the covid-19 test just on symptomatic people (not the asymptomatic people) and it is difficult find a great amount of safety devices (masks) We are also disappointed with our government too. The government initially has underestimated the problem wasting precious time.

Can I put an external footswitch for the banks?

Some people claim that Ampero is great for its preamp section, but horrible for effects. The reverb, in particular, is heavily criticized. What is your opinion on the effects quality ?

I don't think they are that lacking unless you over do it.

So this can not really be used as a "just multi effects" in front of an amp or in a fx loop? =(

Yes it can

The “idea” of multi effects units is very compelling but I would strongly urge people to consider whether they want to dig through menu systems to tweak parameters. Some are okay with that but many want direct access to twiddling knobs directly. These systems are great bang for the buck, but if you are selling them a week later...not so much.

Indeed they are not for everyone. I'm my opinion if you like to have many options at your disposal without spending too much money then a multi-effects unit is a great value.

I like both. I use an atomic firebox which has normal amp knobs only. But Plug it into the pc & you can tweak away.

I hope hotone would home out with a hx effects equivalent. Or put an fx loop on the ampero.

I really like the amp sounds on this but, I pretty much feel that way about most of the units in this price range at this point. It seems like this can do the lower gain stuff really well, where as the mooer stuff does high gain pretty well, and then line 6 has decent amps that can be customized a lot, as well as has a lot of good effects. I opted for a hx stomp initially when it came out but, a lot of these rival it some of the sound aspects but, they were just not available at the time. The flexibility of the stomp though I feel is unrivaled because there are some really deep options for routing and pedalboard setups. I feel like for what I’m into now the stomp was the perfect option.

The harmonizer is terrible. Has a lot of lag when just hearing the pitch shifted sound. Is this something that could be fixed or just beyond this unit's capabilities?

They updated the tuner with the new firmware. Its a little better.

Here in the U.K. the average price is £350 about $435, that is a high price for your average player, too close to a good combo ie Boss Katana.

I agree that they are not that great but I don't use them much. You can always connect a real wah if you want better.

Technically, you can. If you really don't plan to use the amp /cab simulations, then there might be better options out there for the price.

Your advice on FRFR is totally wrong. Why you need a full range unit for guitar. No less Than Michael britt agrees and post video to proof. The fact you need more than 99 patches says it all. Doesn't matter how great the features are if the sounds aren't there.
