LOVE your videos! Just got the IC4 and while it’s not hard to put together, the whole wonky thing where the adjustment levers pull down was nowhere in the instructions. Used your videos for building it, connecting to Peloton app, and making adjustments for the computer. Much grattitude!

I actually just got rid of my fancy bike that syncs to a service that changes with the terrain. It would literally tilt up or down in addition to changing resistance. It was too tough sometimes. I was constantly making manual adjustments and not “following the trainer”. I go between zwift, apple+, and vzfit (with oculus VR headset). That one is really cool it has both games and real road footage where you ride with a trainer that pushes you and it’s all around you. Good luck on your weight loss journey! The decision to change is the toughest part!

I put an old road bike on a smart trainer. Works great with the Peleton app, works great with Zwift, works great with Rouvy, Trainer Road etc. In addition to having automatic resistance, I can also control the resistance manually through a phone app or through my bike computer. I had to upgrade my groupset to an 11 speed cassette so it would work optimally on the Wahoo Kickr Core smart trainer. This seems like the best solution to me.

I watched some of your other videos before I bought the IC8 (UK version of IC4). The biggest thing I'm seeing with the resistance is that my knob turns 4 times from the low end to go from 0 to 100 but then continue to turn 5 more times.... and according to the service manual the resistance should be set from one quarter turn from the low end as 1% to one quarter turn from the high end as 100. It can be recalibrated though... but only 3 times by the users and then you're stuck... so I'm not feeling comfortable doing it. As for Zwift, I'm 3 days and around 50 miles in and I see what you mean.... looking at the gradient changes of the route and then reactively changing the resistance does seem a lot of effort and theres nothing that tells you what to turn up to... I personally dont mind the gaming style setup but I'll ride out the free trial and then check out Peloton. I definitely want what you want too though - just a fat man trying to lose some weight and I'd rather it be in a class. Appreciate you making this video!

LOL fat man here too trying to lose some weight. I suggest checking out Apple Fitness+.....I actually cancelled my Peloton App because I use Apple Fitness+ for both my IC4 and magnetic resistance rowing machine. With that said, Peloton App is great too! Just keep in mind that Peloton App (at least currently) references Peloton bike resistance levels and you'll have to train your brain to know the IC4 resistance equivalent. The Apple Fitness+ App simply references RPM and that's the top bar on the IC4's computer's display...SUPER SIMPLE! Best of luck, with your fitness goals!

I just got into Zwift 4 weeks ago, friends have been doing it for a couple f years, but I just didn't get it as I love cycling outdoors so much. Although I do always stop October to March due to Winter and poor weather. I always lose all the hard work I've gained and put a stone on every year, very annoying. I bought the Wahoo Kickr V5 smart trainer and bought a second hand bike and put his on as didn't wan't to put my outdoor road bike on as didn't want to mess around taking it on and off. I have to say, I'm totally addicted, I love it so much, the group rides, pacing and i love climbing outdoors so loving all the mountain climbs. I'm starting to think I love it more than outdoor cycling now as it's just so simple to get the workout you want that day. Would highly recommend this set up, I don't think I would have been so into it, if the smart trainer didn't change gradient and resistance, so it's as near to the real thing as you will get. Money well spent in my opinion.

Unfortunately for the real zwift experience your bike really isn't designed for it. It needs to be app controlled for resistance and gradient. The resistance knob just doesn't work in zwift especially if riding with others on smart trainers. At least you're happy with peloton and can make use of it. Maybe one day you'll get a roadbike and smart trainer.

Yes, Apple Fitness+ adds new cycling workouts frequently and has multiple cycling coaches, all with different riding styles. The video and audio quality are both exceptional too. It keeps me going because if I watch KZread or TV while cycling I may get off of the bike when the show ends. With Apple Fitness+, I ride until the ride has ended. Even better, there are a variety of different ride durations so it’s easy to schedule a specified amount of time for your cycling workout. I love to eat good food and drink good beverages. This has enabled me to counteract that :)

@@IrixGuy ty again I REALLY appreciate your feed back :) I am questioning why all over the internet that the Schwinn IC4 is advertised that it works with Swift :) it does not at all actually. This is the most recent response I received from Swift " While Zwift is designed, primarily, to work with road bikes coupled with trainers, there are several indoor bikes that we support as well. At this time, we're only able to support equipment with sensors that broadcast data over ANT+ or BLE technology, using open standards. You can see which stationary bikes we support in our . While it looks like this bike either isn't supported, or we've not yet tested it, you should be able to make it work if you can replace the cranks or pedals with a power meter. In most cases, using speed and cadence sensors (traditionally put on road bikes) won't work, as there's either not a spot to mount them, or they're inaccurate, due to the size of the flywheel. For the best experience in Zwift, we highly recommend you take a look at our for a list of Zwift-compatible equipment or check out our . If you don't have the right equipment yet, you can still watch the live action in Zwift and root other riders on by giving them "Ride Ons!" as they steal a jersey or post impressive efforts! Check out our on how you can Just Watch. If there's anything else we can help you with, please let us know."

@@IrixGuy wow cool. My goal is the same as yours weight loss. But i realise competing with others motivates me loads. the downside to having an IC4 spin bike is your not on the leaderboard with peloton plus you have to guess your resistence. But I do like christine the instructor and enjoy the music. Its still a good workout and achives my goal saving thousands $$ With zwift having a road bike on a turbo trainder you would probably get a more realistic feel when going up and down hills. plus the speed and power are probably more accurate. But again its more money. I can still use both apps for fairly cheap on my IC4 with a wahoo speed and cedence sensor only.
