Yeah it would have been a fun car. But I just couldn’t see dropping the money on a car I wasn’t 100% into. I’d want the Nismo the whole time. Supra is such a good car!

I bought a 2017 Nismo because of your reviews, and passion.. pearl white.. drew attention wherever it went. Absolutely an amazing, old school performance ride.. demanded focus on the open, sharp winding roads and hills i run on.... strap in, and hold on.. paid $30,000 with 12,000 on OD. I, too, watched the Z reincarnation.. thinking that if it all came together as rumored, I'd jump in... and with the nismo .. the wait became too long, disappointing because there was no Nismo version coming anytime soon, so what's the purpose? Sold my Z 3 years later with 24k OD.. got $30gs for the trade.. bought an LC 500 for that v8 sound and performance.. broke the bank, but ya only live once, eh?.. thanks for that Z Nismo ride, Bros

I’m a Nissan fanboy, and I know the Supra is a faster car, and because of that, a better sports car. The Supra is better in almost every measure. Probably the Z wins at ride comfort, and at being a “true” Japanese sports car. The Supra is like 90% BMW. Engine, chassis, transmission, infotainment and electronics. It is even manufactured in the same plant other BMW’s come out in Austria. Still a better car than the Z. And nowadays people don’t care if it’s a true Japanese sports car or not. It wouldn’t matter to me certainly. With all of that said, the Z still a hella fast car. It’s fast stock, it looks good incredible, it has a lot of tuning potential. Rides better, more comfortable, I like the interior layout better than the Supra (I wish the Z had some carbon fiber tho), and other things that I prefer. I ain’t no race driver nor I want to be, so if the Supra is a second faster than the Z I don’t care.

Yeah i personally don’t care 1 bit about the Supra being a bmw. I know that’s why it’s such a good car that exceeded expectations. If the Supra was all Toyota it’s be the same as a Z. And it would not be so refined and tight feeling. Z has more room and is a good lower price alternative. But when it came closer to dropping this kind of money. Supra was so worth the $6k

Nissan Z32 has German KKK Turbos. So the new Z probably has German turbos also. Nissan also uses Mitsubishi parts, and they're partners with Renalt today and could use Renalt parts on the new Z. The Supra is a failure, because Toyota could of reused the 2JZ short block, and made a new direct port injected head to go on it to pass new emissions. New engines have fuel sprayed directly into the cylinder and older engines don't. BMW engines suck. Why do you think a V8 BMW sells for $3,500, because the engines are junk. BMW are always at import mechanic shops. Some are in the shop 3-6 times a year. Jaguar and BMW are always breaking down, and doctors love them.

To be honest, Toyota and BMW are literally the top 2 most reliable brands as of the last few years. The BMW B58 is a rock solid reliable motor. It's been proven over the last 4 model years. So anything you think about BMW from the past is wrong. Toyota would have spent millions to develop a Supra from scratch. It just wouldnt make sense. Low volume sportscar don't make manufactures any money, so it'd be a losing deal for them to build a Supra. This car is so good because of the BMW intervention. And now that Toyota has invested into BMW, BMW is a rock solid reliable brand. Pre 2020 BMW's yeah, not the best. Get with the times

I think B58 engine hit the sweet spot of fun and full power usability.

We actually had a new M2 for a week! Couldnt race them since BMW owned the M2 lol. But off the line to 60 they are identical. After that the M2 pulls a bit. Maybe one day the S58 will be in a Supra!

Can you make a video on tips and tricks on buying this type of cars from dealers ? maybe your thought process so someone new to the dealers shark tank can learn . thanks in advance .

@@jz7551 I’m not a Nissan fanboy but I’ve owned the GT-R, Maxima and 370Z. I think you need to drive the Supra before you come to the conclusions you’re coming to. For me the new Z felt like more of a step sideways than a step forward. It certainly does not ride better than the Supra, and although the interior layout is busier the quality is not better. When it comes to comfort, they’re both comfortable, but driving the Z hard is definitely not comfortable compared to the supra. The z is fast and the VR30 is a great engine, but the car needs a lot of work once to make it a competent sports car. You’re looking at 5K + in mods just to make it drive like it should. I dropped my deposit on the Z after I drove it back to back with a manual Supra (had a deposit on both). They don’t even feel like they’re in the same league.

The bigger question is whether it's worth paying 10 to 20k more and getting a C8, or 10k less and a Camaro SS 1LE. For me it would depend on which one is more fun to drive. This thing is a winner sounds like.

Good question! C8 is much more exotic looking and handles amazing! But tuning the Supra will make it faster and you get a manual. SS 1LE is a great muscle car and one of the best! But Supra will still handle better and be faster after a basic tune. Really depends on what car you enjoy most. Personally I’d go Supra. Just more my taste clearly lol

I've had terrible issues with my C7. Never going back to Chevrolet. To each their own. The new c8 has many mechanical issues. Far less in the Supra and current BMW funny enough.

It’s a fine car. Just not all to amazing for a new car. It’s basically a 370z with new tech and a powerful engine. They seem to be holding so much back for the Nismo. Supra is just so good!

Man, I'm jealous. I've been trying to get a Z, but not willing to pay the stupid amount dealers are asking. Only got a "good" offer of 4.5 over sticker for a proto a/t, but still didn't go for it. Looking at the supra 3.0 m/t and there's very limited availability and putting in the legwork to see who is willing to let go of the car for just the sticker price. Question, if you don't mind me asking, which dealer did you get yours from?

Yeah definilty not worth 4.5 over on an auto Z! That transmission isnt close to the ZF 8 spd. You'll find a MT Supra at some point for msrp. People are paying sticker for these and dealers are just trying. They won't get it tho. I went through Toyota South East, and they sent it to Flow Auto Group since that was my local dealer. Just keep bugging every MT you see available still a dealer gets to MSRP

Yeah I think $6k in mods on the Z, it’d be faster for sure. Probably would handle maybe as good. But it still wouldn’t be as refined. $6k in mods of course would just take it up to being back to better then the Z. If $60k is your absolute max budget and you want to mod the car. Get the Z for sure. But the Supra is so good stock, it’s well worth the price increase to have a better car

I guess there is a difference when your driving a free car talking about buying one when you are just looking at price on paper. When it came time to spend my money on it. Supra is well worth it and you get a whole lot more car for not much more. Z is still a $6k cheaper option for people who are super tight on not going to $60k I guess

My plan when I sold my white Supra was to buy a manual car. At that time the manual Supra wasn't unveiled. But in the 18 months of waiting for the Z, I got to drive several Supras and Z's. Loving the Supra!

I had a 2022 Supra and ended up selling it when the market was still hot. The car was awesome and I deeply regret selling it. But I did find it little bit hard to get in and out of. Also overall I felt at time the car was little uncomfortable. The Supra is a better performance car, but I would be interested in trying out a Z. Might be a better fit for me.

Yeah I sold my 2020 at the peak of the market. Actually sold it for about what I paid for this! Z is a bit larger on the inside and more relaxed. Easier to get into and has much more storage. Certainly not has refined as the Supra, and isnt as good in the handling. But it has a good GT vibe for more of a normal car. Definitely check one out!

They'll all be about the same. Thats what people said about the launch edition, and A91 edition, and of course now the MT A91. None have any real improvement other then style packages. But the MT 91 will certainly hold a few grand over this just like the MSRP is over this. But I think manuals in general will hold good value as they are all low production. If they make a high performance special edition with e twin turbo motor, that'll hold some serious value! But not the cosmetic upgraded cars.

I owned many cars and change my auto supra for a manual hellcat, worst decision I've taken, the supra handled better and was more fun to drive, now that they offer them in manual I wanna get one, enjoy your new supra man, are we gonna see some mods on it soon?Thanks for staying humble and reply to all the comments!👍

Oh wow! Yeah that's a huge car to get into from the Supra! I find those Hellcats feel so slow because they weigh so much and get no traction. Hopefully you can track down a manual Supra! One of the best manual cars I've ever driven!

Yeah the Supra is just a car that beats everything at it's price. So much fun! Hopefully the Nismo Z gives this a run!

I ended up doing a similar thing. I had a Z32 (my childhood favorite car) and obviously the new Z was on my list. Between shitty dealership and salesman, and re-assessing my needs and wants I realized the Z was no longer an option. I currently have a 2023 m4 being built (just hit Paint Booth). Got it for MSRP as well. The amount I would have to spend on a Z to get it even near an m4 would put it over the price of an m4! and I still would have an old platform, only 2 seats, and a super modded out car that wouldn't have translated to its true value. EXCELLENT MOVE! B58 and S58 are excellent motors. Toyota gave the co-sign so that's good enough for me

Oh cool! M4 is one of my favorite cars! You’re going to love everything about it! I’m thinking of an M2 years down the road. Love what they are doing with the M cars

I like the older Z’s, so I got the Z32. With all the new emissions regulations, cars are heavy and hard to work on. Try to get the downpipes off the new Z, which is actually just the platform from a 370z. I’ll stick with my 300zx for now. Toyota has always had more money behind their designs and Nissan has always been the cheaper option, with more part interchangeability. In a few decades though, it will be hard to find parts for the mk5 Supra based on how many parts cars might be around and how many of these cars sold vs their Nissan competition.

I will say the B58 is in a ton of BMW's. So it's a super common engine and there are definitely way more B58 cars then Nissan/Infinitis with that new TT engine. So I don't think there will be issues sorting parts on the B58

I try to buy a 2023 supra manual, saw the car online for $58k. Email the dealership in the morning they told me it’s $59k and couple hours later told me someone coming to look at it. In the evening saw the price online jump to $64k. WTH the dealership trying to do? I’ll never going to get one at msrp

So after the weekend no one bought the supra so I told them I’m still interested but will only pay msrp. Dealership agree to sell to me at the original price they listed so I flew down South Carolina and drove the supra all the way back to Wisconsin in one day. I’m happily can say I’m a GR supra owner now

To be honest, it's hot on the heal! Stock this is obviously not as loud or fast. But I've seen these tuned and making about 500WHP on E85. So I think once this gets to that level, it'll be just as fun! The manual totally added so much fun factor and I'm blown away with how good it is to drive. I don't think I'll miss the GTR as much when it sells since this is so fun. Probably be a different story if I had bought the Z lol.

Yeah I think the Z is for buyers who are just wanting more of a GT sportscar and aren't going to drive the car as hard. And also might be more price sensitive to hitting the $60k mark. So it has a place in the market, but really lacking the extra performance like the Supra.

Lol why? This video was specifically discussing why I canceled the Z for the Supra. Only way to show both brands in the video was to do it in the parking lot. I filmed it on a Sunday so nobody was there

The Supra is better in very category relating to fun factor. Z is better in practical categories. At the end of the day I wanted a fun car. So the Supra was better. But that’s why I showed clips in the beginning. Ive pointed out the positives of the Z. But as shown in this video. I said multiple times the Z is a bit soft and the Nismo would be the one I want. So don’t take what Ive said out of context. Ive pointed out the good and bad and ultimately bought the better sportscar

Yeah it's just better all around for not much more money. Just couldnt justify the price on the Z with it missing so much

I hate the fact I’m the “old guy” in the room no matter where the room is, but oh well…. I’m old enough to remember when it was called the Celica Supra😂!! What continues to baffle me is how nobody who has reviewed the new “Supra” and gushed all over it hasn’t done the same gushing over the BMW Z coupe on which it’s based. I just don’t get how putting a Toyota badge on a car magically transforms it into some sports car masterpiece that the car with the BMW badge wasn’t, apparently. Just my opinion.

It's not a car thats on our radar. The MK4 Supra was a car we looked up too growing up in the 90's and early 2000's. So for my generation at least, the Supra name and modern BMW cars are something we all really like. A lot of us our M car fans of the current era. So the Supra takes that JDM name and the modern M car and combines to be a perfect sportscar. Toyota and BMW did just as much work developing this car. Toyota even owns 10% of BMW now, and thats why BMW is top in reliably with Toyota lately. So this is just a perfect blend of two great platforms.

Things I don’t like with the Supra is the fake vents, exterior too busy looking, overall looks of the interior, and no android auto!!! I am actually thinking of a slightly different path - a Lexus RC350. Except for the track pad, it looks sharp inside and out and comes with vented seats that I wish the Z had. It may be a small thing, but in the summer I use it a lot with my Mazda 6 carbon edition. I don’t care about heated seats. Never used them, even when I had a Miata.

Yeah the fake vents are dumb. But it does have functional break ducts up front. How the car drives is what sold me on it. And I’m so impressed with the manual. Better shifter then the Z which I wasn’t expecting

Thats easy. Because the Z, while better looking is an overpriced underperforming car which its dealers are making even more overpriced. Hopefully the NISMO will be better. And not 100k.

Yeah it just didn’t have the wow factor for the price. If it was $45k I would have bought it. But the jump in price to the Supra was just so worth it. Excited for the nismo

It’s a BMW, Z4 in disguise not a true “ Japanese” make, so for that reason I opted out of the Supra, it’s not an original, so I call “ foul” on Toyota for not being true to the Japanese heritage, if I wanted a German make I would buy a BMW, if I want a true Japanese make of a “classic” heritage car with a great history I would buy the “Zed”, which I did. Not hating the Supra but it’s not a true “Homage” to the Supra or Toyota. True enough the NISMO will be there “Premium” ZED, but 400HP under $60K it’s a no brained plus with Mod possibilities it will turn out to be much better than the Toyota “BMW”. As far a longevity, the Zed re-iteration will be of much more value in 20yrs because of its “rebirth” into the market. When you make investments your in it for the “long game” rather than the “short” sell and this I know from experience. Enjoy your Supra.

To be honest, the fact that this is BMW is why it's so good. I like BMW cars and the Supra gives you all the refinements of a German car but with Toyota in it. BMW and Toyota worked together to develop the Supra and Z4 and when you drive them back to back, they drive much differently. This is every bit of a Toyota as it is BMW and to me its a perfect blend. I love it and other owners seem to like it too. Nissan Z is cheap feeling and doesn't handle the turns like this and for only $5k less in a similar spec, it just wasn't worth buying. Supra drives better, is more comfortable, has better tech, better manual, faster and more refined interior. It's just a better car. I couldnt care any less which car is true 'Japanese'. The origin of the car doesnt translate to any driving attributes. And the Z will drop in value as the market levels out. The Supra in manual will hold stronger. We are already seeing that as the Supra becomes more desirable and more and more people are skipping the Z and seem to buy a Supra instead

@@BrosFOURRSpeed again driver preference, I understand and agree BMW makes great cars, but they are GERMAN not JAPANESE, so theirs going to be an overall difference to everything, I own a Mini Countryman All 4S, and in the past owned an A4 Quattro RS (98), and yes they are remarkable cars, but in my opinion you don’t compare “ apples to oranges”. I’ve raced GT 3 Aston Martins on the Yas Marina Track in Abu Dhabi and in the same motion, have drivin GT2 Corvettes on the same track, and I would never say they are the same, nor would I compare the 2, they are two totally different cars with different physics, so the same applies here. If we are going to compare them, based on price points, then why not compare the Supra to the Porsche, or the Hellcat, or ZL1? To be “honest” that how it should be done based of your review. Compare “manufacturer v manufacturer” with no “collaborations”(brand) because then you are tipping the scales and getting the best of both worlds when is being true to its origin and “I” don’t feel that’s a fair assessment. It falls under a “Hybrid” of sorts, it like if Lambo and Ferrari made a car, it gets the best of both worlds and it wouldn’t be fair, so what would you call it? Would it be a “Lambo” or would it be a “Ferrari “ how/where do you differentiate the two? Perplexing isn’t it? Again no hate on you or the Toyota, I’ve been a fan of the Mark IV since High school as well the rarely seen “Celica-Supra”, but this comparison is not fair or just, to all reviewers who are doing this, you must appreciate what Nissan has done and brought back to life, it’s the heritage and the namesake of Nissan and what the and “Zed” has done and how it changed the industry when it was stagnant in 1969, it was and still is a “trailblazer” for not only the foreign automotive industry but the entire automotive world. Again I understand that this a “job” for you and I appreciate your commentary but coming from a true “Z” enthusiast as well as driver all I ask is that if you haven’t done the research on the car from inception in 1969 and to where and what Nissan has done over the decades can you truly understand and appreciate the technology, workmanship, and dedication of love that car has to offer? The problem with the “Younger” Generations is that patience is waning, it’s all about “instant gratification”, “Rome was not built in day” and one must appreciate all things that are set before them or one could actually miss out one’s treasure. My “Zed” is the blue Performance Trim, I opted for the “automatic” due to age and a bad left knee, and, yes, I know it not perfect but it is original to its namesake inside and out(owned and still have my 240), and it is like a Phoenix rising from the flames only to get stronger in time. Again not hating, just having conversation, enjoy the Supra as I am sure it is a spectacular “German” make😄. Peace be with you

It not 55k right now for z lol Real Supra 1990-1998 was 320 horsepower and slower then z and knock off zupra it all about after market parts and real Japanese motors not about stock Cars Nissan keep way all good stuff down low Potential of there motors and Hidden horsepower in motors just keep lot to after market parts Nissan skyline R34 keep way from usa market just they keep stuff on USA market but it what u can do when Super them up will all Ability aftermarket parts like Nissan is real daddy Japanese sports cars Nissan R390!!

But these cars are the only two in this segment and cost nearly identical. A base manual Supra has a lot of the tech features of a Performance Z and costs about the same. My Premium was $6k more then the Z would have been. Anyone who can afford a Z Performance can buy a Supra too. So these are very well worth comparing. If I was comparing the Sport Z at $40k to this, obviously thats not fair. Same if I compared the 4cyl Supra to a Z Performance. But my Supra and Z Performance are competitor cars. People are cross shopping these especially when they cost so similar.
