Sounds like completely altered language than "Galatians: 7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? *8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you"* Also, Galatians written 20 years prior to Acts. Acts was when Paul was shamefully and embarrassingly admonished by the 12 Apostles. He had to shave his head and take a Nazarite Vow to follow the Law and teach the Law. Galatians was likely written by the NEWB Paul, not the Admonished learned one. Paul had the fire for the faith, it just slide into the antinomian heresy, and he recanted at that vow. Paul's writing is a NEWB stepping stone, a training wheel. But if you are stuck there, and start preaching it, you become a stumbling block to those trying to 'write the laws in the hearts of men' as the two prophecies from Jeremiah and Ezekial claimed would happen. If you become a stumbling block to children, then better a Millstone be placed around your neck. Everything written against the Law can safely be ignored because 'the law is pure, eternal, and just' and likewise 'not one jot or tittle' and likewise 'ALL commandments HANG from these two laws' and likewise 'the Law of the Lord is perfect' and likewise '29Remove me from the path of deceit and graciously grant me Your law. *30I have chosen the way of truth;* I have set Your ordinances before me.' Paul removed himself from the way of truth only to rediscover it.

@@mjack3521 This is the antinomianism heresy. And your argument relies upon a strawman about legalism. The Holy Bible something I don't think you have read says '26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 *I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.'* Ezek 26:26-27 The Lord puts a Holy Spirit in you, and That is what compels you to follow the Lord because of the 'new heart' or rather your Love of Father. If your father was a carpenter in those days, you would likewise want to learn everything he has to teach it to you, and you would follow his instructions intently. "Don't wear loose clothing or it'll get caught in the machine." You don't 'earn brownie' points with your father, you just do it because you Love him and Love to learn the trade of your father. Also it is written *"whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of AN ETERNAL SIN"* You spoke against the Holy Spirit by making an equivocation fallacy (making it appear), that it is the person winning brownie points rather than the Holy Spirit that compels him to follow the Law. You actually downgrade the Holy Spirit to being just another person's human ego. A blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. The Legalist strawman argument assumes the person is trying to earn points with God. This is a projection of your own failings. 'Because he gets As and I get Ds, something must be wrong with him.' When you were in the classroom as a child, did you not envy the child whom had the teacher's favouritism? Did he do it for brownie points, just so he had something to rub in your face? No, he genuinely wanted to know everything that was being taught. He was alert, payed attention, participated, and was on time and got the best grades because he read the entire book and did all the assignments and went back and memorized it all again so he could get a good score on the tests. Your the kid with the envy because you only read ten percent of the book, and resent all the hard work the other put forth. This is a lack of respect, born of envy and sloth, so you use a childish pejorative to cope. 'you come under a curse' The Law is not evil, and it is not a curse as you claim. In the Holy Bible we learn that *'The law is perfect'* Psalm 19:7 and that *'God's laws are PURE, ETERNAL, JUST'* Psalm 19:9. For punishment of sin is a curse, and only breaking of a Law is called a sin. And when you sin, because it is lawlessness, that is what gets you in trouble. (1 John 3:4) Remember as a child and your mother told you 'do not stick a fork in the socket?' Did you perchance believe that a curse? Did you believe that if your brothers and sisters were NOT sticking forks in the socket, that they were earning points with your mommy? So that your siblings could selfishly earn more favour from mommy? Seriously! What a childish notion. A strawman, a projection, some gas-lighting and blame game because you refused your responsibility. 'His commandments are not a burden' 1 John 5:3 You believe Christ died for nothing, a false dichotomy, with the caveat if he doesn't conform to your theology then it means nothing. He may have just NOT died for for lawless like you, and only for the LAWFUL, or something in between. In fact he says something similar in Matt 7:21-23 where he states 'you who practice lawlessness, begone!.' Wouldn't he state 'you who practice lawlessness, come here.' if he was aligned with your theology? No, those words you want Jesus to say, never parted his lips. In the Holy Bible we learn that *'But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.'* Psalm 1:2-3 AND *"This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth; *meditate on it day and night*, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it"* Joshua 1:8. and 'Listen to Me, *you who know what is right,* you people with *My law in your hearts'* Isaiah 51:7 Lastly, we know you are being a hypocrite because you rejected the 613 Old Laws and ended up making a bunch of new ones you adhere to. You even force them on your brethren. A good example is the monogamy law you have created, where in the OT there are explicit verses about it being allowed Exodus 21. And then you also have Gideon, a reward to him was many wives and children. And then you have Jesus describing something like Gideon's honeymoon with the Parable of 10 Virgins. You need the law, but you reject the Law, but you reject the punishment for the OT law, so that you can create your own man-made laws. You just repackage Marcionism. In your mind you hate the old God and his unforgiving laws, and you replace with a new good god that is forgiving in all things.

I am a sabbath keeper and I keep it as an expression of my love for Jesus. It is a really enlightening to hear from different perspectives. I had my own journey of faith, and Romans 2-4 gave me security on my day of worship that I wanted to share. Indeed that the law cannot save us, doing good deeds will not save us, it is through faith in Jesus Christ Romans 3:22-24. So if faith saves us? What is the law for? We get this story of Abraham and how he was put him right before the Lord. There were no Jews, no christians then. And Abraham gets circumcised-- his faith prompted him to obey God. Faith moves us to do God's will, and good acts/deeds and obedience are byproducts of faith and faith without acts is dead James 2:26. Romans 3:31, "does this mean that by faith we do away with the law? No not at all, instead we uphold the law". We follow Jesus in how we should treat our neighbors and how to have a relationship with God but stops on when should we worship. Indeed he challenged the rules of the Sabbath, because He didn't want it to be a burden but to be a celebration of our covenant with God established since creation and solidified in the 10 commandments (literally on a rock). And Jesus was a Jew, and kept the Sabbath even in the grave, He rested. “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” Duet 4:2. Change is a constant thing in us and around us, but God never changes.

My boyfriend comes from a tradition that believes that the sabbath and feasts are really important to keep until Christ's second coming and also that we will continue to keep them in the kingdom. I find it challenging to see it from the same standpoint. I do believe that Jesus's focus in scripture is on thr heart. He also understands that their is a privileged priest position In the 1000 year reign for those that keep the sabbath. On Saturdays. With no work and no spending money or causing others to work. Can you shed some light on this topic that may help us bridge this gap. Between grace and thr commands.

In Romans 14, Paul doesn't specifically mention the Sabbath. In Revelation 1, the Day of the Lord is a day that's referenced many times in the bible (easy to find with a word search). I find it very interesting how the fact that the Sabbath is a part of the ten commandments is always danced around. Like, what part of God's commandments are you wanting to keep if you aren't even wanting to keep the 10 commandments? And in Genesis 2 the 7th day is set apart as holy by God Himself. What more evidence do you need to set apart a day than God doing it himself at creation? The argument that Jesus rose on Sunday and that's why it's now the acceptable day of church worship is ridiculous. Additionally, the example of trying to live by the law and "throwing pebbles at some poor woman on the street" is also completely ridiculous. The judicial and priestly system in place in Israel to judge such cases is not in place anymore and therefore the punishment of stoning cannot be followed by anyone. People in biblical times were not to just take laws into their own hands. They had a system of government and once someone was found guilty that's when the penalty was carried out. That's why in the gospels when the leadership asks Jesus what they should do with an adulterous woman that they found, he refuses to take their bait to get him to pronounce judgment because he was not a judge.

I know I'm 2 months late to the party here, but some questions for you both/any passerbys in the comments section. If God's greatest commandment(s) are love God and and love others, and everything else can be viewed through that frame to determine if it is sinful or not, what is Paul's backing behind homosexuality still being sinful, and not one of the laws that doesn't pertain to Gentiles? I admit I've not dove into this topic on my own since listening to this video, but it's something I've searched for an answer for in the past and thought I had a pretty good understanding on until now.

  • @joelpetersmedia

There isn't really a perfectly viable way you can explain every "sin" through the perspective of the loving others commandment, so that is certainly a challenging question to approach. The idea behind the literal meaning of "sin" in its original context was "missing the mark" of God's best for you. So while many people would perceive committing a sin to be an act of Satan and you're damned to hell for it, or a deplorable human being for it, etc. etc., in reality the only reason it's identified as a "sin" is because you are missing God's best for your life, in the way he designed us human beings. So homosexuality isn't a sin because you are a deplorable human being or damned because of it, it's simply not God's initial design for humans. He designed men and women differently, and those differences are meant to compliment each other in the most beautiful and constructive way possible. With homosexuality being a part of humans for a long time it is not hard to imagine that eventually our brains progress into that direction enough until eventually people are born and grow into a desire sexually and romantically towards the same gender without any conditioning. This is how we get into our society's predicament of calling something that people feel in their hearts inherently without anyone telling them about it (being homosexuality) a sin, without seemingly a good spiritual logic behind it. Why would God put something in the hearts of people if it is a sin? The mind is a tool that we were given, and he isn't going to force us to use it a particular way. With enough time and thought process in a particular direction, our brains and our emotions will begin to think a certain way without trying. So to answer your question, "sin" is a vastly misunderstood concept, where God's best for you requires not just your effort to follow his laws, but our entire society and culture as well. Not murdering people requires others to not murder you. It's easy to see how loving others fits into that. When it comes to loving others romantically, God designed men to love women, and women to love men. Your initial design wasn't built to love the same sex the way God had intended. So I guess you _could_ argue that homosexuality isn't the proper form of romantic love God had made and thus doing it goes against the loving others commandment. But not only is that a bit of a stretch, it also can be countered by the fact that people can re tool their brains and emotions in a homosexual way. And that may even be something that gets inherited by future generations down the line (I should clarify that is just a theory, there is no scientific evidence to back that up). Saying all that, I do not have a conclusion for you, homosexuality will continue to be a spiritual and emotional battle for a long time to come in our culture and church, but hopefully I've given you a bit more to think about. I like to think that having a proper understanding of sin is a good starting point for that intellectual journey.

Depending on how you look at the bible and history you will see that there was a deliberate shift away from the 7 day Sabbath as it Christianity became dominant. The resurrection of Christ could be argued that it was on the Sabbath. Either way Christ never made this change. Also Constantine decree that Christianity be a legal religion 313 then in decree in 321 Sunday to be a day of rest/the Sabbath. Constantine doesn't converts/baptized until he is on his death bed. Main reason why all of this happened was to stabilize his empire. The reason Christians chose Sunday instead of Saturday is mostly due to Roman Empire stopped persecuting Christians when it became a state/legal religion 313 and the Roman empire didn't want to alienating the Mithraites, who were also a popular religion in the Empire, and their cult of Sol Invictus (the Undefeated Sun). İn an act of typical Roman pragmatism, they simply combined the two into a single religion, adopting both the cross and the sun as symbols (which, among other things, is why saints all have haloes). Although most European languages still show that Saturday is Shabbat (Sabado in Spanish, Szombat in Hungarian, Subbota in Russian) Sunday became “The Lord’s Day” (Domingo in Spanish, Dimanche in French, etc). Sidenote: (The Jewish community didn't merge with this style of Christianity. Attempt to consolidate abrahamic beliefs still happen. One example German Reform Judaism, which emerged in the 19th Century as a way to try to help Jewish people be less “Jew-ish", experimented with moving shabbat to Sunday to fit in more with the broader Christians faith but it never really materialize in the Jews community.) Lastly, observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church in the Council of Laodicea transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.” -”Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine” by Reverend Peter Giermann. Generally speaking the Sabbath is a sign between God and his people and the word does talk about not adding/taking a way from the word and but 🤷🏽. The Sabbath is the 7 day Saturday this has not changed. Sidenote: (there r different types of Sabbath also, like a high day Sabbath and so on. Even so the 10 commandments is talking about the 7 day Sabbath the weekly Sabbath.) God will have mercy on who he will.

Guys, I think, as a King of the universe, the Law of God is for all His Creation, not only for jews, not only for humans. It the Law of His Kingdom. It's the Law of His Character which is Love. And He gave us in a brief and perfect summary on how to keep it, in the ten commandments. And although, Jesús made it even simpler, to make us undurstand the essential point (love), He never said "you don't have to whatch all the Law, because it doesn't matter". On the contrary, He gave us example to keep it and how to keep it properly. We also should consider James 2:10-11 and others verses in the Bible which teach us about the importance of keeping all ten commandments (including the sabath day).

We are the ones have to evaluate whether or not the "transformative experience" is something that REALLY yields any significant improvement in human beings....or whether it merely deepens and exacerbates humanity's worst tendencies. THAT'S who we are to judge!! Because the moment you deny your own humanity as being an unworthy state from which to levy "judgement" towards anything or anybody.....you're NOT being all godly and humble.....you're basically just closing your eyes and hoping for the best. If humanity possesses no intrinsic moral compass of its own, then it has absolutely no reference point for anything.....good, bad or indifferent. "Who are we to judge?" is one of THE most spiritually cowardly and ignorant stances a person can assume. Fruit from the tree of conscience WAS eaten....so that genie's not going back in the bottle. There's only one way forward now and it's one wherein humanity MUST learn how to distinguish between good and evil. That learning curve is going to involve tons and tons of "judgemental" exercises, scenarios and situations. The guy you responded to said: "It appears that there may be something desperately wrong with the claimed configuration that these gentlemen are purveying..." That's HIS judgement....or assessment of the situation. But at least he's using his own "god given" conscience to evaluate whether or not the transformative experience is truly fit-for-purpose. Is he fit to judge? Yeah....I'd say he is......we all are. If the transformative experience totally sucks.....or can in any way be "faked" by disingenuous human beings, then this needs to be opined as both a concern.....and a warning.

I even subscribed. Not anymore. The teaching that Jesus has somehow done away with the law is a false doctrine. Peter warned of teachers misunderstanding Paul's letters. 2Pe 3:16 LOGOS as also in all his letters, speaking in them about these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. Paul's used to culture for connections but used Hebrew Scriptures as the Truth.

    >Doesn’t mean you can go back to sinning and disobeying GOD There are examples in the bible of people who do just that and are still saved. 1 CORINTHIANS 3 KJV 1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Corinthians 3 New King James Version 1And I, BRETHREN, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to BABES IN CHRIST. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? The reason they act that way is because they are immature in the faith. Immature babies act like lost people, in the flesh. There are other examples of Christians who disobey God and sin IN THE BIBLE. In order to NOT sin a person must WALK in the Spirit, and that is a CHOICE. Whether someone does do that or not salvation isn't about keeping the law AFTER YOU BELIEVE. The Apostles had a meeting about whether someone needs to keep the law, which includes the ten commandments, after faith TO BE SAVED in Acts 15! They concluded with this. Acts 15:24 KJV 24”forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:” SALVATION and SERVICE are separate issues! Keeping the ten commandments, living a holy life, IS something the Lord wants believers to do, but NOT TO REMAIN SAVED but for SERVING the Lord. SALVATION and SERVICE are separate issues! If someone mixes the two together they will be those in Matthew 7 whom Jesus says "depart from me I never knew you" because they didn't do the "will of the Father" which is to believe in Christ for EVERLASTING life (John 6:40). John 6:40 KJV “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

29 minutes : So leave out the word Jew and say those that loved and followed God. It makes the argument that there are those who stay Gentile or those who stay Jew after converting to Christ weird. What the Bible says is that we become grafted into true Israel. (There was non-true Israel who didn't understand that salvation has always been by faith according to the Law and the Prophets. Genesis & Habakkuk. It is after salvation that we become sanctified into loving Gods ways and hating the worlds.) So we are now one new man in Messiah. Not one with dying flesh and dead spirit. We now have His Spirit which empowers us to keep His Instructions. Romans 8 & Galatians 5. I think the argument that Pail had 2 personalities depending on who he is around makes Paul a hypocrite. Paul means that who uses their culture to influence people to Yeshua. We can only understand things according to our culture. Prime example is the "Unknown god". I love you guys and love the Bible project.
