I remember back in the days we used to cross into Cd. Juarez and go to a mom and pop shop leave a deposit and the following week they would have the boots ready and we would pay the rest of it for a very very reasonable price. He forgot to mention how athletes changed the footwear industry as well.

Hondo clearly emphasizes "handmade quality", and it shows in appearance, wear, and durability. I'd like to see their website tuned up in order to accommodate a custom boot. I've been a lucchese buyer, but, am considering Hondo. Excellent interview, and I appreciate the time you both took to discuss the details of this traditional craft.

It's refreshing to hear your newest interview with a guest that actually knows how boots are made. Don't mean any disrespect to the marketing types; the boot industry requires BOTH and all participants (retailers, customers)in equal parts. Let's work together to get out a quality product that more generations can enjoy. Congratulations to both of you!

Phil you make some damn fine boots. I got me a pair of Buckaroo boots, 3/4 double stitch welt.. no nails, no wooden pegs... craftsmanship and leather on leather footbed vantastic... don't ever get rid of that 3/4 welt that is the way to build them in my opinion... bought a pair from Cavender's now I see they don't have anymore, I guess get them while they're in stock.. now that I know what my perfect size is I'll be ordering up some custom boots shortly. You have a customer for life... and if it wasn't for Jeremiah's Channel I would have never got into them... This Hondo thing is definitely a feather in your cap Jeremiah but you're from New York so I'm going to keep my eye on you....

I remember the Urban Cowboy rush. As a middle school kid back then..we all had cowboy boots and Levi's because of that. As far as the rest of it ? I have a moderate collection of Gilley's items from inside the club and Cryer's office. In fact I spoken to Mickey Gilley on numerous occasions. Sad to see it is now Marshall Kendrick Middle School . Sorry uhm about those boots LOL

What a great watch! I haven been wearing Hondo boots since I first discovered them in 2006. Currently, I am on my 4th pair and will remain loyal as long as they continue to remain loyal to their motto. Thank you Hondo for an excellent boot!

Question. Do now have 4 pars or have you replaced the boots 4 times? Because the way it sounds your boots are only lasting 4 years. A quality boot will last 40 years.

Not trying to sound corny but that was an Academy Award winning video.. For people taking the time to research before they blow their money on a lot of disappointing purchases.. I found Hondo through Jeremiah Craig which quite frankly was a blessing. I own several pair of stock Hondos.. and I will be designing and buying some custom-made in the future.

Every dang pair of Hondos that I have bought have an obvious hole and exposed thread puncturing the vamp near the arch down near the welt. Don’t know if it’s related to the channel welt construction, but it’s real bad. I suspect it’s where they start the stitching of the vamp to the welt. If that is the net result of this construction method, Hondo should use a gemming and use traditional Goodyear construction. I’ve returned all my three of my Hondo purchases (all done online - they’re not sold locally) and it’s been 3 different models with the same issue. I have no confidence that the stitching hole in the vamps won’t tear out with stress and use. They look nice until you scrutinize the vamp along the welt - I suspect you will all see the same issue......holes in the lower vamp with exposed thread showing.

Yeah that traditional hard leather insole isn't for everyone. I love it though. Hondo heel pads are hit and miss depending on the year they were made

Anyone have any guidance on the fit of Hondo boots compared to other makers? I wear 8.5 D in Laredos, but my foot size is 9.5 and tried on a pair of 10.5 D Tony Lamas recently that were too tight.

Online sales reach the masses. I would have to plan at least a three day trip to get to the big world. There is a local mom and pop store; if they are still there. They may be able to acquire a boot i want and stand between manufacturer and me. Closest big boot place has limited brands. They do have some off brands that i wish to go see in person. Hondo web site has limited information and one picture. They should do a better job describing the boot with pictures. Top down, sides. bottom, rear. Then i could select a model and search for it or try to order it thru a local..
