My opinion... Jim Carrey is one of the very few that have transcended G.O.A.T status definitely a legendary comedy mega-icon. I believe he might even be the best alive but that's hard to say because there is just sooo many hilarious and amazing comedians especially the currently active ones and there's so many different styles of comedy. I honestly can't go without mentioning Danny Mcbride (still so underrated) he is an all time favorite of mine but his role in Eastbound and down is probably about the most serious role he is capable of and that's the same with the vast majority of the comedians throughout where as Jim Carrey has conquered some majorly serious roles. I mean I don't give a rats ass who says different about the movie "the #23", Jim Carrey undeniably crushed that movie and that's the obvious go-to example of one of his serious roles but I liked every one of his non or less comedic and more dramatic roles. I will admit, I was skeptical at first about him in a serious role but then I was surprised at how easy it was to take him seriously. Side note R.I.P. Robin Williams and George Carlin whom in my eyes had also transcended G.O.A.T. status.

I have always been a fan of Jim's! We have the same birthday too! I think there's a whole lot more going on behind the scenes than any of us will ever know. I def think it has something to do with the fact that Hollywood is run by a bunch of assholes & Jim doesn't really need the money, so he'd rather not deal with the bullshit & lies. Plus, he's been doing some directing & maybe he would rather do that & just chill, because when he was at the height of his career he was extremely busy for years on end. Maybe the guy is just trying to enjoy life before he's too old too have fun. What's the point in making millions of dollars if you're too busy working too enjoy the fruits of your labour? Just my take on it; you can take it or leave it. Regardless, I'll always cherish his films & be forever grateful for all the laughs he's brought into the world over the years. Thank you, Jim!

Very well said and I totally agree with all you said, especially that there's more going on behind the scenes than we realize. Any ideals he stands for, he stands firm and has the money and power and stubborness to do so without hindering himself even if he's fighting a losing battle. The anti gun movement he supported kinda disappointed me though but to each their own and I still love the guy regardless of being in disagreement with some of the things he supports and that is mostly because he does mean well in his endeavors.

He was great in kick ass 2. He should be in a Tarantino film. At the least make a cameo.

Jim Carrey is an awesome talent and one of the funniest actors ever to grace the screen. He still has a solid fan base that believes in him and his abilities not only as a comedian but as a serious actor. Obviously a sensitive soul as well.

I've always liked Jim Carrey since I was a kid. It was Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, and The Mask that I knew about him. Growing up I've always watched his movies. He is HILARIOUS! I don't care if his beliefs are different, everybody's is, but that shouldn't affect his career and neither the lawsuit. Jim will always entertain people such as myself. He's a very talented guy that I wish things will get better for him in the future.

I am a fan of Jim Carrey. I have collection of all his movies. He was the first movie actor on my mind during an activity in my college speech course. On first day of class, the instructor had each student pick out a script from a hat, read and answer question out loud in front of the class. My script saids name your favorite famous actor/actress and what type of movie would you want him/her to broadcast and why? He makes me laugh, he is as awesome as Robert William.

or to sum it up Carey's career peaked in the mid to late 90's, then he decided to go for a bunch of obscure dramatic roles in movies where everyone still expected him to be funny, the change of direction was to say the least, jarring to fans of his comedic stuff. While he's currently going through a bit of a midlife crisis, he'll make a comeback of some sort, though we aren't likely to see a reboot to the Grinch any time soon.

that Was pretty cool! i never thought about it that way, but it is obvious now that you think about it. movies are multi-million dollar pieces where tv is lower budgeted. i think someone needs to come along with a story-line now-a-days that is actually funny. then a guy like carrey can work his magic. just his facial expressions were what always did it for me

Jim Carrey is the last genius of comedy ever to come again. This generation is full of shit anyway, they are satisfied with 'Hangover' shity humour... . That´s where the cash is, so why hold on to an artist?
