Why Hollywood Won't Cast Hilary Swank Anymore

Hillary Swank may have started her career in smaller roles like The Next Karate Kid and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but when she started taking on riskier ones -- like as Brandon Teena in the groundbreaking film Boys Don’t Cry -- she started gaining international recognition for her immense talent.
Swank also won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Teena. She continued her success with another Oscar win for her performance as Maggie Fitzgerald in Million Dollar Baby.
Swank continued to have success in the 2000s with movies like Freedom Writers and P.S. I Love You, but the following decade has seen her popularity wane. So, why doesn’t Hollywood cast this talented Oscar-winning actor anymore?

While I absolutely believe that Hillary Swank deserved both of her oscars (her work in Boys Don't Cry is so real and so haunting I can't even watch that film again, and I personally think that Hillary as Brandon Teena is some of the best acting of _all time),_ I also absolutely think Annette Benning deserved an oscar for American Beauty. That was a real, full, well fleshed out, CRAZY and weird character who was portrayed very believably. Even in the extreme moments like the crying scene, the cheating scenes, the flirting with her own husband scenes, the overbearing bitch mother scenes... she was perfectly human and realistic, even sympathetic. That could not have been easy to do as an actress, to keep it out of the uncanny and hammy area with a character like her, and I do think she at least gave an oscar-_worthy_ performance, even if it ended up going to somebody else who also did a fantastic job. I think in any other year, Annette Benning WOULD have won for that role. It really was outstanding. I don't envy academy judges in years like that, when they have to make decisions that difficult. I wouldn't have been able to choose, personally.

To my mind, after winning two Oscars for Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby, Hilary Swank did changed a lot. She has other interests along the way for devoting her time to helping kids and animals with her non-profit charity, The Hilary Foundation. I respect her even more. There's only one person whose mixture of both qualities of a great actress:passion and skill. And that's Hilary Swank. We love you!!!

That might be true. But she wasn't a star of the show BECAUSE she was fired. That isn't false. Swank has even talked about it saying it was a blessing in disguise because thats what freed her to do Boy Don't Cry. So the statement is not inaccurate. She WAS brought on to be a major love interest/new cast member. And when the audience didn't like her and her storyline so she was fired.

yes I agree that she was great in Amelia, but the film was mediocre. she was also great in Conviction , which came out the following year. (bonus, Sam Rockwell plays her brother in that film). I think she's always great, just sometimes the movies don't measure up to her talent. The last thing I saw that she was in was The Homesman; I think that was last year. looked like a decent movie but I doubt anyone saw it. I have to check it out some time. I can't wait for that Starz project; sounds great and lots of talented people attached.
